In short

Lip fillers in Singapore are small amounts of soft hyaluronic acid, injected by a doctor to define the lip border, improve hydration, balance the two lips or add modest volume. The plan starts from your facial proportions, and first treatments are kept modest. Swelling settles over about a week. Results often last around six to twelve months, and hyaluronic acid can be dissolved if needed.

Key facts
  • What it is: soft hyaluronic acid gel placed in or along the lips by a doctor.
  • Used for: border definition, hydration, symmetry and modest volume.
  • Not used for: a lip that disappears on smiling (lip flip), lip colour (pigmentation treatment) or deep smoker’s lines alone.
  • Reversibility: hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase; collagen stimulators are not used in the lips.
  • Recovery: swelling peaks over two to three days and settles in about a week.
  • Duration: often around six to twelve months, varying between people and products.
  • Consultation: S$120, waived with any medical treatment. IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza.
What they do

What can lip fillers do, and what can they not?

Lip fillers are small amounts of soft hyaluronic acid gel placed in or along the lips, injected by a doctor. They are used for several different jobs, and the job decides the amount and where it goes:

Fillers do not lift a lip that disappears when you smile; that is a muscle effect treated with a lip flip. They do not change lip colour, which is addressed by lip pigmentation treatment or lip blush. And they do not reverse heavy smoker’s lines on their own; those need the skin around the mouth treated as well. Lip filler is one area among many covered on dermal fillers Singapore.

Proportion

Natural lip proportions: why a lip filler plan starts from the face

A lip that suits one face can look wrong on another, so the plan starts with proportion rather than a syringe count. Studies of lip attractiveness consistently prefer a lower lip somewhat fuller than the upper, a defined border and lips that sit in balance with the nose and chin in profile. Consensus work on Asian facial aesthetics describes a preference for soft, well-defined lips that support the profile rather than dominate it.

General principles; the plan is individual and agreed before treatment.
What is assessedWhy it matters
Upper-to-lower lip balanceAn upper lip fuller than the lower tends to look unnatural, especially in profile
Border and Cupid’s bowA crisp border gives definition with little volume; a blurred border is a common sign of overfilling
Lip projection in profileJudged against the nose and chin; sometimes the chin is the real issue, not the lips
Width and mouth cornersFullness should taper towards the corners; filling them bulks the mouth
Teeth and gum showA gummy smile or lip that rolls in changes what filler can achieve
Skin around the mouthFine lines and thin skin above the lip need their own treatment

When the chin is recessed, the lips can look too prominent whatever is done to them; supporting the chin with chin fillers sometimes balances the profile better than adding to the lips.

Products and technique

Which filler is used for lips, and how is it placed?

Lips are treated with soft, flexible hyaluronic acid gels designed to move with speech and expression. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed, which matters in an area this visible. Collagen-stimulating products such as CaHA, PCL and PLLA are not used in the lips, because of the risk of firm nodules in a mobile area.

Placement follows the job. Product along the border defines the outline; small amounts in the body of the lip add gentle fullness; fine threads just under the surface hydrate. A fine needle or a blunt cannula may be used, chosen for the area and the anatomy. The labial arteries run within the lips, usually deep to the muscle on the inner side, so depth and technique are planned around them, injection is slow, and amounts are small.

First treatments are deliberately modest. Lips swell for several days, so the true result is judged at review, two to four weeks later, and any further refinement is planned then. Staging gives a natural result and a chance to stop when it looks right.

“Lips look done when the border disappears. Keep the border, and most people will only notice that you look well.”
— Dr Sin Yong, Medical Director, IN Eternity Clinic
Recovery

Lip filler swelling and recovery: what to expect day by day

A general guide. Plan lip treatment at least two weeks before an important event.
WhenWhat is usualWhat helps
Day 0Lips look fuller than the final result; tenderness, small injection marksCold compress; no lip products for a few hours
Days 1–3Swelling peaks, often more in the morning; bruising possibleSleep slightly propped up; avoid hot drinks, alcohol, exercise and saunas
Days 4–7Swelling settles; small firm areas softenAvoid pressing or massaging unless advised
Weeks 2–4Settled shape; reviewRefinement planned at review, not before

Hyaluronic acid in the lips is broken down faster than in quieter areas because the lips move constantly; results often last around six to twelve months, varying between people and products. Some product may remain longer than it looks, which is one reason repeated touch-ups without review can gradually blur the border. The shapes people ask for and aftercare in more detail are in the lip filler guide: shapes and aftercare.

Safety

Are lip fillers safe? Risks and how they are reduced

Bruising, swelling and tenderness are common and settle. The less common problems are worth knowing:

Products should be HSA-registered and come from authorised supply. If a previous result looks wrong, it is assessed first, often with ultrasound, before anything is added; see filler correction. Lip enhancement focused on hydration and fine lip lines is covered under lip rejuvenation for hydration and lip lines.

At assessment

What Dr Sin Yong looks for

  • Lip proportion at rest and smiling. Upper-to-lower balance, border definition and how the lips change when you smile.
  • The profile. Lips are judged against the nose and chin before any volume is added.
  • The border. A blurred or raised border suggests earlier product or overfilling.
  • Skin above the lip. Fine lines, thin skin or pigment point to treatment of the skin as well as, or instead of, the lip.
  • Gum show and lip roll. A lip that disappears on smiling may need a lip flip rather than filler.
  • History. Cold sores, dental work planned in the next weeks, previous filler and any reactions.

Price

Lip fillers Singapore price: what decides it

Lip filler price depends on the amount of product needed (often less than one syringe for a first, modest treatment), the product, whether the plan is staged, and what review is included. A hydration treatment, a border refinement and a volume plan are priced differently. IN Eternity Clinic gives a written quote after assessment; the consultation fee is S$120, waived with any medical treatment.

When this is not cosmetic

When a lip concern is not cosmetic

Most lip concerns are about shape or ageing. A few signs need a doctor before any filler.

Where any of these apply, a diagnosis comes first.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much do lip fillers cost in Singapore?

It depends on the amount of product, the product, staging and what review is included. IN Eternity Clinic gives a written quote after assessment; the consultation fee is S$120, waived with any medical treatment. Other clinics’ published lip filler prices, read on 20 October 2026, are shown on this page.

How long do lip fillers last?

Often around six to twelve months, because the lips move constantly and break hyaluronic acid down faster than quieter areas. It varies between people and products, and some product can remain longer than it looks.

Will my lips look natural?

That is the aim. The plan starts from your proportions, keeps the border crisp, keeps the lower lip a little fuller than the upper and uses modest amounts, with any refinement at review once swelling has settled.

Does lip filler hurt?

The lips are sensitive, so numbing cream is applied first and most lip fillers contain a local anaesthetic. Most people describe pressure and brief stinging; ice afterwards helps with tenderness.

How long does lip filler swelling last?

Swelling usually peaks in the first two to three days and settles over about a week, sometimes up to two. Lips can look fuller than the final result at first, so plan treatment at least two weeks before an event.

Can lip filler be dissolved?

Yes. Lip fillers are hyaluronic acid, which can usually be broken down with hyaluronidase, a prescription enzyme kept at the clinic. Collagen-stimulating fillers are not used in the lips.

Lip filler or lip flip: which do I need?

Filler adds shape, definition, hydration or volume. A lip flip uses a few anti-wrinkle injections to relax the muscle so the upper lip rolls out slightly when you smile. They solve different problems and are sometimes combined.

Who should not have lip filler?

Treatment is postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with an active cold sore or infection, or around dental work. People with recurrent lip swelling, autoimmune conditions or previous filler reactions are assessed carefully first.
