Who will I see at my consultation?

You see the doctor. Dr Sin Yong takes your history — medical conditions, medicines, allergies, previous treatments and how they went — and asks what is bothering you and why now. He then examines the area in good light, at rest and on movement, and uses tools such as dermoscopy or ultrasound where they help.

There is no separate sales conversation before or after. The person who explains the plan is the person responsible for it.

The plan

What does a written plan include?

The plan says what Dr Sin Yong suggests and why, which alternatives exist and how they compare, what each option can and cannot achieve, the main risks, the likely number of sessions, the expected recovery, and the fees. If the honest answer is that nothing is needed yet, or that another specialty would serve you better, the plan says that instead.

Where a prescription medicine is involved, it is described by its generic name and explained as a prescription medicine; it is given only after examination and consent.

“If I cannot explain why a treatment suits you in a sentence, it probably does not. And you should never feel you have to decide in the room.”
— Dr Sin Yong, Medical Director, IN Eternity Clinic
Time to decide

Do I have to decide on the day?

No. For anything more than a simple, low-risk treatment, you are encouraged to take the plan home, read it, and come back with questions before booking. Taking a day or more to think it over is normal and expected. Treatments are not offered as time-limited bundles, so nothing is lost by waiting.

It is entirely fine to leave without booking anything. A consultation is for information and advice; it is not a commitment.

Saying no

When will the doctor advise against treatment?

Dr Sin Yong will advise against a treatment when it is unlikely to help the concern you came with, when the risk outweighs the likely benefit, when an existing product or condition needs dealing with first, or when your expectations and what the treatment can do are too far apart. Some treatments are not offered at all; see treatments we do not offer.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will I be pressured to book a treatment?

No. You receive a written plan and an explanation of fees, and you are encouraged to take time to decide. Treatments are not pushed as bundles or time-limited offers, and leaving without booking is entirely fine. You can also take the plan to another doctor for a second opinion before deciding.

Who conducts the consultation?

Medical Director Dr Sin Yong. He takes your history, examines you, explains the options and writes the plan. There is no separate sales consultant. Questions after the consultation can be sent by WhatsApp and are answered with the doctor’s input.

How long is the first consultation?

Usually 45 to 60 minutes. That allows time for your history, an examination, a discussion of the options, including doing nothing, and questions. Bring a list of your medicines, allergies and any records of previous treatments so that time is used well.

Can I have treatment on the same day as my consultation?

Sometimes, for simple treatments that suit you after assessment. For anything substantial you are encouraged to take time to think first. Injectables and lasers are given only after examination and consent. Nothing is lost by taking time to decide.

What if I want a second opinion?

That is reasonable and welcome. Take your written plan to another doctor if you wish. A good plan should make sense to another clinician as well. If a second opinion raises questions, you are welcome to come back and discuss them with Dr Sin Yong.

How much does a consultation cost?

The consultation fee is confirmed when you book, and it is waived if you go ahead with any medical treatment. Treatment fees depend on the treatment, the area, the number of sessions and what is found on examination, and they are set out in the written plan so you can consider them at home.
