The Bliss Lift is a thread lift in Singapore that restores definition without surgery — a face thread lift using absorbable threads for a natural, non-surgical facelift result with minimal thread lift downtime, directed by Medical Director Dr Sin Yong.
A thread lift places absorbable PDO or PCL threads under the skin through small entry points, under local anaesthesia, to reposition descended tissue along planned vectors and prompt collagen around each thread. It suits mild to moderate descent of the jowl, mid-face, brow or neck. The hold softens as threads dissolve, and heavy skin excess needs a surgical opinion instead.
The Bliss Lift is Dr Sin Yong’s thread lift protocol using PDO (polydioxanone) and PCL (polycaprolactone) threads inserted beneath the skin to physically reposition descended tissue and stimulate collagen production as the threads dissolve.
Thread lift is a well-established non-surgical option for mild to moderate facial laxity. It repositions tissue on the day of treatment, most often at the jowls, mid-face, brow and neck, without incisions or general anaesthesia.
Unlike energy-based protocols, threads work by mechanical anchoring rather than tissue heating. This makes them a complementary option that can be combined with VF Lift – Vertical Facelift or Time Freeze LCLR® for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
“Threads reposition what has descended. They are not a filler, and they are not surgery.”
Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are absorbable sutures that dissolve over 6–8 months. Barbed or cog PDO threads anchor into the deep dermis to physically reposition tissue, while stimulating a collagen cascade as they dissolve. Results are immediate with gradual improvement over 3 months.
Polycaprolactone (PCL) threads dissolve more slowly — over 18–24 months — providing a longer duration of structural lift. PCL also stimulates sustained collagen production. These are preferred for patients seeking extended results or who have previously undergone PDO thread lift.
Dr Sin Yong customises thread type, gauge, quantity and vector placement per patient based on facial anatomy, degree of descent, skin thickness and desired outcome. Thread lift is often combined with energy-based treatments to address both structural lift and skin quality simultaneously.
Barbed threads placed along the jawline vectors to lift descended jowl tissue and restore jawline definition. This is the zone most often requested.
Threads placed in the midface lift descended malar fat pads, reducing nasolabial folds and restoring the natural ogee curve of the cheek. Often planned together with volume restoration where the cheek has also lost support.
Temporal threads elevate a descended lateral brow, opening the eye and restoring a more rested, refreshed appearance without the heaviness associated with surgical browlift.
Neck threads address early cervicomental laxity and platysmal banding, improving the neck-jaw angle. For more significant neck laxity, energy-based protocols are usually more effective.
Thread lifts create mechanical lift at the time of insertion — but threads dissolve over months and the lift will gradually diminish as the underlying facial ageing process continues. They do not address skin quality, pore size, pigmentation, or volume loss. For patients with moderate to advanced laxity, or those seeking longer-lasting and more comprehensive results, Dr Sin Yong typically recommends VF Lift – Vertical Facelift or Time Freeze LCLR® as primary protocols — with threads as a complementary option where appropriate.
Thread lift is an established option for mild laxity. At consultation, Dr Sin Yong frequently recommends his proprietary energy-based protocols instead — or alongside — where they suit the face better, and they avoid the procedural risks of thread insertion.
Where threads create mechanical lift that fades as they dissolve, Time Freeze LCLR® combines dual-wavelength laser energy — calibrated zone-by-zone in real time — to stimulate lasting collagen remodelling, address lipo-modelling and improve skin integrity simultaneously. Change builds over the following months as collagen remodels.
The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is Dr Sin Yong’s customised non-surgical facelift protocol — addressing three distinct outcomes in the same session: lifting laxity and jowling, reducing excess facial puffiness, and restoring hollow cheeks through adipose stem cell stimulation. It aims at structural lifting without physical thread insertion.
Thread lift remains a valid clinical option and is offered at the clinic. Dr Sin Yong will recommend the most appropriate protocol — or combination — at your consultation based on your specific anatomy, degree of laxity and goals.
The Bliss Lift is a thread lift protocol at IN Eternity Clinic that uses absorbable threads to reposition descended tissue and stimulate collagen along their path, lifting the mid-face, jawline, brow or neck without surgery. The threads resorb over time while the tissue response persists. It is planned by Medical Director Dr Sin Yong.
Thread lift pricing in Singapore depends on the number and type of threads used and the areas being lifted. A tailored plan and its cost are discussed at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic, since the right approach differs with how much lift and support each face needs.
Some swelling, tenderness or minor bruising is usual in the days following a thread lift and settles over roughly one to two weeks. Specific aftercare is provided, and what to expect is explained beforehand.
Neither is universally better. A thread lift repositions descended tissue mechanically, while HIFU firms tissue in place using focused ultrasound. The right choice depends on whether descent or laxity is dominant in your face, which is assessed at consultation — and the two are sometimes combined.
Many patients achieve their result with the Bliss Lift thread lift in a single session, with longevity depending on the threads used and the individual. Your plan is set at consultation by Medical Director Dr Sin Yong.
Beyond facial threads, a nose thread lift in Singapore can refine and lift the nasal bridge for added definition, often combined with other contouring treatments.
The Bliss Lift is performed under local anaesthesia, with no general anaesthetic. Numbing cream is applied first, then local anaesthetic is placed at each entry point and along the planned thread paths. Most people feel the anaesthetic sting for a few seconds; after that, threading feels like pressure, gentle tugging and a sense of the tissue being lifted, rather than pain. A session takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
Once the anaesthetic wears off, soreness, tightness and tenderness along the thread paths are common for three to seven days, especially when opening the mouth wide, chewing or yawning. Simple painkillers and cold compresses usually manage this. Increasing pain, heat, redness or discharge at an entry point should be reported to the clinic.
Most of the recovery after a thread lift happens in the first week.
Threads differ in material, in whether they carry barbs or cogs, and in how long they take to dissolve. Smooth threads support skin quality; barbed or cogged threads are what create lift. The Bliss Lift uses PDO and PCL threads, with type, gauge and number chosen for each face.
| Thread | Dissolves over (approx.) | Main role |
|---|---|---|
| Smooth (mono) PDO | About six months | Fine support for skin quality; little or no lift |
| Barbed or cogged PDO | About six to eight months | Repositioning jowl, mid-face or brow along set vectors |
| Barbed PCL | About 18 to 24 months | Longer structural support and collagen stimulation |
| PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) | About 12 to 18 months | Lift with collagen stimulation; used by some clinics |
The lift seen on the day comes from the barbs holding tissue in its new position. As the thread dissolves, the collagen it prompted provides some ongoing support, but the face continues to age, so the change softens over time. How long it holds depends on the thread, the weight of the tissue being lifted and the individual.
Both threads are absorbable sutures, and both lift in the same way: small barbs or cogs hold tissue in its new position while the body lays down collagen around the thread. The difference is how long the thread stays. PDO (polydioxanone) is broken down by the body over roughly six to eight months; PCL (polycaprolactone) over roughly 18 to 24 months, so it supports the tissue for longer and prompts collagen over a longer period.
Type, gauge, number and vector are set per face at assessment. The longer explanation, including cog versus smooth threads and how each dissolves, is in PDO vs PCL thread lift.
A thread lift suits mild to moderate descent of the jowl, mid-face or outer brow in someone with reasonable skin thickness who wants a visible change with a short recovery. It is commonly chosen in the late 30s to 50s and often combined with energy-based tightening.
It is a poor fit where the tissue is too heavy for threads to hold, where skin is very thin and threads may show, or where excess skin is marked. It is deferred with active skin infection, in pregnancy, and with uncontrolled medical conditions or bleeding tendencies, and a history of keloid scarring or autoimmune disease is discussed first. Face shape matters too: in a leaner or hollow face, VF Lift – Vertical Facelift may give lift without the risk of further hollowing, while in a fuller lower face Time Freeze Laser LCLR® can take away the excess before threads are considered, so they are not asked to hold extra weight.
Where threads go, and in which direction, matters more than how many are used. The table shows the areas most often treated at IN Eternity Clinic and the usual limits of each.
| Area | What the threads do | Usual thread | Points to weigh |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jowl and jawline | Barbed threads along vectors from the jaw towards the temple lift the jowl back over the jawline | PDO or PCL barbed | The most common area; heavy jowls may need fat reduction or a surgical opinion first |
| Mid-face and cheek | Threads lift the descended cheek fat pad, softening the nasolabial fold from above | PDO or PCL barbed | Often combined with volume restoration where the cheek has also thinned |
| Brow and temple | Short vectors in the temple raise a dropped outer brow | PDO barbed | Suits a mild lateral brow drop; marked hooding of the eyelid needs a different plan |
| Neck | Threads support early laxity and soften the jaw-neck angle | PDO, sometimes smooth threads for skin quality | Loose, hanging neck skin responds poorly to threads |
| Nose | Fine barbed threads placed along the bridge and into the tip support height and tip projection | HIKO nose threads (PDO) | Adds definition; cannot make a nose smaller or narrower |
Nose thread lift. HIKO-style nose threads are fine barbed PDO threads placed through a small entry point at the tip, running up along the bridge and into the columella. They can raise a low bridge and lift the tip without filler, which some people prefer because nothing spreads sideways. They do not narrow the nose, and the nose has a delicate blood supply, so it is assessed with the same care as nose filler. The procedure is described on nose thread lift in Singapore, the technique in HIKO nose thread lift explained, and the comparison with filler in nose thread lift vs nose filler.

Common and expected: bruising, swelling, tightness when opening the mouth, small dimples at entry points and mild asymmetry in the first one to two weeks. These usually settle without treatment.
Less common: a thread that can be felt or seen under thin skin, a thread end working its way to the surface (extrusion), persistent dimpling, or infection at an entry point. Most are managed by adjusting or removing the affected thread, and infection may need a course of prescription antibiotics. Rare: injury to a nerve branch or to the duct of the parotid salivary gland, which careful vector planning is designed to avoid. Reviews of barbed-thread lifting describe these risks as mostly minor and short-lived, which is why a review visit is part of every plan. More detail is in thread lift complications.
Thread lift pricing in Singapore is set by the plan rather than by a menu. The factors that decide it are:
A written plan and cost follow the assessment, and the consultation fee is waived with any medical treatment. The factors are explained in more detail in thread lift cost in Singapore.
For the first few days swelling, tightness and occasional bruising or dimpling can be visible at close range. Once these settle, usually within one to two weeks, people tend to notice a cleaner jawline or a fresher face rather than that threads were placed. Planning treatment two weeks before an important event is sensible.
Some people do, but most plan one to two days off. Expect swelling, tenderness and tightness, especially when talking or eating, for the first few days. Make-up can usually cover bruising after the entry points have closed. Avoid strenuous exercise and facial massage for the period advised.
Dental treatment involves opening the mouth wide for long periods, which can strain freshly placed threads. Most people postpone routine dental work for around two weeks after a thread lift. If you have dental work planned, mention it at consultation so treatment can be timed around it.
It varies with the thread and the face. Lift from PDO threads usually softens over months as the threads dissolve, while PCL threads dissolve more slowly and give longer support. Heavier tissue, continued ageing, weight change and sun exposure shorten how long the change is seen. Many people plan maintenance or combine threads with energy-based tightening to support the result.
Early on, a thread that is causing a dimple, asymmetry or discomfort can often be adjusted or removed through a small entry point. Once tissue has grown around it, removal is harder, but threads dissolve over time in any case. Raise concerns at the review visit, so they can be addressed while adjustment is still simple.
Yes, and combining them is common, because threads reposition tissue while energy-based treatments tighten and improve collagen. The order and spacing matter: energy is usually not placed directly over freshly inserted threads. Dr Sin Yong plans which comes first and how far apart they are, based on your face and the threads used.
A surgical facelift repositions the deeper SMAS layer through incisions and removes excess skin. A thread lift holds tissue in a new position with absorbable threads through small entry points, under local anaesthesia, and removes nothing. It suits mild to moderate descent, and the hold softens as the threads dissolve.
There is no standard number. It depends on the areas treated, how heavy the tissue is and how many vectors are needed to lift it evenly. More threads do not automatically give more lift and do add risk, so the number is set at assessment for your face.
Often, yes. Previous filler can change how tissue moves along a vector, so bring details of what was used, where and when. Sometimes filler is adjusted or dissolved first; sometimes the plan simply works around it. This is decided after examination.
By choosing suitable faces, planning vectors away from facial nerve branches and the parotid duct, keeping the procedure sterile, using the right thread for the tissue and reviewing at one to two weeks, when a dimple or a thread end can still be adjusted easily. More detail is in thread lift complications.
The principle is similar but the threads and aim differ. Nose threads are fine barbed threads placed along the bridge and tip to support height and projection; face threads reposition descended cheek or jowl tissue. Both are absorbable and placed under local anaesthesia.
These sources describe mechanisms and general evidence. They are not a promise of any individual result; suitability is decided at an in-person assessment.
