What is GF Lift?
GF Lift, short for Girl’s Friend Lift, is IN Eternity Clinic’s radiofrequency treatment for the external intimate area. It runs on the CLASSYS Volnewmer, the same 6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency device used for VF Lift – Vertical Facelift on the face.
Radiofrequency heats the deeper layer of the skin evenly while the tip is continuously water-cooled, so the surface stays comfortable. Heat prompts collagen to contract and then remodel over the following weeks, which is why the skin of the outer labia and vaginal opening can feel firmer gradually rather than on the day.
GF Lift is external only. No probe is placed inside the vagina. Concerns inside the vagina, such as dryness or discomfort, are assessed separately for G Lift (MonaLisa Touch).
Who considers GF Lift?
Women usually ask about GF Lift when they notice changes in the outer intimate area:
- A looser or less firm feel at the vaginal opening after vaginal delivery
- Softer, crepey or lax skin of the outer labia after weight change or with age
- Wanting a non-surgical option and little downtime
What GF Lift cannot do matters as much:
- It does not repair a prolapse or the pelvic floor muscles.
- It is not a treatment for urinary leaking.
- It does not treat internal dryness or pain during sex caused by thinning of the vaginal lining.
- It does not reduce large or uneven labia; that is a surgical question and is referred.

Why a doctor with obstetrics and gynaecology training assesses you
Intimate concerns often have a medical cause that should be found before any aesthetic treatment. Dr Sin Yong, Medical Director, holds the Professional Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, as well as an MSc in Practical Dermatology.
The assessment covers:
- Your obstetric history: deliveries, tears and stitches, and how long ago you gave birth
- Menopause stage, contraception, and whether a copper or hormonal IUD is in place
- Cervical screening: whether it is up to date
- Symptoms that need a gynaecologist rather than an aesthetic treatment: abnormal bleeding, a bulge or heaviness, persistent pain, recurrent infections, or skin changes on the vulva
Dr Sin Yong is not a gynaecologist. If anything needs a gynaecologist or urogynaecologist, you are referred before treatment. You can ask for a chaperone to be present at the examination and treatment.
A GF Lift session, step by step
- The area is examined and the plan confirmed.
- Hair can be trimmed or shaved a day before; no numbing cream is usually needed.
- You are draped so only the external area being treated is exposed.
- The water-cooled Volnewmer tip is moved over the outer labia, vulval skin and opening for about 20 to 30 minutes. It feels warm.
- You go home the same day. Intercourse, swimming and saunas are usually avoided for a day or two.
How many sessions, and what to expect
The number of sessions varies with your tissues and goals and is decided at the assessment; a short course is typical, reviewed before any further session. Collagen remodels gradually, so changes are judged over the following weeks rather than on the day. Results differ between women, and the natural effects of ageing continue, so some women choose an occasional maintenance session.
What the evidence says, and the regulators’ view
Radiofrequency for intimate laxity has been studied mainly in small trials. In one randomised, sham-controlled trial of a single surface-cooled radiofrequency treatment of the vaginal opening, more women in the treated group reported no laxity at six months. Studies vary in device, method and length of follow-up, so results cannot be assumed to transfer exactly to every device.
In 2018 the US Food and Drug Administration warned against marketing energy-based devices for vaginal “rejuvenation” or cosmetic purposes without adequate evidence. This is why GF Lift is offered only after a medical assessment, with its limits explained, and never as a treatment for incontinence, prolapse or sexual function.
Side effects and who should wait
Side effects are usually mild: warmth, pinkness or slight swelling for a few hours. Rarely, the skin can blister if heat builds up, which is why the tip is kept moving and continuously cooled.
Treatment is postponed or not done if you are pregnant, are within about three months of giving birth or have not had your postnatal check, have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, have an active infection such as thrush or cold sores, have unexplained bleeding, or have a skin condition of the vulva that needs a diagnosis. An IUD or other metal implant is reviewed first.

What is GF Lift?

Is GF Lift the same as vaginal tightening?
Not exactly. GF Lift treats the external tissues: the outer labia, the vulval skin and the vaginal opening. It does not tighten the vaginal canal from inside or repair the pelvic floor. Some women notice the opening feels firmer, but results vary between women. Internal concerns such as dryness are assessed for G Lift, and laxity of the pelvic floor is treated with pelvic floor training first.
Does GF Lift hurt?
Most women describe a warm, comfortable sensation. The Volnewmer tip is water-cooled throughout, so numbing cream is usually not needed. A session takes about 20 to 30 minutes. The area may look slightly pink for a few hours afterwards.
How is GF Lift different from G Lift?
G Lift is a fractional CO2 laser (MonaLisa Touch) applied inside the vagina, mainly considered for dryness and discomfort after childbirth or menopause. GF Lift is radiofrequency applied only to the outside, for the feel and firmness of the outer labia, vulval skin and opening. Some women need one, some neither, and a few both; the assessment decides.
Can GF Lift help after childbirth?
It may help the outer tissues feel firmer once postnatal recovery is complete, usually no earlier than three months after delivery and after the postnatal check. Pelvic floor physiotherapy comes first for looseness, leaking or heaviness, and any prolapse is referred to a gynaecologist. Treatment is not done while pregnant.
Does GF Lift help with leaking urine?
GF Lift is not a treatment for urinary incontinence. Leaking with coughing or exercise is first treated with supervised pelvic floor training, and persistent or heavy symptoms are referred to a gynaecologist or urogynaecologist. Dr Sin Yong checks for these symptoms at the assessment so they are not missed.

You are assessed by Medical Director Dr Sin Yong, who holds the Professional Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He takes an obstetric and gynaecological history and examines the area. He is not a gynaecologist and refers you when something needs one. You can ask for a chaperone.
