Treatments Explained

What each treatment actually does, in plain language.

Before choosing a treatment it helps to understand what the device or product does to the skin, what the evidence shows, and where its limits are. These explainers from Dr Sin Yong cover each family, with links to the treatment page for anything offered at the clinic.

Aftercare depends on what was done. After CO2 laser, keep the skin clean and moist and do not pick for about a week. After pico laser, protect from sun and let micro-crusts fall naturally. After injections and Rejuran, avoid heat, alcohol and hard exercise for a day or two. Sudden pain, colour change or vision change needs an urgent call.

Treatments explained: every guide on this site, by family

An explainer answers one question: what does this device or product do, and how well is that supported? Each one is written in plain language by Dr Sin Yong, cites its evidence, and links to the treatment page where the treatment is offered at IN Eternity Clinic. Where a treatment is not used at the clinic, the explainer says so and explains the reasoning. Nothing here replaces an in-person assessment; suitability and results vary between people.

Once you know what a treatment does, the aftercare guides describe recovery day by day, and the complications guides explain what to do if something has not gone to plan. To match a concern to a treatment, use find a treatment or the glossary.

How to read an explainer

Device, protocol and operator: three things an explainer separates

Most marketing describes a device. An explainer separates three things: the mechanism (what the energy or product physically does), the protocol (depth, energy, passes, spacing, and how it is adjusted per face), and the operator (the judgement about which zone needs what). The same ultrasound or radiofrequency device gives very different results depending on the second and third, which is why two people can report opposite experiences of the “same” treatment. Where our explainers compare devices, they compare mechanisms; the protocol is decided at assessment.

Evidence is graded plainly: randomised or split-face trials where they exist, then prospective series, then case reports or manufacturer data. If the only evidence is manufacturer data, the explainer says so.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an explainer and a treatment page?

An explainer describes how a device or product works and what the evidence shows, independent of any clinic. A treatment page describes how that treatment is done at IN Eternity Clinic: suitability, what a session involves, downtime and aftercare. Explainers link to the treatment page where the treatment is offered.

Why do some explainers cover treatments the clinic does not use?

Because patients ask about them. Where a device or product is not used at IN Eternity Clinic, the explainer sets out the reasoning, usually the state of the evidence or regulatory status in Singapore, so that you can make an informed decision wherever you are treated.

How are the explainers kept current?

Each one carries a last-reviewed date and is checked against new trials and HSA or MOH guidance. If the evidence changes, the explainer changes; if a device is withdrawn or newly registered, the explainer is updated.

Can I ask about a device that is not listed?

Yes. Send the name by WhatsApp to +65 8815 3008 and the team will reply with what is known about it. Frequently asked devices are added as new explainers.
