CLASSYS Volnewmer: How the Device Works
The CLASSYS Volnewmer at IN Eternity Clinic: its frequency, tips and cooling as CLASSYS describes them, how Dr Sin Yong’s protocol uses it, and who it may not suit.
WhatsApp to Enquire →Key facts ↓The CLASSYS Volnewmer is a monopolar radiofrequency device that heats the dermis through a continuously water-cooled tip, with four tips for the eyes, face contour, face and body. At IN Eternity Clinic on Orchard Road it is the platform for Dr Sin Yong’s VF Lift – Vertical Facelift, with its Lift, Sculpt and Restore modes. Downtime is usually minimal.
- Maker and model: Volnewmer, made by CLASSYS, listed as monopolar radiofrequency at 6.78 MHz through a single electrode [1].
- Four tips: I tip for the eyes (0.25 cm²), F tip for face contouring (3.0 cm²), V tip for the face (4.0 cm²) and S tip for the body (16.0 cm²) [1].
- Cooling and control: continuous water cooling, single-pulse delivery with real-time impedance detection, and a curved, tilted tip head; CLASSYS states the target is the papillary and reticular dermis with the epidermis protected [1].
- Water cooling vs cryogen: in a randomised split-face study of 22 Asian women, monopolar radiofrequency with continuous water cooling gave lifting, volume and wrinkle results comparable to cryogen-spray cooling, with significantly less procedural pain [2].
What is the CLASSYS Volnewmer?
The CLASSYS Volnewmer is a monopolar radiofrequency (RF) device that heats the deeper layers of the skin through a single, continuously water-cooled electrode tip.
In monopolar RF, current flows from a single treatment electrode into the tissue. The tissue’s resistance to that current turns it into heat in the dermis and the fibrous septa beneath it, while the cooled tip protects the surface. Heat at the right temperature makes collagen contract and, over the following months, prompts new collagen. CLASSYS lists the Volnewmer as a 6.78 MHz monopolar system with continuous water cooling [1].
| Feature | What CLASSYS states | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Energy | Monopolar radiofrequency, single electrode | Volumetric heating of the dermis and septa, not of a single focal point |
| Frequency | 6.78 MHz | The same frequency band used by other monopolar RF systems |
| Cooling | Continuous water cooling through the tip | The surface is cooled constantly, which supports comfort and steady heating |
| Tips | I (eyes) 0.25 cm²; F (face contouring) 3.0 cm²; V (face) 4.0 cm²; S (body) 16.0 cm² | Tip size matched to the area, from the eyelids to the abdomen |
| Control | Single pulse with real-time impedance detection | Energy delivery adjusts to the tissue under the tip |
| Tip design | Curved and tilted tip head; Hidden Edge Technology | Even contact on curved areas such as the jawline |
| Target layer | Papillary and reticular dermis, with the epidermis protected | Tightening below the surface with little visible downtime |
CLASSYS is among the device makers that have invited Dr Sin Yong to share his clinical expertise internationally, and he has presented his Volnewmer protocol in Bangkok and Brazil: at the CLASSYS APAC 2026 conference in Bangkok, and in Brazil at CLASSYS’s invitation. That is a professional relationship, not an endorsement of any result.
How does Volnewmer radiofrequency tighten skin?
It heats the dermis and the fibrous bands beneath it evenly, so collagen contracts and new collagen forms over the following months, while the cooled tip protects the surface.
Radiofrequency heats a volume of tissue rather than a series of points. That suits skin laxity spread across an area, and it explains why change is usually gradual: collagen remodelling takes weeks to months. Continuous water cooling keeps the surface protected while heat builds below it. In a split-face study, monopolar RF with continuous water cooling gave results comparable to cryogen-spray cooling, with less pain during treatment [2].
What changes most between treatments on the same platform is the plan: where the energy goes, in which direction and how much. That is why the clinic uses the Volnewmer through a defined protocol rather than a single setting.
Which treatments use the CLASSYS Volnewmer at IN Eternity Clinic?
At IN Eternity Clinic the Volnewmer is the platform for VF Lift – Vertical Facelift, Dr Sin Yong’s radiofrequency treatment with three modes: Lift, Sculpt and Restore.
| Mode | What it does | Typical aims or areas |
|---|---|---|
| Lift | Tightens and lifts the skin, with passes planned along vertical vectors against the direction the face has descended | A sharper jawline, softer nasolabial folds and better overall definition |
| Sculpt | Flattens areas that pouch or bulge; does not affect facial hair | A puffy lower face, the bulge beside the nasolabial fold, a double chin |
| Restore | Customised to hollow areas, where it helps the patient’s own fat regenerate; volume develops over the following weeks | Temples, forehead, under the eyes, lateral cheeks, prejowl sulcus; also the body |
Nothing is injected, so there is no risk of overfilling, and the volume Restore builds is your own tissue. Most people need two to four sessions, with annual maintenance, and return to normal activities the same day. The protocol is also used on the tummy, underarms and arms. It is used for older and younger patients, and how much it improves varies with age.
After a poor filler experience, once the filler problem itself has been dealt with, Dr Sin Yong uses this treatment to help the face recover a natural look. He also often sees pigmentation lighten after treatment, although it is not a pigment treatment; that is his clinical observation, not a promised effect.
How does the Volnewmer differ from other lifting devices?
Compared with other monopolar RF systems, the main difference is continuous water cooling; compared with focused ultrasound, RF heats a broad volume rather than focal points.
| CLASSYS Volnewmer | Thermage FLX | Focused ultrasound (HIFU) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Energy | Monopolar radiofrequency | Monopolar radiofrequency | Focused ultrasound to focal points |
| Surface cooling | Continuous water cooling through the tip | Cryogen spray between pulses | Gel contact; no active cooling needed |
| Main layer heated | Dermis and fibrous septa | Dermis and fibrous septa | Dermis to SMAS at fixed depths |
| Typical feel | Steady, building warmth | Pulses of building heat | Brief deep aches over bone |
| At IN Eternity | VF Lift – Vertical Facelift | Thermage FLX face, eyes and body | HIFU lifting |
Monopolar RF systems share the same underlying biology; cooling, comfort, tip design and the treatment plan are where they differ. The comparison of water-cooled and cryogen-cooled RF is set out in Oligio vs Thermage, and focused ultrasound in HIFU in Singapore. Thermage is described on the Thermage page.
Is the Volnewmer suitable for Asian skin?
Yes, generally: radiofrequency is not absorbed by skin pigment, and the cooled tip protects the surface, so the darkening risk is low compared with lasers and resurfacing.
That makes RF a practical choice in skin types III to V and in Singapore’s climate, where post-laser darkening is a common concern. The study comparing water-cooled and cryogen-cooled monopolar RF was carried out in Asian women [2]. Heat can still cause temporary redness or swelling, and, rarely, surface burns if energy or contact is wrong, which is why settings and passes are adjusted to tissue response throughout.
- Lean faces are planned so that tightening does not take away fullness a face cannot spare.
- Areas near the eyes use the small I tip with settings for thin skin.
- Sun protection and gentle skin care follow, as after any energy treatment.
How the clinic’s lifting options compare by face shape is set out in sagging face treatment.
Who may not suit treatment on the Volnewmer?
People with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, those who are pregnant, and those with active infection in the area are not treated; advanced sagging may need another route.
- A pacemaker, defibrillator or other implanted electronic device. Monopolar RF passes current through the body, so it is not used.
- Pregnancy. Elective treatment is postponed; see pregnancy and breastfeeding safety.
- Metal implants in the treatment area, which are reviewed individually.
- Active skin infection, open wounds or inflamed skin in the area.
- Advanced descent or significant excess skin, where a surgical opinion may suit better; Dr Sin Yong says so rather than avoiding it.
- Wanting a filler-like change on the day. Restore builds volume gradually over the following weeks.
If the Volnewmer is not the right tool, another lifting option, filler, or no treatment may be discussed at assessment.
What Dr Sin Yong checks before using the Volnewmer
- Which zones need lifting, which pouch or bulge, and which are hollow.
- How the face has descended, which sets the direction of the passes.
- Previous filler, threads or energy treatments, and whether any filler problem needs dealing with first.
- Implanted electronic devices, metal implants and medical history.
- Skin thickness around the eyes and neck.
- Whether radiofrequency, another lifting approach or no treatment suits your face.
General clinical observations used at consultation; they describe what is checked, not any individual result.
What happens at a Volnewmer session?
After face mapping, the cooled tip is passed over each zone in planned directions; most people feel steady, building warmth and return to normal activities the same day.
- Assessment and mapping. Dr Sin Yong maps which zones need Lift, Sculpt or Restore and agrees the plan and likely number of sessions.
- Preparation. Cleansing, consented photographs and a check of any implants or devices.
- Treatment. The water-cooled tip is passed zone by zone, with energy and passes adjusted to tissue response. The I tip is used near the eyes.
- Straight after. Mild redness or warmth usually settles within hours, and most people return to normal activities the same day.
- The following weeks. Some tightening may be felt on the day; in hollow zones treated with Restore, volume develops gradually over the following weeks.
- Review and maintenance. Further sessions are planned as needed, with annual maintenance to sustain the result.

Frequently asked questions
Is the CLASSYS Volnewmer available in Singapore?
Yes. The CLASSYS Volnewmer is available at IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza, Singapore 228210, near Orchard MRT, where it is the platform for Dr Sin Yong’s VF Lift – Vertical Facelift. Treatment follows a consultation and face mapping.
What is Volnewmer?
Volnewmer is a monopolar radiofrequency device made by CLASSYS. It heats the dermis and the fibrous bands beneath it at 6.78 MHz through a continuously water-cooled tip, with four tips for the eyes, face contour, face and body. The aim is skin tightening, with change building over the following months.
Is Volnewmer the same as VF Lift – Vertical Facelift?
No. Volnewmer is the device; VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is Dr Sin Yong’s protocol on it, with three modes: Lift, Sculpt and Restore. The protocol decides where, in which direction and how much energy goes, zone by zone, rather than running one setting over the whole face.
Volnewmer vs Thermage: what is the difference?
Both are monopolar radiofrequency devices that heat the dermis to tighten skin. Thermage FLX cools with a cryogen spray between pulses; Volnewmer cools continuously with water through the tip. That changes the rhythm and comfort of treatment rather than the underlying biology; the plan and the doctor matter more than the brand.
Does Volnewmer treatment hurt?
Most people feel steady, building warmth, sometimes with brief deeper heat over bony areas. Continuous cooling helps, and energy can be adjusted during the session. A split-face study found less procedural pain with water-cooled monopolar RF than with cryogen-spray cooling.
How many Volnewmer sessions will I need?
For VF Lift – Vertical Facelift, typically two to four sessions, depending on whether the main concern is laxity, pouching or hollowing, with annual maintenance to sustain the result. Dr Sin Yong designs the plan for each face at consultation.
Is there downtime after Volnewmer?
Usually little. Mild redness or warmth usually settles within hours, and most people return to work and normal activities the same day. In hollow zones treated with Restore, volume develops gradually over the following weeks rather than straight away.
Can Volnewmer be used on the body?
Yes. CLASSYS lists a large S tip for the abdomen, arms and thighs, and at IN Eternity Clinic Dr Sin Yong uses VF Lift – Vertical Facelift on the tummy, underarms and arms. Body plans are set at assessment, and how much changes varies between people.
