In short

H2LT (Hair Hyperstimulation Laser Therapy) is Dr Sin Yong’s low-level laser protocol for thinning hair. Laser energy is delivered to the scalp to stimulate follicle metabolism, a process called photobiomodulation, and to encourage resting follicles back into growth. It works on miniaturising follicles that are still present, usually alongside medical treatment, as a course of six to ten sessions with maintenance.

Key facts
  • Mechanism: Photobiomodulation: light absorbed in follicle cells raises cellular energy production and favours the growth (anagen) phase
  • Target: The dermal papilla at the base of each follicle, which drives the hair cycle
  • Suits: Early to moderate thinning in men and women, where follicles are miniaturising but still present
  • Does not suit: Scarring alopecia, or scalp that has been bald for years, where follicles are no longer there
  • Course: Six to ten initial sessions of 15–20 minutes, then monthly maintenance
  • Combination: Usually paired with prescription or topical treatment and correction of any deficiency found on blood tests
  • Assessed by: Medical Director Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road

About This Treatment

H2LT — Laser Hair Loss Treatment Singapore

H2LT (Hair Hyperstimulation Laser Therapy) is Dr Sin Yong's proprietary low-level laser treatment for hair loss — a calibrated protocol specifically designed for hair follicle stimulation in Singapore's multi-ethnic patient population. The protocol uses calibrated laser energy at specific wavelengths and pulse parameters to stimulate the dermal papilla — the stem-cell rich structure at the base of each follicle that drives hair growth cycles.

The energy stimulation drives follicles from the telogen (resting) phase back into the anagen (growth) phase, aiming for gradual regrowth and density improvement over a series of sessions. It is non-invasive and drug-free, with little downtime for most people.

H2LT Protocol

01
Laser Wavelength Selection
Specific wavelengths optimised for dermal papilla penetration depth — calibrated to reach the follicle base where the growth signal originates.
02
Scalp Mapping
The pattern and severity of hair loss is mapped before each session — allowing targeted treatment of the most affected zones.
03
Session Protocol
6–10 initial sessions are recommended for full follicle activation. Each session takes 15–20 minutes. Before commencing the programme, patients are recommended to check serum zinc, iron and folate levels as part of their routine health screening — deficiencies in these micronutrients are a correctable and often overlooked contributor to hair loss.
04
Maintenance
Monthly maintenance sessions sustain the follicle activation achieved during the initial course — transitioning to bi-monthly once density is stabilised. For patients undergoing a comprehensive hair regrowth treatment programme in Singapore, H2LT maintenance is the backbone of long-term retention.
05
Combination Synergy
H2LT is usually combined with medical therapy (prescription and topical medication), growth factor treatment and topically applied exosome products — the combination addresses several drivers of hair loss at the same time.
“Laser can support a follicle that is struggling. It cannot grow hair where the follicle has gone, which is why thinning is treated early rather than baldness late.”
— Dr Sin Yong, Medical Director, IN Eternity Clinic

Frequently Asked Questions

Hair Hyperstimulation Laser Therapy — Dr Sin Yong's proprietary laser protocol using calibrated energy to hyperstimulate hair follicles from the resting phase back into active growth.
No — H2LT is a non-drug, non-invasive laser treatment. It is particularly suitable for patients who cannot or choose not to take hair loss medication.
6–10 initial sessions followed by monthly maintenance. Response is usually reviewed after four to six sessions.
H2LT uses a proprietary calibrated protocol that Dr Sin Yong has refined specifically for follicle stimulation — with settings chosen for each patient’s pattern and stage, rather than the fixed output of standard low-level laser therapy (LLLT) devices.
Yes — and combining is usually recommended. The combination of H2LT + prescription medication + topical minoxidil + growth factors addresses all aspects of follicle health simultaneously.

Pricing depends on the area treated and the number of sessions your plan involves, which vary with your skin and concern. Because the course is tailored, IN Eternity Clinic sets out the full plan and cost at consultation rather than a fixed price.

Most patients describe a warm or light prickling sensation during treatment, managed with cooling and adjustable settings. Numbing can be applied where helpful. The sensation passes quickly, and what to expect is explained beforehand.

Results from H2LT laser hair therapy build in the weeks after each session as the skin renews, and are commonly maintained with periodic treatment. The interval depends on your skin and concern, and is planned individually.

It is most useful where hair is thinning but still present. At the temples and front, recession that has left smooth, shiny skin for years usually has too few follicles left to respond, and this is assessed honestly before a course is suggested.

The underlying cause of pattern hair loss continues, so any benefit gradually fades over the following months once sessions stop. Maintenance sessions and continued medical treatment are what keep the gain.

Yes. It is used for female pattern thinning and as support during postpartum shedding, and because it is drug-free it can be considered when hair loss medicines are being avoided, after doctor review.

The Science — Photobiomodulation

Low-level laser therapy stimulates hair follicle cells through photobiomodulation — specific laser wavelengths (630–670nm) are absorbed by cytochrome C oxidase in follicle mitochondria, increasing ATP production, reducing oxidative stress and promoting cellular proliferation. This shifts follicles from the resting telogen phase back into active anagen growth.

H2LT delivers 3–5× the power density of consumer laser hair devices, applied systematically in a pattern designed to stimulate follicles across all stages of the hair cycle simultaneously — rather than the fixed low-power dose of at-home devices.

Who Should Consider H2LT

Early androgenetic alopecia — Grade I–III pattern hair loss in men or women. Earlier treatment rescues more follicles from permanent miniaturisation.

Postpartum hair loss — Considered during breastfeeding after doctor review. Accelerates recovery from postpartum telogen effluvium. Side effects are uncommon and usually mild.

Chronic telogen effluvium — Diffuse thinning from stress, nutritional deficiency or hormonal changes. Restores cycling while underlying causes are addressed.

Post-transplant maintenance — Protects existing native hair and supports graft survival after hair transplantation.

H2LT is less effective for advanced alopecia where follicles have permanently miniaturised, or scarring alopecia where follicle destruction has occurred.

H2LT Protocol & Timeline

Each session takes 15–20 minutes. Dr Sin Yong applies the laser systematically across five scalp zones — frontal, mid-scalp, vertex and bilateral temporal — spending appropriate time on zones of greatest concern identified from scalp mapping.

Recommended course: 6–8 sessions spaced 2–3 weeks apart, followed by monthly maintenance. Most patients notice reduced shedding within 4–6 weeks. New growth becomes visible by 3–4 months. Full results are assessed at 6 months. H2LT is often combined with topically applied exosome products or the Luminescence Laser depending on each patient's degree of loss and clinical response.

H2LT vs At-Home Laser Devices

Many patients arrive having tried at-home laser caps or helmets with limited results. Consumer devices deliver fixed low-power energy uniformly across the scalp. They are FDA-cleared for safety but deliver lower power density, so their effect on shifting follicles from telogen to anagen is less predictable — particularly in areas of advanced miniaturisation.

H2LT uses medical-grade systems with precisely calibrated fluence levels delivering 3–5× the power density of consumer devices, applied systematically by Dr Sin Yong according to each patient's scalp mapping. Clinical studies on medical-grade LLLT show statistically significant improvement in hair count and density after 16–26 weeks. H2LT combines these protocols with Dr Sin Yong's experience adjusting parameters to individual patient response over time.

H2LT is used across hair types and skin tones, has little downtime, and may be considered during pregnancy and breastfeeding after doctor review, when most hair loss medicines are avoided.

H2LT as Part of a Comprehensive Plan

H2LT is rarely used in isolation. Dr Sin Yong integrates it into a comprehensive hair restoration programme that addresses all contributing factors simultaneously. Depending on the patient's diagnosis, H2LT is combined with topical minoxidil, Nourkin TricoVerde® supplementation, Derive Serum exosome topical, and correction of nutritional deficiencies identified on blood tests.

For patients with significant androgenetic alopecia, the Luminescence Laser is Dr Sin Yong's recommended first-line laser therapy. H2LT then builds on this foundation with the hyperstimulation protocol, systematically targeting zones of greatest hair thinning. Blood test monitoring at 3 and 6 months allows objective assessment of nutritional markers alongside clinical hair density evaluation.

Comfort

Does it hurt? Comfort and numbing

H2LT is a low-level laser treatment: it works through light energy absorbed in the follicle rather than by heating or breaking the scalp, so it is one of the more comfortable treatments at the clinic. No numbing cream or anaesthetic is used. Most people feel little more than gentle warmth over the scalp, sometimes with a faint tingle, and many find the 15 to 20 minutes relaxing.

Protective eyewear is worn throughout because of the bright light. Dr Sin Yong works systematically across the frontal, mid-scalp, vertex and temporal zones; if any area feels unusually warm, the setting or distance is adjusted. A sensitive, itchy or flaky scalp, for example from seborrhoeic dermatitis, may feel more reactive and is usually settled first. Afterwards there is no soreness or mark, the hair can be styled as normal, and you can go straight back to your day.

Questions

More questions answered

Can I wash or style my hair after H2LT?

Yes. There is nothing on the scalp to protect afterwards, so you can wash, blow-dry and style as usual the same day. It is easiest to arrive with clean, dry hair and without heavy styling products or oils, so the light reaches the scalp evenly. Hair colouring can continue, though a scalp irritated from colouring may be treated a few days later.

Is H2LT suitable while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Low-level laser is non-drug and non-thermal, which is why it is often considered for women who are breastfeeding and cannot take some hair loss medicines. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are discussed at assessment, together with blood tests, because shedding at these times often has a hormonal or nutritional cause that should be identified first.

Will people notice I'm having hair treatment?

No. There are no marks, no redness and nothing to hide afterwards, and you can return to work straight away. Because change in density builds slowly over months, people tend to notice that your hair looks fuller or that your parting looks narrower rather than that you are having treatment.
