Acne Marks Removal Singapore
What is post-inflammatory pigmentation?
Pigment deposited in response to an identifiable injury — a spot, a burn, friction, a procedure. It is the mark the inflammation left.
Read more: Acne Marks Removal Singapore
How is post-inflammatory pigmentation told apart from similar conditions?
PIH follows something — if you can name the injury, it is probably PIH. Melasma has no preceding injury and a symmetrical pattern. Treating PIH aggressively can cause more PIH.

What is assessed before treating post-inflammatory pigmentation?
The original insult and its timing, epidermal versus dermal depth, Fitzpatrick type, and whether the causative inflammation is still active.
Read more: Acne Marks Removal Singapore
When is treatment deferred?
If the original condition — acne, dermatitis, friction — is still active, that is addressed before the pigment.

Is a red acne mark the same as PIH?
No. Red or pink marks are usually post-inflammatory erythema, from small blood vessels. Brown marks are pigment. The two are treated differently.

Will PIH fade on its own?
Surface marks often fade over months with sun protection. Deeper pigment can persist much longer, which is when treatment is usually considered.

Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal Singapore
What is the difference between age spots and sun spots?
They are the same thing. Age spots, sun spots and liver spots are everyday names for solar lentigines: flat, sharply edged brown spots caused by years of UV exposure. They are not caused by age itself or by the liver. Unlike freckles they do not fade in winter or with less sun, and unlike melasma they are not symmetrical patches.

How many sessions does age spot removal take?
Many age spots lighten markedly after one session, and most respond within one to three sessions spaced at least six weeks apart. Darker or thicker spots, spots on the hands and spots in darker skin may need more. The plan is reviewed at each visit, and spots that do not behave as expected are re-examined rather than simply treated again.
Read more: Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal Singapore
Will age spots come back after laser?
A treated spot usually stays lighter, but the tendency to form spots remains. Further sun exposure can bring back pigment in the same place or create new spots nearby. Daily sunscreen, shade and a hat protect the result, and small new spots can be treated early at a review visit.
Read more: Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal Singapore
Can age spots on the hands be removed?
Yes. Spots on the backs of the hands respond to the same pigment lasers, with gentler settings. Healing is slower than on the face, and crusts can last up to two weeks. Hands are exposed to sun every day, including while driving, so sunscreen on the hands afterwards is essential. Volume loss on the hands is a separate concern with separate treatments.
Read more: Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal Singapore
Is laser age spot removal safe for darker skin?
Usually, with adjustments. Darker skin is more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after any laser, so wavelength and energy are chosen for your skin type, spots may be treated in stages, and a test spot is sometimes done first. Avoiding sun in the weeks around treatment, and not picking the crusts, lowers the risk considerably.
Read more: Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal Singapore
How much does age spot removal cost?
Cost depends on how many spots are treated, their size and location, whether the face, hands or other areas are included, the laser used and how many sessions are likely to be needed. Some spots turn out to need a different treatment once examined. Dr Sin Yong gives a written quote after assessment, and the consultation fee is waived with any medical treatment.

Does age spot laser removal hurt?
Most people describe each pulse as a quick rubber-band snap with brief heat. A face session is often ten to twenty minutes. Spots on the upper lip, the nose and over bone feel sharper. Numbing cream can be applied for 20 to 30 minutes when many spots are treated, and cool air is used during and after.
Read more: Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal Singapore
How soon will I see results after age spot removal?
Treated spots look darker first, then flake away as fine crusts, usually within five to ten days on the face and up to two weeks on the hands. The skin underneath is pink and lighter, and its colour settles over the following weeks. Results are judged at the review six to eight weeks later, because a faint brown shadow can appear and fade in that time, especially in darker skin.
Read more: Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal Singapore
Can I wear make-up after age spot removal?
Usually from the next day, once the treated spots are dry. Pat it on gently, because rubbing can lift crusts early and raise the risk of marks, remove it with a mild cleanser without scrubbing, and wear sunscreen underneath every morning. If a spot is raw or weeping, leave it uncovered and contact the clinic.

Pico laser or Q-switched laser for age spots: which is used?
Both can work. In a randomised split-face study of sun spots in Asian patients, a 532 nm picosecond laser cleared pigment at least as well as a 532 nm Q-switched laser, with less post-inflammatory darkening. Both pulse types are available at IN Eternity Clinic, and Dr Sin Yong chooses per spot and skin type.

Are age spots a sign of skin cancer?
Age spots are harmless, but they show that the skin has had a lot of sun, which also raises skin cancer risk, and a few early skin cancers, such as lentigo maligna, can look like a flat brown spot. Every spot is examined with a dermatoscope first; one that is new, changing or unlike the others is checked or sampled, not lasered.
Read more: Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal Singapore
What should I avoid after age spot removal?
For about a week, avoid picking the crusts, saunas, swimming and long spells outdoors, and pause retinoids, acids and scrubs. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning, reapply outdoors and protect the backs of the hands while driving. Plan beach holidays for after the review, because fresh sun on healing skin is the usual cause of darkening.

Age Spots vs Freckles vs Melasma
How can I tell if it is melasma or age spots?
Age spots have sharp edges you can trace, stay the same all year and often appear on the backs of the hands too. Melasma is a patch with blurred edges, usually matching on both cheeks, forehead or upper lip, and is linked to hormones, light and heat. An examination confirms it.
Read more: Age Spots vs Freckles vs Melasma
Are freckles and age spots the same?
No. Freckles appear in childhood, are small and many, and fade with less sun. Age spots appear in adulthood after years of sun, are larger and sharply edged, and do not fade. Both respond to pigment laser.
Read more: Age Spots vs Freckles vs Melasma
Which is hardest to treat?
Melasma, because it is chronic, involves the deeper skin and responds to hormones, light and heat. It is managed over time rather than cleared. Freckles and age spots usually respond within a few sessions.
Read more: Age Spots vs Freckles vs Melasma
Can I have melasma and freckles at the same time?
Yes, and it is common. The plan treats them separately: spot settings for freckles, gentle toning and topical care for melasma, and sun protection for both.
Read more: Age Spots vs Freckles vs Melasma
Do age spots mean skin cancer?
Age spots themselves are harmless. They show the skin has had a lot of sun, which also raises skin cancer risk. A spot that is irregular, changing, bleeding or different from the others should be examined before any treatment.
Read more: Age Spots vs Freckles vs Melasma
Why did my pigmentation get worse after laser?
Common reasons are post-inflammatory darkening after treatment, melasma that was treated with strong settings, or sun exposure soon after. The cause is assessed, laser is paused and the skin is settled with sun protection and topical care.

What is Hori’s naevus?
Hori’s naevus is a deeper, grey-brown or blue-grey speckled pigment on the upper cheeks, common in East Asian women and often mistaken for melasma. It needs longer laser wavelengths and several sessions, and does not respond to melasma creams.

Chemical Peel Singapore
Will my skin peel visibly?
Often not, or only lightly, after superficial peels; some people see fine flaking for a day or two. Medium-depth peels cause clear peeling for about a week, with tightness and darkening first. You will be told what to expect for your specific peel so you can plan work, travel and social commitments around it.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
How often can I have a chemical peel?
Superficial peels are usually repeated every two to four weeks as a series of several sessions, then less often for maintenance. Medium-depth peels are spaced months apart because the skin needs longer to recover. The exact interval depends on how your skin responds and is adjusted after each session.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Can a chemical peel treat acne scars?
Superficial peels help acne marks, congestion and fine texture but do not lift true depressed scars. Ice-pick scars may respond to focal TCA CROSS, while rolling and boxcar scars usually need subcision, RF microneedling or CO2 laser, often in combination. Dr Sin Yong identifies the scar types before recommending any of these.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Can I have a peel if I have melasma?
Sometimes, with caution. Irritation can worsen melasma, so gentle acids, careful skin preparation and strict sun protection are essential. Peels are usually one supporting part of a wider melasma plan that may include topical treatment, oral medicines and gentle laser, rather than the main treatment on their own.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Can I have a peel while taking isotretinoin?
Generally peels are deferred during isotretinoin and for a period afterwards, because the skin is more fragile, slower to heal and more prone to irritation. Dr Sin Yong will advise on timing based on your dose, how long you have been taking it and when the course ended, and will suggest gentler options in the meantime.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
What does TCA CROSS feel like, and what is the recovery?
Each scar stings sharply for a few seconds as the acid is applied, then settles; numbing cream is usually not needed because only tiny areas are treated. The treated scars turn white, then form small dark crusts over the next days, which lift in about a week. Make-up can usually cover them once crusts form, and sunscreen is used throughout.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
How many peels are needed for acne marks?
Brown acne marks usually need a series of superficial peels, often four to six sessions two to four weeks apart, together with daily sunscreen. Marks fade gradually and at different rates in different people. Red marks respond less to peels. Progress is reviewed after a few sessions and the plan is changed if the marks are not responding.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Can a chemical peel be combined with laser?
Yes, but usually not on the same day for the same area. Peels and lasers are commonly alternated over weeks, for example a superficial peel between laser toning sessions, or peels to prepare congested skin before a scar laser. Spacing protects the skin barrier and lowers pigment risk. Dr Sin Yong sets the sequence after examining your skin.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Can I wear make-up after a chemical peel?
After a superficial peel, light mineral make-up can often be worn from the next day if the skin is not raw or stinging. After a medium-depth peel, wait until peeling has finished, usually about a week, because make-up and removers can irritate new skin and raise the risk of pigment. Sunscreen comes first either way. You are told the timing for your specific peel before you leave.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Is a chemical peel safe for darker skin?
It can be, with more care. In Fitzpatrick III to V skin the main risk is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, so preparation with sunscreen, gentler acids such as salicylic or mandelic, lower starting strengths and strict aftercare are used. Medium-depth peels are kept for selected cases after a test. Salicylic acid peels in particular have been studied in darker skin types with a low rate of complications.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
How soon will I see results from a chemical peel?
Skin often looks smoother and brighter within a week of a superficial peel, once flaking settles. Changes in congestion, brown acne marks and tone build over a series, so they are usually judged after three or four sessions rather than after one. Medium-depth peels show their effect after peeling ends and keep improving over weeks. How much changes varies between people.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Chemical peel vs laser toning: which suits pigmentation?
It depends on the pigment. Superficial peels help brown acne marks, dullness and congestion; laser toning targets pigment with very short pulses and is often preferred for melasma, where irritation must be kept low. Many plans alternate the two over weeks. The differences are compared in laser toning vs chemical peel, and the choice is made after examining your skin.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Are at-home chemical peels safe?
Low-strength home peels are usually safe when used as directed and not combined with other strong actives. Problems come from using them too often, on irritated skin, or alongside retinoids and scrubs, which can cause stinging and darkening in Asian skin. Stop them about a week before a clinic peel and mention the product at assessment.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Does a chemical peel hurt?
Most superficial peels cause tingling, warmth or stinging for one to three minutes, eased by a cool fan, and then settle once the acid is neutralised or removed. Stronger peels sting more. Discomfort is rated during the peel so that the contact time can be shortened if needed, and numbing is not usually required.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
What should I avoid after a chemical peel?
For about a week avoid picking or peeling flaking skin, scrubs, retinoids and acids, saunas and hard exercise in the heat, and direct sun. Use a gentle cleanser, a bland moisturiser and mineral sunscreen, reapplied after sweating. Light make-up is usually fine from the next day after a superficial peel.
Read more: Chemical Peel Singapore
Can I have a chemical peel if I have sensitive skin?
Often, yes, with a gentler acid such as mandelic or lactic, a shorter contact time and a test area first. If the sensitivity is rosacea or eczema, that is treated first, because a peel on inflamed skin tends to sting and can darken. The choice is made after examining the skin.

Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Can dark eye circles be removed for good?
They can usually be reduced, but rarely removed for good. Pigment can return with sun, rubbing or hormonal change, filler softens over months, and the under-eye keeps ageing. A plan that treats the actual cause, followed by sensible maintenance, gives the most lasting change.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Is laser safe under the eyes?
It can be, when the settings are low, protective eye shields are used, sessions are spaced out and sun protection is strict. The main risk in Asian skin is darkening after inflammation, which is why laser is used conservatively and only where pigment is a real contributor.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Does tear-trough filler get rid of dark circles?
Only the part caused by a hollow. Filler reduces the shadow that a groove casts; it does not lighten brown pigment or hide visible vessels. Where several causes are present, filler is one step in a staged plan.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Does Rejuran Eye help dark circles?
It can help where thin, crepey skin is letting vessels show through, by supporting skin quality over a course of sessions. It does not fill hollows, remove eye bags or lighten pigment, so it is used when thin skin is a main contributor.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Do eye creams work for dark circles?
Creams help hydration and mild surface pigment, and a cold compress helps puffiness. They cannot fill a hollow, remove a fat bulge or reach deeper pigment, which is why persistent dark circles usually need a medical plan.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Why are my dark circles worse in the morning or when I am tired?
Fluid shifts overnight, nasal congestion and poor sleep make the vessels under thin lid skin more visible and add puffiness that deepens shadows. These factors change how dark circles look from day to day but not the underlying type.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Can men have dark eye circle treatment?
Yes. The causes are the same in men, and the assessment and options are identical. Men often have thicker skin and more prominent eye bags, which is taken into account when choosing between filler, laser and other treatments.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
How do I choose between filler, laser and Rejuran Eye?
By the type of dark circle you have. Filler is for a hollow, laser for brown pigment, and Rejuran Eye for thin skin. Many people need two of these in sequence. Dr Sin Yong confirms which applies at an in-person assessment.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Does dark eye circle treatment hurt?
Laser toning under the eyes feels like light snapping or warmth and takes only minutes, without numbing. Filler and Rejuran Eye are done after numbing cream, and most people feel pressure and brief stings rather than pain. The under-eye is sensitive, so the pace is set by you, and a cold compress afterwards eases tenderness and swelling.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
How soon will I see results from dark circle treatment?
It depends on the type. Filler softens a hollow straight away, although the final look is judged at about two weeks once swelling has gone. Pigment lightens gradually over a laser course and is usually noticeable after a few sessions. Skin boosters work over weeks to months as skin quality improves, so combined plans are judged on photographs over a few months.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Can I wear make-up after dark circle treatment?
After laser toning, mineral make-up can usually go on the same day once any pinkness has faded. After filler or Rejuran Eye, it is better to wait until the next day so the injection points have closed, and then to apply it gently without pressing on the area. A concealer with sunscreen is a sensible choice during a laser course.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Is dark circle laser safe for darker skin?
It can be, with care. Skin types III–V darken more easily after inflammation, so energy is kept low, sessions are spaced three to four weeks apart and daily sunscreen is essential. A test area may be done first if you have had pigment problems after earlier treatments. If the darkness is mainly a shadow or visible vessels, laser is not the right tool and is not offered.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Why do I have dark circles even when I sleep enough?
Because sleep is often not the main cause. In a study of peri-orbital dark circles, family history was the strongest risk factor, pigment was the main contributor, and sleep showed no correlation with severity. Tiredness can make vessels and shadows more noticeable, but inherited pigment, thin skin and a tear trough hollow are usually what keep circles there.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Are dark circles hereditary?
Often, yes. Research on peri-orbital dark circles found family history to be the most significant risk factor and described them as primarily hereditary. Inheriting a tendency does not mean nothing helps: pigment, thin skin and hollows each respond to different treatments, once the type is identified.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
At what age do dark circles usually start?
Many people notice them early. In one study the average age of onset was about 24 years, and earlier onset went with more severe circles. Hollows and skin laxity tend to add to the picture later, which is why the same person may need a different plan at 25 and at 50.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Can I combine laser and filler in the same visit?
Sometimes, but it is usually better to stage them. Filler is generally placed first, and pigment laser follows once any swelling has settled, so each step can be judged on its own. Rejuran Eye and other boosters are also spaced from laser. Dr Sin Yong sets the order after assessment.
Read more: Dark Eye Circle Treatment Singapore
Do allergies or eczema cause dark circles?
They can. Allergies cause congestion and rubbing, and eczema inflames the thin eyelid skin, and both can leave darker pigment over time. Treating the allergy or eczema comes first; laser on inflamed skin raises the risk of further darkening, particularly in skin types III to V.

Dark Eye Circles
Can eye cream treat dark circles?
Eye cream improves skin hydration and provides temporary brightening for mild surface pigmentation. It cannot fill structural hollow (tear trough deformity), correct vascular shadowing or remove significant pigmentation. Medical treatment is typically required for meaningful improvement.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
Is tear trough filler safe?
It is generally well tolerated when performed by an experienced physician using appropriate products and technique. Vascular complications, prolonged bruising and Tyndall effect are known risks with incorrect technique. Cannula technique with the correct soft HA product minimises these risks.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
How long does tear trough filler last?
Typically 12–18 months, though the periorbital area may metabolise filler faster than other areas due to tissue mobility.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
Can I have both laser and filler for dark circles?
Yes. For patients with both structural hollowing and pigmentation, Dr Sin Yong often plans tear trough filler (structural correction) combined with laser sessions (pigmentation) — usually filler first, then laser after swelling has resolved.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
What type of dark circles do I have?
Look in a mirror under an overhead light, then tilt your face up towards it. If the darkness fades, a hollow is likely contributing. If a brown colour stays, pigment is likely. A bluish tint that deepens when you are tired suggests visible vessels. Most people have a mix, so an in-person examination is the reliable way to tell.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
Can allergies or eczema cause dark circles?
Yes. Allergies and eczema cause itching and rubbing, which darkens the thin skin under the eyes, and nasal congestion can make the area look bluish and puffy. Treating the allergy or eczema and stopping the rubbing is part of the plan; laser or filler alone will not hold if the trigger continues.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
Will laser make my dark circles darker?
It can if the energy is too high or sessions are too close together, especially in Asian skin, which darkens easily after inflammation. That is why laser around the eyes at IN Eternity Clinic uses low-energy settings, spaced sessions and strict sun protection, and why it is only offered where pigment is a real contributor.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
How much does dark circle treatment cost in Singapore?
It depends on which types are present and how many need treatment: filler for a hollow, a course of laser for pigment, or skin-quality treatment for thin skin. A plan that combines these is costed by stage. At IN Eternity Clinic the plan and its cost are set out after assessment. The consultation fee is waived with any medical treatment.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
Does tear trough filler hurt?
Most people feel pressure and brief stings rather than sharp pain. Numbing cream is applied first, most fillers contain a local anaesthetic, and a blunt cannula is often used, which reduces the number of entry points. The area can feel tender and swollen for a few days afterwards. See tear trough filler: who it suits.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
Can I wear make-up after under-eye treatment?
After laser, mineral make-up can usually go on the next day if the skin is not broken. After filler, wait until the next day and apply gently without pressing or rubbing the area, using clean brushes or fingertips. Concealer can help hide bruising while it fades. Avoid eye creams with strong acids for a few days.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
Is laser for dark circles safe for darker skin?
It can be, with conservative settings. Asian skin darkens easily after heat or inflammation, so energy is kept low, sessions are spaced out and sun protection is strict. Laser is used only for the pigment component; it does not help hollows or vessels. A test area or cautious first session is common for darker or reactive skin.
Read more: Dark Eye Circles
Do dark circles come back after treatment?
Hollows treated with filler soften again as the product is broken down, often after a year or so, and ageing continues. Pigment can return with sun, rubbing and allergies, and vascular darkness changes with sleep and health. Maintenance and trigger control therefore matter as much as the first treatment.

Dark Underarms Singapore
What causes dark underarms?
Axillary hyperpigmentation is usually post-inflammatory, driven by friction, shaving and irritation — not by lack of washing.
Read more: Dark Underarms Singapore
How are dark underarms told apart from similar conditions?
Post-inflammatory darkening is flat. Acanthosis nigricans is thickened and velvety and associated with insulin resistance — so texture, not just colour, is assessed.
Read more: Dark Underarms Singapore
What is assessed before treating dark underarms?
Texture as well as colour, hair removal method, deodorant and product history, friction from clothing, and metabolic history where acanthosis is suspected.
Read more: Dark Underarms Singapore
When is treatment deferred?
If the change is velvety and thickened rather than flat, the metabolic question is raised before any cosmetic treatment.
Read more: Dark Underarms Singapore
Will scrubbing or whitening products lighten dark underarms?
Scrubbing usually makes it worse by adding irritation. Some over-the-counter lightening products contain ingredients that irritate thin underarm skin. A gentle plan that removes the trigger works better.
Read more: Dark Underarms Singapore
When should dark underarms be checked by a doctor?
If the skin is thickened or velvety, if it appeared quickly, or if there are similar changes on the neck or groin. These can be signs of acanthosis nigricans, which is linked to insulin resistance.

DEKA TORO Singapore
Is the DEKA TORO available in Singapore?
Yes. The DEKA TORO is available at IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza, Singapore 228210, a designated DEKA Centre of Excellence. Dr Sin Yong uses it for T2 Frax Radiance, laser toning, pigment and tattoo removal. Treatment follows a consultation, where he decides whether it, or the Fotona StarWalker PQX, suits your concern.
Read more: DEKA TORO Singapore
Is the DEKA TORO a pico laser?
Partly. DEKA describes the TORO as a Q-switched Nd:YAG system that combines picosecond and nanosecond emissions in three wavelengths: 785, 532 and 1064 nm. The 785 nm output is picosecond; the 532 and 1064 nm outputs are used for Q-switched work such as laser toning and surface spots. A longer thermal mode is also available.
Read more: DEKA TORO Singapore
What is the 785 nm wavelength used for?
DEKA positions 785 nm for pigmented lesions in the epidermis and dermis of Asian skin types III to V, because melanin absorbs it well while blood vessels absorb it less than 532 or 1064 nm. At IN Eternity Clinic it is the pigment half of T2 Frax Radiance and is used for spots and post-acne marks.
Read more: DEKA TORO Singapore
What is T2 Frax Radiance?
T2 Frax Radiance is IN Eternity Clinic’s own protocol on the TORO. One appointment combines 785 nm picosecond pulses that break up pigment with a longer thermal pulse that warms dermal collagen. The balance between the two is set by Dr Sin Yong for your skin rather than fixed by a package.
Read more: DEKA TORO Singapore
Does DEKA TORO treatment hurt?
Toning usually feels like warm snapping; spot and tattoo work like quick rubber-band flicks, which numbing cream can soften. The thermal pulse feels like gentle heat. Settings can be adjusted during the session, and cooling helps afterwards.
Read more: DEKA TORO Singapore
How many DEKA TORO sessions will I need?
It depends on the concern. Discrete spots may need one to three sessions; toning and melasma care are given as a course; tattoos need several sessions spaced weeks apart, depending on ink and depth. A likely range is given at assessment and reviewed as you respond.
Read more: DEKA TORO Singapore
What is the downtime after DEKA TORO treatment?
Toning usually leaves redness for a few hours. Spots darken and may form fine crusts that flake off over about a week. Tattoo work can cause brief whitening, swelling and occasionally blistering. Sun protection matters throughout, because Asian skin can darken after laser.
Read more: DEKA TORO Singapore
DEKA TORO or Fotona StarWalker PQX: which is better?
Neither is better in general. Both deliver picosecond and Q-switched pulses; the TORO adds 785 nm and a thermal mode, and the StarWalker PQX adds Fotona’s fractional and Er:YAG modes. Dr Sin Yong chooses the one whose wavelength and mode fit your pigment, and some plans use both.

Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
What is dull, uneven tone?
Dullness is a light problem. Skin looks flat when its surface scatters light irregularly rather than reflecting it evenly.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
How is dull, uneven tone told apart from similar conditions?
Dullness is not dirt and is not fixed by cleansing harder. Stripping the barrier increases scatter and makes skin look flatter — the opposite of the intent.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
What is assessed before treating dull, uneven tone?
Whether the dominant contributor is textural, pigmentary, vascular or hydration-related, because each is addressed differently.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
When is treatment deferred?
Escalating exfoliation to chase radiance is the most common self-inflicted cause of persistent dullness.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
Will exfoliating more make dull skin brighter?
Usually not. Over-exfoliation weakens the barrier, causes dryness and redness, and scatters light more, which makes skin look flatter. Gentle, regular exfoliation with good hydration works better.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
Can dull skin be a sign of a medical problem?
Occasionally. Sudden changes in colour or texture, or dullness with tiredness or other symptoms, are worth checking with a doctor. Most dull, uneven tone is related to skin care, sun and age.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
What causes dull skin?
Dull skin usually has more than one cause: dead cells building up on the surface, dehydration from air-conditioning or harsh cleansing, uneven pigment from sun or old breakouts, and background redness. Short sleep and smoking add to it. Because each cause scatters light differently, the first step is working out which one dominates in your skin.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
How can I fix dull skin quickly before an event?
A gentle medical facial such as a Hydrafacial three to seven days before the event, steady hydration and a good night’s sleep make the quickest visible difference. Avoid trying a new strong peel or laser in the final week, as redness or flaking may not settle in time. Longer-lasting change needs a plan over several weeks.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
Is dull skin a sign of dehydration?
Often, but not always. Dehydrated skin feels tight, shows fine crinkly lines and reflects light poorly. Barrier repair with a gentle cleanser, a moisturiser containing ceramides or glycerin, and less frequent exfoliation usually helps within a few weeks. If dullness persists despite good hydration, pigment or texture is more likely the main cause.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
Which ingredients help dull skin at home?
A morning antioxidant such as vitamin C, niacinamide for tone and barrier support, a gentle exfoliant used two or three times a week, and a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day cover most needs. A retinoid at night helps texture over months. Introduce one product at a time so irritation can be traced.
Read more: Dull Skin & Uneven Tone Singapore
How much does treatment for dull skin cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on what is causing the dullness and therefore which treatments are needed, how many sessions are planned and whether home care is enough on its own. A single facial costs less than a combined plan over several months. Dr Sin Yong sets out the options and costs after assessing your skin.

Dull Skin Treatment Singapore
What is the most common treatment for dull skin?
It depends on the cause. Medical facials and light peels help surface build-up and dehydration; laser toning helps scattered pigment; the 675 nm laser helps redness; skin boosters help thin, dehydrated skin. Most plans combine two steps with daily sunscreen.
Read more: Dull Skin Treatment Singapore
Which facial is good for dull skin?
For congested or dehydrated dull skin, a Hydrafacial is often used; for sensitive or dehydrated skin, the LDM ultrasound facial; for a needle-free hydrating booster, the Deep Synergy Booster. The choice follows a look at your skin.
Read more: Dull Skin Treatment Singapore
Is laser toning good for dull skin?
It can help where dullness comes from scattered pigment. It is given as a gentle course with conservative settings, because frequent high-energy toning has been linked to lost pigment in Asian skin. It does not treat dehydration or texture on its own.
Read more: Dull Skin Treatment Singapore
Do skin boosters help dull skin?
They can help when dullness comes from thin, dehydrated skin, by improving hydration and elasticity. They do not treat pigment or redness, so they are often combined with another step.

How soon will my skin look brighter?
Facials and light peels often refresh the surface within days. Laser toning and skin boosters work over weeks to a few months. Results vary between people and are judged on photographs taken in the same light.

Why is my skin dull even though I exfoliate?
Over-exfoliation weakens the barrier and roughens the surface, so the skin scatters more light and looks flatter. Gentle exfoliation a few times a week, with good hydration and sunscreen, usually works better.

Is dull skin the same as pigmentation?
Not quite. Pigmentation is one cause of dullness, but dull skin can also come from surface build-up, dehydration, redness or thinning. When colour unevenness is the main issue, skin brightening treatment is the focus.

How much does dull skin treatment cost?
It depends on the treatments and number of sessions. At IN Eternity Clinic the plan and cost are written down after assessment; the consultation fee is S$120, waived with any medical treatment.

Does dull skin treatment hurt?
Most steps are comfortable. Medical facials feel like cool suction or a mild tingle, light peels sting briefly, and laser toning feels like light snapping or warmth. Skin booster injections are given after numbing cream and feel like quick pricks with some pressure. Comfort is checked throughout, and any step can be paused or adjusted if your skin feels sensitive on the day.

Can I wear make-up after dull skin treatment?
After a Hydrafacial or laser toning, usually later the same day or the next morning once any redness has settled. After a light peel, wait until the skin no longer stings, often a day or so. After booster injections, make-up is usually avoided for the rest of that day to keep the injection points clean. Sunscreen goes on underneath every morning.

How long do results last for dull skin treatment?
It depends on the step and the cause. The glow after a facial usually lasts days to a few weeks; a course of light peels or laser toning lasts longer if sun protection is consistent; skin booster effects usually last months. Skin keeps responding to sun, climate and habits, so most people keep results with a simple routine and occasional maintenance agreed at review.

Hydrafacial or chemical peel for dull skin?
A Hydrafacial cleanses, exfoliates gently, extracts and hydrates in one session, with no flaking, so it suits congested or dehydrated dull skin and the days before an event. A light chemical peel loosens built-up surface cells more thoroughly and can help oily pores, with a few days of fine flaking. Many plans use both at different times; the choice follows what your skin shows.
Read more: Dull Skin Treatment Singapore
Is dull skin treatment safe for sensitive or darker skin?
Usually, with adjustments. Sensitive skin is calmed and the barrier repaired before stronger steps, and gentler facials such as LDM are often chosen first. Darker skin is more prone to temporary darkening after inflammation, so peels are kept light, laser energy is conservative, sessions are spaced and daily sunscreen is part of the plan. Suitability is decided at assessment.

Fotona StarWalker PQX Singapore
Is the Fotona StarWalker PQX available in Singapore?
Yes. The Fotona StarWalker PQX is available at IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza, Singapore 228210, near Orchard MRT. Dr Sin Yong uses it for pigment, tattoo removal, laser toning and the R2 Glow protocol. Treatment follows a consultation, at which he decides whether it, or the DEKA TORO, suits your skin and concern.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker PQX Singapore
Is the StarWalker PQX a pico laser or a Q-switched laser?
Both. Fotona describes the StarWalker PQX as a picosecond laser that also delivers Q-switched Nd:YAG pulses at 1064 nm and 532 nm. Picosecond pulses are used for fine pigment and resistant ink; Q-switched pulses for laser toning and some spots. Which is used depends on what the pigment or ink is.

What is the difference between StarWalker PQX and StarWalker MaQX?
Fotona makes several StarWalker models, including the MaQX, PICO Pro and PQX. IN Eternity Clinic uses the StarWalker PQX, which Fotona describes as combining a picosecond laser with Q-switched Nd:YAG and KTP outputs. What matters for you is whether the wavelength and pulse suit your pigment, which is decided at assessment.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker PQX Singapore
Does StarWalker PQX treatment hurt?
Most people describe toning as warm snapping and spot or tattoo work as quick rubber-band flicks. Numbing cream can be applied for spot and tattoo treatment, and cooling is used afterwards. Discomfort varies with the area, the energy and the person, and settings can be adjusted during the session.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker PQX Singapore
How many StarWalker PQX sessions will I need?
It depends on the concern. Discrete sun spots often need one to three sessions; toning and melasma care are given as a course; tattoos usually need many sessions spaced weeks apart, depending on ink colour, density and depth. Dr Sin Yong gives a likely range at assessment and reviews it as you respond.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker PQX Singapore
What is the downtime after StarWalker PQX treatment?
Toning usually leaves redness for a few hours. Treated spots darken and may form fine crusts for about a week before flaking off. Tattoo treatment can cause brief whitening, swelling and sometimes blistering. Strict sun protection is needed throughout, because Asian skin can darken after laser.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker PQX Singapore
Can the StarWalker PQX treat melasma?
It can be one part of melasma care, using gentle, low-energy passes, but it does not cure melasma, which can return with sun, heat and hormones. Over-treatment can make tone more uneven, so melasma plans are cautious and combine laser with sun protection and medical treatment where suitable.

StarWalker PQX or DEKA TORO: which will I have?
Both are picosecond-and-Q-switched platforms at IN Eternity Clinic. The DEKA TORO adds a 785 nm picosecond wavelength and a thermal mode used in T2 Frax Radiance; the StarWalker PQX runs R2 Glow. Dr Sin Yong chooses per pigment, skin type and goal, and some plans use both.

Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
Does IN Eternity Clinic use PicoSure or PicoWay?
No, neither is used at the clinic. IN Eternity Clinic uses two picosecond platforms: the Fotona StarWalker PQX for the R2 Glow protocol and the DEKA TORO for T2 Frax Radiance. Dr Sin Yong chooses between them according to your pigment type and skin.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
Which pico laser is the strongest?
Strength is not a useful way to compare them. They differ in wavelengths and modes, and the right choice depends on the pigment or ink colour, its depth and your skin type. Too much energy for the skin is a common cause of rebound pigmentation.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
Is pico laser safe for Asian skin?
Picosecond pulses deliver less heat to surrounding skin than older lasers, which helps in Asian skin. Post-inflammatory pigmentation can still occur, so wavelengths, energy, spacing between sessions and sun protection are chosen with your skin type and pigment history in mind.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
How many pico laser sessions will I need?
It depends on what is being treated. Freckles and sun spots may respond in a few sessions, dermal pigment such as Hori’s naevus needs more, tattoos usually need several spaced weeks apart, and melasma is managed with a longer low-energy series.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
What is the difference between pico and Q-switched lasers?
Both use very short pulses to break pigment. Picosecond pulses are roughly a thousand times shorter than Q-switched nanosecond pulses, giving a stronger pressure effect with less heat. Q-switched pulses still have uses, which is why some platforms offer both.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
How much does pico laser cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on the area, the pigment type, the number of sessions, the platform and protocol, and whether other treatments are combined. At IN Eternity Clinic, Dr Sin Yong explains the plan and gives a written quote after assessment, rather than a fixed figure.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
Is Fotona StarWalker a pico laser?
Yes. The StarWalker PQX delivers picosecond pulses and also Q-switched nanosecond pulses at 1064 and 532 nm, with fractional and other modes. Having both pulse types on one platform lets the setting be matched to the pigment.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
What is the difference between Fotona StarWalker and PicoSure?
PicoSure is built around a 755 nm alexandrite wavelength and delivers picosecond pulses. StarWalker PQX is Nd:YAG-based, at 1064 and 532 nm, and offers both picosecond and Q-switched pulses. Both treat pigment and tattoos; which suits depends on the pigment type, its depth and your skin.
Read more: Fotona StarWalker vs Pico Lasers
Is PicoWay or PicoSure better?
Neither is better in every case. They use different wavelengths, which suit different pigments and ink colours. The useful question is which wavelength and setting suit your pigment, and how the clinic will reduce the risk of darkening in Asian skin.

Freckles (Ephelides)
What are freckles?
Ephelides are a genetically determined sun response — more melanin produced without an increase in melanocyte number. They darken with exposure and fade without it.
Read more: Freckles (Ephelides)
How are freckles told apart from similar spots?
Freckles fade in winter and return in summer; solar lentigines do not fade. That single observation separates them, and it changes what treatment can realistically promise.
Read more: Freckles (Ephelides)
What is assessed before treating freckles?
Distribution, whether the pattern is longstanding since childhood, seasonal variation, Fitzpatrick type and family history.
Read more: Freckles (Ephelides)
When is treatment deferred?
Anyone seeking permanent removal is told plainly that the response is genetic and returns with exposure.
Read more: Freckles (Ephelides)
Are freckles and sun spots the same?
No. Freckles appear in childhood and fade without sun; sun spots (solar lentigines) appear later in life after years of exposure and do not fade in the off-season. They are planned differently.
Read more: Freckles (Ephelides)
Is freckle removal suitable for darker or tanned skin?
Often, with adjustments. Darker skin types and recently tanned skin carry a higher risk of temporary darkening after laser, so lower energies, picosecond pulses and a test area are used, and treatment may wait until a tan has faded. Dr Sin Yong assesses your skin type and recent sun exposure before planning.
Read more: Freckles (Ephelides)
Does freckle laser hurt?
Most people describe a quick snapping feeling, like a rubber band flicked on the skin, lasting a fraction of a second per spot. Cooling is used throughout and numbing cream can be applied beforehand for larger areas. The skin may feel warm and look pink for a few hours afterwards.
Read more: Freckles (Ephelides)
Pico or Q-switched laser: which is used for freckles?
Both can lighten freckles. Picosecond lasers deliver shorter pulses that break pigment with less heat, which can help limit darkening afterwards in Asian skin; Q-switched lasers have a long track record for superficial pigment. The choice depends on your skin type, the depth and number of freckles and how you have responded before, and is made at assessment.
Read more: Freckles (Ephelides)
How much does freckle removal cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on how many freckles and areas are treated, the laser used and how many sessions your skin is likely to need. A few scattered freckles cost less to treat than a full face. Dr Sin Yong sets out the plan and cost after assessment, before treatment is booked.

Freckles Removal Singapore
What is the most effective way to remove freckles?
For most adults, a pigment laser used spot by spot, such as a picosecond or Q-switched laser, lightens freckles markedly in one to three sessions. Daily sun protection afterwards decides how long the result holds, because the tendency to freckle is inherited.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Do freckles come back after laser?
They can. Laser clears existing freckle pigment, but the skin still responds to sun by making freckles, so treated ones can darken and new ones appear with sun exposure. Sunscreen, a hat and shade, and occasional maintenance keep results.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
How many sessions does freckle removal take?
Many people need one to three sessions, about four to six weeks apart. Dense freckling, darker skin types and freckles mixed with other pigment may need more, sometimes with a toning course alongside.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Is pico laser good for freckles?
Pico laser is well suited to freckles, which sit in the surface layer. Picosecond pulses break pigment mainly by pressure with less heat spread, which may lower the risk of darkening in Asian skin. Settings are chosen for your skin type.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Is there downtime after freckle removal?
Treated freckles turn darker for about a week and form fine crusts that lift on their own, with mild redness at first. Most people work as usual. Strict sunscreen is needed for the following weeks.

Can creams remove freckles?
Creams can lighten freckles a little and help maintain results, but they rarely clear them on their own. Strong lightening creams bought online can contain undeclared or prescription ingredients and should be avoided. Topical care is chosen after assessment.

Does freckle removal hurt?
Most people describe each pulse as a quick flick, like a rubber band. Numbing cream can be used for larger areas. Discomfort lasts only during treatment, with warmth for a short while afterwards.

What is the difference between freckles and sun spots?
Freckles start in childhood, are small and light brown, and darken with sun and fade without it. Sun spots appear in adulthood after years of sun, are larger and sharply edged, and stay the same through the year. Both respond to pigment laser.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Can freckles be removed if I have melasma too?
Often, with care. Freckles can be treated spot by spot while melasma on the cheeks is approached gently with sun protection and topical care. Using strong settings over melasma can darken it, so the plan separates the two.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Can I wear make-up after freckle removal?
Usually from the next day, once the treated freckles are dry. Pat make-up on gently rather than rubbing, because rubbing can lift the fine crusts early and raise the risk of marks, and remove it with a mild cleanser without scrubbing. Sunscreen goes on underneath every morning. If a spot is raw or weeping, leave it uncovered and contact the clinic.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
How soon will I see results after freckle removal?
Treated freckles darken first, then flake away within about five to ten days, leaving pink, lighter skin. Colour settles over the following weeks, and the result is judged at the review four to six weeks after treatment, because a faint brown shadow can appear and fade in that window. Many freckles lighten markedly after one session; others need a second.

Pico laser or IPL for freckles?
Both are used for freckles in many clinics, and randomised split-face trials in Asian patients have compared laser with IPL. IPL is a broad-spectrum light treatment given over an area; a pigment laser treats each freckle precisely at a chosen wavelength. At IN Eternity Clinic freckles are treated with picosecond or Q-switched laser, with settings chosen for your skin type.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Does freckle removal leave scars?
Scarring is rare after pigment laser for freckles, because the energy is aimed at pigment near the surface and the crusts are superficial. The usual problems are temporary darkening or lightening, not scars. Leaving crusts to lift on their own, avoiding sun and not scrubbing the skin keep the risk low. Any blister or weeping spot should be shown to the clinic early.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
What should I avoid after freckle laser?
For about a week, avoid picking the crusts, scrubs, exfoliating acids and retinoids, saunas and long spells outdoors. Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning, reapply outdoors, and add a hat and shade. Plan beach holidays and outdoor sport for after the review, because fresh sun on healing skin is the usual cause of freckles darkening again.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
How long does a freckle laser session take?
Usually about 15 to 30 minutes for the face, including cleansing and photographs; numbing cream, if used for a larger area, adds around 30 minutes. Shoulders, arms or hands take longer depending on how many spots are treated. Most people go back to work the same day, with darker freckles visible for about a week.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Can I exercise after freckle removal?
Light exercise is usually fine from the next day. Avoid heavy sweating, saunas, hot yoga and swimming for a few days while the fine crusts are forming and lifting, because heat and friction can irritate the skin and raise the risk of darkening. Outdoor exercise needs sunscreen and shade for several weeks.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Can freckles be removed in one session?
Sometimes. A few defined freckles in lighter skin may clear well after one session. Dense freckling, darker skin types and freckles mixed with other pigment usually need two or three sessions, about four to six weeks apart, with lower energy each time. Your skin’s response after the first session sets the plan.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Are freckles genetic?
Largely. The tendency to freckle is inherited, and sunlight brings the freckles out; sun spots, by contrast, come from sun damage itself. Because laser does not change that inherited tendency, freckles can return with sun exposure after treatment, which is why daily sunscreen and occasional maintenance are part of the plan.
Read more: Freckles Removal Singapore
Can freckles on the arms and hands be removed?
Often, yes. Freckles and sun spots on the arms, shoulders and hands respond to pigment laser, though body skin heals more slowly, so crusts can take up to two weeks to lift. Each spot is checked first, and new or changing spots are examined before any laser is used.

FSX Laser Singapore
What does FSX stand for?
It stands for Flawless Smooth Skin: IN Eternity Clinic’s FSX multi-pass laser protocol using thulium and erbium glass energy, planned by Dr Sin Yong.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Can FSX be used on Asian and darker skin?
Yes. FSX is used across skin types at IN Eternity Clinic, including Fitzpatrick V and VI. It relies on thulium and erbium glass energy rather than Q-switched laser, which can carry a real risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) on deeper skin tones. Settings are matched to your skin type at every visit, which makes it a sensible option for both laser skin treatment and pigmentation work in Singapore, where most patients have Asian skin.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Can FSX treat pigmentation?
Yes. Pigmentation, including the dark marks left by acne (PIH), is one of the five main effects FSX targets, and the settings used are chosen for Asian skin with PIH risk in mind.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
How many FSX sessions will I need?
3–5 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for a comprehensive result. Annual maintenance sessions sustain the collagen and skin quality improvement.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Can FSX be used if I have melasma?
Yes, with care. Melasma is treated with its own settings, different from those used for other kinds of pigmentation. Dr Sin Yong looks at your pigmentation first and adapts the plan to it.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
How much downtime does FSX involve?
For most people it is little: any redness usually fades within an hour or two. Where stronger passes have been used, light scabs can appear and stay for roughly 3–7 days; leave them to come away naturally and do not pick. Numbing cream is applied beforehand to keep you comfortable.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Which lasers are used in FSX?
FSX combines thulium and erbium glass energy and does not use Q-switched laser. That choice matters for darker skin and for pigmentation, because these two wavelengths can be set to reach the right depth for each concern without the rebound PIH that Q-switched toning can trigger.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Does FSX treat pigmentation?
Yes. Pigmentation, including dark marks left by acne (PIH), is one of the five main effects FSX targets. Thulium energy acts on melanin-driven pigment such as melasma, sun spots and PIH, which makes FSX a useful option for laser pigmentation work at IN Eternity Clinic, particularly for deeper skin tones where Q-switched settings carry more risk.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Can FSX help loose or heavy upper eyelids?
FSX is a non-surgical option for loose upper-eyelid skin. Thulium energy is placed carefully on the thin lid skin, which firms as its collagen remodels over the following weeks, and it can make the two sides look more even and open. How much changes varies between people, and marked excess skin or a drooping lid needs a different assessment.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Can FSX treat active acne and the red marks it leaves?
Yes, both are among its five main effects, and active acne is something Dr Sin Yong uses FSX for a lot. For breakouts, the settings aim to calm inflammation and oil-gland activity, alongside medical acne care. For the red marks left afterwards (PIE), FSX targets the redness as part of a plan. How quickly breakouts and marks change varies between people.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Does FSX help with loose skin?
Yes, tightening loose skin is one of its five main effects. Heat contracts collagen during the session and new collagen continues to form over 4–8 weeks. It is used for early-to-moderate looseness on the face, jowls and neck (the neck mainly for tightening), with little downtime for most people; more advanced laxity may need a different treatment.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Will FSX help shallow acne scars?
Yes, and not only shallow ones: Dr Sin Yong does a lot of scar work with FSX, including deeper scars. Collagen builds up under the scar across a planned course, usually several sessions. Some scars, such as tethered rolling scars or narrow ice-pick scars, are combined with other techniques such as subcision or TCA CROSS, or planned within 4D Scar Reconstruction.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
How much does this treatment cost in Singapore?
Pricing depends on the area treated and the number of sessions your plan involves, which vary with your skin and concern. Because the course is tailored, IN Eternity Clinic sets out the full plan and cost at consultation rather than a fixed price.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Is this treatment painful?
Most patients describe a warm or light prickling sensation during treatment, managed with cooling and adjustable settings. Numbing can be applied where helpful. The sensation passes quickly, and what to expect is explained beforehand.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
How long do results from the FSX Laser last?
Results from the FSX Laser build in the weeks after each session as the skin renews, and are commonly maintained with periodic treatment. The interval depends on your skin and concern, and is planned individually.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Can I go back to work the same day?
Most people do. Redness usually settles within an hour or two, and make-up can normally be worn from the next day. Where stronger passes have been used, light scabs may be visible close up for three to seven days, so sessions with stronger settings are better planned away from important events.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Will people notice I've had laser?
For most people, not after the first few hours. The change in texture, pores and tone builds gradually across the course, so others tend to notice that your skin looks clearer or smoother rather than that you had a treatment. If light scabs form, they look like small brown dots that shed within a week.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Can I keep using my normal skincare after FSX?
Use a gentle cleanser, a plain moisturiser and sunscreen in the days after a session. Exfoliating acids, scrubs and retinoid creams are usually paused for about five to seven days, or until the skin no longer feels sensitive. Dr Sin Yong reviews your routine at assessment and tells you what to pause and when to restart.

FSX laser vs fractional CO2: which suits me?
Fractional CO2 removes microscopic columns of skin, so it reaches scars and marked texture but needs a longer healing period and carries a higher risk of darkening in Asian skin. FSX heats beneath an intact surface, with redness for hours and light scabs for some, and suits redness, pores, loose skin, pigmentation, active acne and scars over a course. Some plans use both at different stages.

Is FSX safe around the eyes?
The thin upper and lower eyelid skin can be treated, with gentler settings and protective eye shields worn throughout. Mild swelling around the eyes for a day or two is common, especially in the morning. FSX is a non-surgical option for loose upper-eyelid skin and crepey lower-lid skin; marked excess skin, a drooping lid or fat bags are different problems and are assessed separately.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
How soon will I see results after FSX?
The skin can feel smoother within a week as the surface renews, but most of the change in texture, pores and fine lines comes from collagen that builds over four to eight weeks after each session. Progress is judged across the course, on photographs taken in the same light, rather than after one visit. How much changes varies between people and between zones.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Who should not have FSX laser?
Treatment is usually postponed during pregnancy, over active infection, a cold sore or broken skin, on recently tanned or sunburnt skin, and in some people with a history of keloid scars. Recent oral acne medicine and photosensitising medicines are reviewed first. Melasma is not a reason to refuse FSX, but it changes the settings. Your history is checked before any session.

Does FSX help enlarged pores and oily skin?
Enlarged pores and oiliness are one of the five main things Dr Sin Yong uses FSX for. Heat directed around the follicle and oil gland aims to make pores look smaller and the skin less oily, with collagen around each pore firming across a course. How much changes depends on what is enlarging the pores; the options are compared on enlarged pores treatment.

Can FSX be used on the eyelids?
Yes. The eyelids are one of the three areas FSX is used on, with the face and neck. On the upper lid it is a non-surgical option for loose eyelid skin and can make the two sides look more even and open; the lower lid is treated at gentler settings for crepey skin. Protective eye shields are worn throughout, and marked excess skin or a drooping lid needs a different assessment.

FSX or S3 resurfacing — which has less downtime?
FSX. S3 resurfacing on the Tetra Pro has more downtime, with darker areas while the skin heals, while FSX leaves less visible scabbing, so recovery is easier to manage. Both are Dr Sin Yong’s own scar treatments, and the choice depends on your scars, your skin and how much recovery you can allow; it is made at assessment.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
What are the five main effects of FSX Laser?
Dr Sin Yong describes five things FSX targets: redness; enlarged pores and oiliness; loose skin, as a tightening treatment; pigmentation, including the dark marks acne leaves (PIH); and active acne, which he uses it for a lot. These are what it targets rather than promised results, and how much each changes varies between people.
Read more: FSX Laser Singapore
Can FSX be used on the neck?
Yes. The neck is one of the three areas FSX is used on, mainly for tightening loose skin and improving fine horizontal lines. Neck skin heals more slowly than facial skin, so settings are more conservative and sessions may be spaced further apart. Prominent muscle bands or heavy loose skin may need a different approach, discussed at assessment.

Haze and Skin in Singapore
Does haze affect your skin?
It can. Haze particles and the chemicals on them cause oxidative stress and inflammation and can weaken the skin barrier, so skin may feel dry, tight, itchy or stinging, and eczema can flare. Most effects settle when the air clears. Gentle cleansing, a moisturiser and sunscreen cover most needs.
Read more: Haze and Skin in Singapore
Should I wear sunscreen during the haze?
Yes. Haze can make the sky look dim, but it is not reliable protection from UV, and sunscreen also helps protect skin that is already inflamed from darkening. Keep using a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, reapplying if you are outdoors for long.
Read more: Haze and Skin in Singapore
Can I still have laser treatment during the haze?
Often, yes, if your skin is calm and you can protect it while it heals. Gentle treatments such as laser toning are usually fine. Resurfacing such as fractional CO2 or strong peels are better postponed if your skin is irritated or you must be outdoors when PM2.5 is high. The decision is made on the day.
Read more: Haze and Skin in Singapore
What PSI level is bad for skin?
There is no official skin threshold. As a practical guide, irritation is more likely when the 1-hour PM2.5 is High (151 and above) or the PSI is Unhealthy or worse, especially with long outdoor exposure. How your skin feels matters more than the number.
Read more: Haze and Skin in Singapore
Does haze cause acne?
Haze does not cause acne by itself, but particles mixed with sweat and sebum, mask friction and more face-touching can aggravate breakouts in acne-prone skin. Cleanse after time outdoors, avoid heavy products and continue your usual acne treatment.
Read more: Haze and Skin in Singapore
Is an antioxidant serum worth using during haze?
It may help, but the evidence for preventing haze effects specifically is limited. If you already tolerate a vitamin C or E serum, it is reasonable to continue it under sunscreen. If your skin is stinging, a plain moisturiser is the safer choice until it settles.
Read more: Haze and Skin in Singapore
Should I stop retinoids or acids during the haze?
Only if your skin is stinging, red or peeling. Pause high-strength acids, retinoids and scrubs for a few days, keep cleansing gently and moisturising, then reintroduce one product at a time once the skin is comfortable again.
Read more: Haze and Skin in Singapore
Does haze cause pigmentation?
Long-term particle pollution is associated with more pigment spots, and inflammation in darker skin can leave temporary marks. A short haze episode is unlikely to cause lasting pigmentation on its own, particularly with daily sunscreen and without scratching irritated skin.

How to Choose a Pico Laser Clinic in Singapore
Does a more expensive pico laser clinic mean better results?
Not necessarily — price reflects device, physician involvement, and clinic overhead, not a promise of outcome. See our pico laser pricing guide for what actually drives cost.

Should I choose a clinic based on Google reviews?
Reviews can be one data point, but they don't tell you whether a clinic's specific approach and device suit your skin type and concern. Direct questions at consultation are more reliable.

Is it better to have a doctor administer pico laser rather than a therapist?
This is a personal preference many patients weigh when choosing a clinic — ask directly who will be treating you and their qualifications.

How do I check if a pico laser clinic is licensed?
Ask for the name of the clinic licensee and look it up in MOH’s public licensing records, then search the treating doctor on the Singapore Medical Council register. A licensed clinic will give these details readily.

Should a pico laser clinic assess my skin before treatment?
Yes. Pigment type, depth and your skin type decide the settings, and some conditions, such as melasma, need a gentler plan. Treating without an assessment means guessing.

Is Pico Laser Worth It? Singapore Guide 2026
Is pico laser worth it for melasma?
Only as one part of a plan. Melasma is chronic and driven by hormones, light and heat, so laser alone often gives a short-lived result and can cause rebound if it is too strong. Gentle settings, light protection, topical care and review make the laser worth more.

Laser for Darker Skin & Skin of Colour Singapore
Can laser be used on dark skin?
Many lasers can be used in darker skin when the wavelength, energy, cooling and spacing are chosen for it. Longer wavelengths such as 1064 nm are absorbed less by surface melanin. The risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation is never zero, so test spots, skin preparation and careful aftercare are part of the plan.

What is Fitzpatrick skin type?
It is a six-point scale describing how skin reacts to sun, from type I, which always burns and never tans, to type VI, which rarely burns and is deeply pigmented. Types IV to VI are considered darker skin. Doctors use it, together with your history of pigment marks and scarring, to choose laser settings.

Which laser hair removal suits darker skin?
The 1064 nm long-pulsed Nd:YAG wavelength is generally preferred for darker skin because it passes through surface melanin to reach the hair follicle with less heating of the skin. At IN Eternity Clinic this is available on the Lutronic Clarity II. More sessions may be needed than in lighter skin, and test spots are used where the response is uncertain.

Why did I get dark marks after a previous laser?
Post-inflammatory pigmentation follows heat or injury that triggered your pigment cells. Common reasons are settings too strong for your skin type, treating tanned skin, short gaps between sessions, or rubbing and sun exposure afterwards. Most marks fade over months with sun protection and gentle care. Bring any records of your previous treatment to the consultation.

Do I need a test spot?
Not always. A test spot is used when your skin type, a history of dark marks or the planned settings make the response hard to predict, or for a treatment you have not had before. It is reviewed after two to four weeks. If your skin has tolerated the same treatment before, a test may not be needed.

How much does laser treatment for darker skin cost?
Cost depends on the concern, the treatment, the area and the number of sessions, which may be higher than for lighter skin because settings are gentler. Test spots and skin preparation are discussed as part of the plan. A written quote is given after assessment, with no obligation to proceed.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation Cost Singapore
How much does laser skin rejuvenation cost in Singapore?
It depends on the laser type, the concern, the area, the number of sessions, recovery care and your skin type. A toning course and a single CO2 resurfacing session are very different treatments. At IN Eternity Clinic, Dr Sin Yong assesses your skin and gives a written quote.
Read more: Laser Skin Rejuvenation Cost Singapore
Is a course of gentle laser cheaper than one strong treatment?
Not necessarily. Gentle lasers need more sessions; stronger ones need fewer but more recovery. The totals can be similar for very different experiences. Compare the full plan, including sessions and recovery, not just the per-session price. Your timetable for recovery matters too.
Read more: Laser Skin Rejuvenation Cost Singapore
Why does skin type affect the cost?
Darker skin is more prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation after laser, so settings are gentler and sessions may be spaced further apart. This can add a session but reduces the risk of marks that would need further treatment. This is the safer trade-off.
Read more: Laser Skin Rejuvenation Cost Singapore
Are aftercare products included in the price?
It varies between clinics, so ask. The written quote at IN Eternity Clinic states what aftercare is advised and whether any products are charged separately, so there are no surprises after treatment. Sun protection is essential after any laser, so it is usually part of the advice.
Read more: Laser Skin Rejuvenation Cost Singapore
Can laser rejuvenation be combined with other treatments?
Often, yes, with skin boosters, energy-based tightening or medical skincare. Timing matters, so combined plans are sequenced at assessment and each part is listed separately in the quote. The order and spacing between treatments are written into the plan so you can see the total cost and timing.

Why are some laser facials so cheap?
They may use a single quick pass, an unnamed device, or a low-cost first session to sell a course. Ask which laser, which concern it targets, how many sessions are expected and who performs it. A named laser and a clear plan make comparison possible.
Read more: Laser Skin Rejuvenation Cost Singapore
Does laser skin rejuvenation hurt?
Gentle toning lasers feel like light snapping and warmth and rarely need numbing. Fractional and CO2 lasers feel hotter and more prickly, so numbing cream is applied first and cooling is used during treatment. How a session feels depends on the laser and energy, which is part of what the quote describes.

How soon will I see results from laser rejuvenation?
Skin often looks brighter within a week or two after gentle lasers, with more change over a course. Texture and scar improvements from fractional or ablative lasers develop over three to six months as collagen remodels. Results are reviewed with standard photographs rather than judged straight after a session.

Can I wear make-up after laser skin rejuvenation?
After gentle toning, make-up can often be applied the same or next day. After fractional or CO2 resurfacing, it is usually advisable to wait until the surface has healed and any flaking has finished, often about a week. Always apply sunscreen first and use clean, gentle products.
Read more: Laser Skin Rejuvenation Cost Singapore
Is laser rejuvenation safe for darker skin?
Yes, when the laser and settings are chosen for the skin. In skin types III to V, the main risk is post-inflammatory darkening, so lower density and energy, longer spacing, skin preparation and strict sun protection are used. Some lasers carry less pigment risk than others, which shapes both the plan and its cost.

Is there a consultation fee for a laser assessment?
Yes. The assessment decides which laser suits your concern and skin type, and you receive an itemised written quote before anything is booked. At IN Eternity Clinic a consultation fee applies, and it is waived if you go ahead with any medical treatment; the fee is S$120.

Laser Toning Singapore
Is laser toning the same as skin whitening?
No. It aims for a more even tone by reducing excess pigment, not to lighten your natural skin colour.
Read more: Laser Toning Singapore
How many sessions are usual?
A course is typical because each session is gentle. The number depends on the cause of pigment and is set after assessment.

Is there downtime?
Usually mild redness for a few hours. Sun protection is essential between sessions.

Is laser toning safe for melasma?
It can be part of melasma care when used conservatively alongside medical treatment, but melasma is managed rather than cured. See the melasma page.

What device is used?
The DEKA TORO at 1064 nm in low-fluence mode. The same device has picosecond output for other pigment work.

Who should not have laser toning?
People with active skin infection, a recent tan, certain photosensitising medicines, or pregnancy, depending on the plan. Your history is reviewed first.

How much does laser toning cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on the cause of your uneven tone, the area treated, how many sessions the course needs, and whether it is combined with targeted pico treatment or topical care. Melasma care usually involves a longer series with maintenance. Dr Sin Yong identifies the pigment type first and explains the plan and its cost before treatment.

Can I wear make-up after laser toning?
Usually yes, later the same day or the next morning, once any redness has settled. Use clean brushes and a gentle remover in the evening, and avoid exfoliating products for a few days. Sunscreen should go on underneath make-up every day during the course.
Read more: Laser Toning Singapore
Will people notice I'm having laser toning?
Generally not. Any redness settles within a few hours, so most people go back to work the same day. Because each session does a little, tone evens out gradually across the course, and people tend to remark that your skin looks brighter or clearer rather than noticing a treatment.
Read more: Laser Toning Singapore
Does laser toning hurt?
Laser toning is one of the gentler laser treatments. Most people feel light, rapid snapping or a warm prickling, sometimes like fine sand tapping on the skin, with a clicking sound from each pulse. The forehead, jawline and upper lip can feel a little sharper. Numbing cream is not usually needed, protective eyewear is worn, and the skin may look pink for a few hours.
Read more: Laser Toning Singapore
How soon will I see results from laser toning?
Any brightness after a single session is subtle, because each session is deliberately gentle. Tone usually looks gradually more even as the course continues, and progress is reviewed on photographs in the same light every few sessions. How quickly pigment responds depends on its type and depth, and pigment can return with sun or hormones, so sun protection is part of the result.

Laser toning vs pico toning: what is the difference?
Both pass low energy over the face to even out tone. Laser toning uses nanosecond Q-switched pulses at 1064 nm; pico toning uses picosecond pulses, which break pigment more by pressure and less by heat. Both are available on the DEKA TORO, and the choice depends on the pigment and your skin. Our pico toning vs laser toning guide compares them in detail.
Read more: Laser Toning Singapore
How often can I do laser toning?
Sessions are usually spaced one to a few weeks apart within a course, then reduced to maintenance. More is not better: frequent, high-energy toning has been linked to blotchy pale spots in Asian skin (Chan and colleagues, 2010), so energy is kept low and progress is reviewed before more sessions are added. Report any pale spots or new darkening straight away.
Read more: Laser Toning Singapore
Is laser toning safe for darker skin?
It is commonly used in skin types III to V, because the 1064 nm wavelength passes the surface pigment and the energy is low. Darker skin still reacts to excess heat by making more pigment, so settings stay conservative, sessions are spaced and a recent tan is a reason to wait. Daily sunscreen between sessions is part of the treatment.

Laser Toning vs Chemical Peel for Dull Skin
Is laser toning or a chemical peel better for dull skin?
It depends on why the skin looks dull. If uneven brown pigment is the main cause, laser toning is usually more suitable. If the surface is rough and congested, a superficial peel often helps more. Many people have both, and a planned sequence can address each. The cause is identified at assessment.
Read more: Laser Toning vs Chemical Peel for Dull Skin
Can I do laser toning and a chemical peel together?
They can be combined in a plan, usually alternated with a gap of one to a few weeks rather than done on the same day. Doing both at once increases irritation and the risk of darkening. Dr Sin Yong sets the sequence according to your skin type and response.
Read more: Laser Toning vs Chemical Peel for Dull Skin
Will a chemical peel make my skin peel visibly?
Superficial peels often cause only light flaking for a few days, sometimes none. Deeper peels cause more visible peeling and carry more pigment risk in Asian skin, so they are used selectively. You will be told what to expect for the specific peel chosen.
Read more: Laser Toning vs Chemical Peel for Dull Skin
How many sessions will I need?
Laser toning is usually given as a course of several sessions spaced one to a few weeks apart. Superficial peels are often done as a series spaced a few weeks apart. The number depends on the cause and your response, and is reviewed as you go.
Read more: Laser Toning vs Chemical Peel for Dull Skin
How much does laser toning or a chemical peel cost?
Cost depends on the treatment chosen, the number of sessions, the area treated and whether other treatments are combined. A written estimate is given after assessment so you can see the whole plan, including any maintenance sessions and skincare, before deciding. You are not asked to commit to a long course before your skin’s response has been seen.

Can I go out in the sun after treatment?
Avoid deliberate sun exposure, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and reapply when outdoors. Fresh post-treatment skin is more sensitive, and Singapore’s strong sun is a common reason pigment returns or darkens after either treatment. A hat and shade add useful protection on top of sunscreen.

Laser Treatment Singapore
What is the most common laser treatment in Singapore?
Pigment lasers (pico and laser toning), fractional resurfacing for scars and texture, and laser hair removal are among the most frequently requested. Which one suits you depends on what is causing the concern, which is established at assessment.
Read more: Laser Treatment Singapore
Which laser is right for my skin?
It depends on the target. Pigment responds to picosecond or Q-switched pulses, scars to fractional CO2 or FSX, redness to the 675 nm laser and hair to the Lutronic Clarity II. Dr Sin Yong identifies the cause and your skin type before choosing.
Read more: Laser Treatment Singapore
Is laser treatment painful?
Most lasers feel like quick snaps or warmth. Numbing cream is used for resurfacing and some pigment treatments, and cooling is built into several devices. Comfort varies between people and areas.
Read more: Laser Treatment Singapore
What is the downtime after laser treatment?
It ranges from a few hours of redness after toning to about a week of redness and fine crusting after fractional CO2. Pico spot treatment can leave small darkened spots that flake within a week or so.
Read more: Laser Treatment Singapore
How many laser sessions will I need?
It varies with the laser and the concern. A few defined spots may clear in one to a few sessions; melasma, scars, tattoos and hair removal need a course. The number is estimated at assessment and reviewed as you go.
Read more: Laser Treatment Singapore
Can laser treatment cause pigmentation in Asian skin?
It can. Temporary darkening after heat or injury is the main risk in skin types III to V. Conservative settings, spacing sessions, treating calm skin and strict sun protection reduce it, and it usually fades with care.
Read more: Laser Treatment Singapore
How long do laser results last?
Laser results are not permanent in the sense that skin keeps ageing and pigment can return with sun and hormones. Scar remodelling and hair reduction can be long-lasting; pigment and tone are usually maintained.

How do I choose a laser clinic in Singapore?
Look for a licensed medical clinic where a doctor examines you before treatment, names the laser and explains why it suits your skin type, and tells you plainly when laser is not the right answer. IN Eternity Clinic holds MOH licence MDS/001/252.

Can I wear make-up after laser treatment?
It depends on the laser. After laser toning or laser hair removal, usually later the same day or the next morning. After pico spot treatment, usually from the next day, patted on gently over dry spots. After fractional CO2, wait until the crusts have come away, usually about five to seven days. Sunscreen goes on underneath make-up every day after any laser.
Read more: Laser Treatment Singapore
How soon will I see results after laser treatment?
Pigment spots usually lighten as they flake over one to two weeks, with the result judged at review weeks later. Toning, scar remodelling and hair reduction build across a course, so change is gradual over weeks to months. Collagen-based results, such as smoother scars and texture, continue to develop for months after each session. Results vary between people and lasers.

Is laser treatment safe during pregnancy?
Elective cosmetic laser is usually postponed during pregnancy. There is little evidence of harm from most skin lasers, but there is also little evidence of safety, and pregnancy changes pigment, hair growth and healing in ways that make results less predictable. Melasma and other pigment that appears in pregnancy is often better treated afterwards. Sun protection continues meanwhile.
Read more: Laser Treatment Singapore
Can I go in the sun after laser treatment?
Sun on freshly treated skin is the most common cause of darkening after laser, so it is avoided for at least the first weeks. In Singapore that means daily broad-spectrum sunscreen, reapplied outdoors, a hat and shade, and planning beach holidays after the skin has settled. Tanning before a session is also a reason to postpone it.

Lip Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
What causes dark lips?
Common causes are smoking, sun exposure, licking or biting the lips, reactions to lip products or toothpaste, some medicines, and natural or inherited lip colour. Occasionally a medical condition is involved. Identifying the cause matters, because pigment tends to come back if the trigger continues.
Read more: Lip Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
Is laser lip lightening safe?
When the pigment is benign and settings suit the lip and skin type, laser is generally well tolerated. Swelling, crusting and temporary darkening can occur, and cold sores can be triggered in people prone to them. A new or changing spot is examined first, because it should not be lasered before a diagnosis.
Read more: Lip Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
How many sessions are needed for lip pigmentation?
Many people need one to three sessions, spaced about four to six weeks apart, but deeper or widespread pigment can need more. Pigment from smoking may need more sessions and tends to return if smoking continues. Progress is reviewed at each visit and the settings adjusted to how your lips respond.
Read more: Lip Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
Will the dark colour come back after laser?
It can, particularly if the cause continues, such as smoking, sun exposure, lip licking or an irritating lip product. Daily SPF lip balm, switching to gentle products and addressing habits help the result last. Some people need an occasional maintenance session, which is planned at review rather than in advance.
Read more: Lip Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
How much does lip pigmentation treatment cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on the extent and depth of the pigment, the laser chosen and the number of sessions. If a spot needs checking or referral first, that is done before any cosmetic treatment. Dr Sin Yong explains the plan and its cost after examining your lips.

Can a cosmetic lip tattoo be removed with laser?
Often, but carefully. Some cosmetic lip inks contain iron oxide or titanium dioxide, which can turn darker when lasered. A small test area is usually treated first and checked after several weeks before the rest is treated. Ink colour, depth and how long ago the tattoo was done all affect the number of sessions.

Can I have lip blush after lip pigmentation treatment?
Yes. Lip blush is offered at IN Eternity Clinic once dark pigment has been lightened with laser and the lips have settled, usually a few weeks after the last session. Colour then goes onto a more even base, usually with less pigment. Any history of cold sores is discussed with the doctor first.
Read more: Lip Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
How soon will I see lighter lips after laser?
Treated pigment usually looks darker or greyish for the first few days, then flakes away over about a week. Lightening continues gradually over the following weeks as the body clears the fragments. Many people see a clear change by the four-to-six-week review; deeper pigment changes more slowly.
Read more: Lip Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
Can I wear lipstick after lip pigmentation laser?
It is better to wait until the crusts and flaking have settled, usually about a week, because lipstick and liner can irritate healing skin and wiping them off can lift crusts early. Until then, use a plain balm and an SPF lip balm. Leave long-wear and matte formulas, which dry the lips, until the lips feel normal again.
Read more: Lip Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
Is lip laser safe for darker skin?
It can be, with care. Skin types IV and V, common in Singapore, pigment more easily after heat or irritation, so longer wavelengths such as 785 nm picosecond or 1064 nm are favoured, energy is kept conservative and a small test area may be treated first. Sun protection on the lips between sessions matters as much as the laser itself.

Do smoker’s lips get lighter after quitting?
Smoker’s melanosis can fade slowly after stopping smoking, often over months or longer, but it does not always clear. Laser can lighten the pigment sooner, though it tends to return if smoking continues, so if you plan to stop, it is reasonable to stop first and assess what remains.

Pico or Q-switched laser for dark lips: which is better?
Neither is better for every lip. Q-switched 532 nm suits superficial brown pigment well, while picosecond 785 nm and 1064 nm reach deeper and leave less heat behind, which helps in darker skin. The wavelength is chosen after examination; the differences are explained in pico vs Q-switched vs laser toning.

Luminescence Laser Lift
What is the Luminescence Laser Lift?
The Luminescence Laser Lift is Dr Sin Yong's proprietary non-ablative erbium glass laser protocol that works on scars and skin quality without ablation, with little downtime for most people and minimal discomfort. It also incorporates a lifting component from the Time Freeze LCLR® protocol — delivering scar treatment and skin lifting in the same session.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
How is it different from CO2 laser?
CO2 laser achieves improvement through controlled ablation — creating small channels of injury that trigger a healing and collagen response. This usually means 7–14 days of visible healing and a higher PIH risk in Asian skin. The Luminescence Laser stimulates collagen through a non-ablative approach instead, with less recovery; change is more gradual, and deep scars may still need ablative treatment.

Is there any downtime at all?
Mild redness for 2–4 hours is typical. No scabbing or open wounds. Patients return to all activities immediately including makeup from the same day.

What skin concerns does it treat?
Acne scars (rolling, boxcar, superficial icepick), post-surgical scars, enlarged pores, skin texture irregularity, skin laxity, and overall skin quality decline. The lifting component also addresses mild to moderate facial laxity simultaneously.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
How many sessions are needed?
3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for meaningful scar and skin improvement. Collagen change accumulates across the course, and each session builds on the last.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
Is it safe for Asian skin?
It was designed with Fitzpatrick III–VI skin in mind. Because the surface is not ablated, the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation is lower than with ablative CO2 laser, though not zero; settings, sun protection and aftercare still matter.

How much does the Luminescence Laser Lift cost in Singapore?
Pricing depends on the area treated and the number of sessions your plan involves, which vary with your skin and concern. Because the course is tailored, IN Eternity Clinic sets out the full plan and cost at consultation rather than a fixed price.

Is the Luminescence Laser Lift painful?
Most patients describe a warm or light prickling sensation during treatment, managed with cooling and adjustable settings. Numbing can be applied where helpful. The sensation passes quickly, and what to expect is explained beforehand.

How long do results from the Luminescence Laser Lift last?
Results from the Luminescence Laser Lift build in the weeks after each session as the skin renews, and are commonly maintained with periodic treatment. The interval depends on your skin and concern, and is planned individually.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
Can the Luminescence Laser Lift treat deep ice-pick scars?
Not well on its own. Deep, narrow ice-pick scars extend too far down for a non-ablative stimulus to lift, and usually need focused techniques such as TCA CROSS or ablative laser. See acne scar treatment in Singapore for how scar types are matched to methods.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
Is the Luminescence Laser Lift a melasma treatment?
No. It is directed at scars, pores and texture. Melasma is managed with sun and heat control, topical care and carefully chosen low-energy laser, and any heat-based protocol near melasma is planned cautiously after assessment.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
How is it different from Time Freeze Laser LCLR®?
Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is the full lifting and contouring protocol. The Luminescence Laser Lift is a skin-quality and scar protocol that borrows a lifting step from it, so the emphasis is on texture, with some firming in the same visit. See Time Freeze Laser LCLR®.

Can I go back to work the same day after the Luminescence Laser Lift?
Yes. Most people have mild redness for a few hours and can apply make-up later the same day. There are no scabs or open wounds. Strong actives such as retinoids and exfoliating acids are paused for a few days, as advised at your visit, and daily sunscreen is important throughout the course.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
Will people notice I had laser treatment?
Usually not, apart from a few hours of redness. Changes in scars, pores and texture build gradually across the course, so people tend to notice that your skin looks smoother over time rather than that you have had a laser. Many patients book sessions around their normal working week.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
How soon will I see results from the Luminescence Laser Lift?
The surface looks normal within a day, but scar and texture change builds beneath it over four to eight weeks after each session, so it is judged across a course rather than after one visit. Some firmness from the lifting step may be felt earlier. Progress is compared with baseline photographs every few sessions, and the degree of change varies between people.

Luminescence Laser Lift vs RF microneedling for acne scars?
Both stimulate collagen without removing the surface. RF microneedling delivers heat through fine needles into the dermis and is often chosen for rolling scars and pores, with a day or two of redness and pinpoint marks. The Luminescence Laser Lift uses non-ablative laser energy without needles and adds a lifting step. See RF microneedling in Singapore and CO2 vs RF microneedling vs pico for acne scars.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
Can the Luminescence Laser Lift be combined with subcision or TCA CROSS?
Often, yes, in sequence. Subcision releases tethered rolling scars and TCA CROSS narrows deep ice-pick scars; the Luminescence Laser Lift then works on the surrounding texture. The steps are usually spaced weeks apart so each area can heal before the next, and the order is set at assessment according to which scars dominate.
Read more: Luminescence Laser Lift
Who is not suitable for the Luminescence Laser Lift?
Treatment is usually postponed if there is active acne or infection in the area, a fresh tan or a pregnancy, and after a recent course of oral acne medicine. Very deep or extensive scarring may be better served by ablative resurfacing. A history of keloids, cold sores or darkening after earlier treatments is discussed first.

Melasma
What is melasma?
An acquired, symmetrical hypermelanosis driven by ultraviolet and visible light, hormonal influence and dermal inflammation. Clearance is achievable; holding it is the difficulty.
Read more: Melasma
How is melasma told apart from similar conditions?
A sunspot is a discrete bounded lesion. Post-inflammatory pigmentation follows an identifiable injury. Melasma is symmetrical, patterned and persistent — and the three are not treated alike.

What is assessed before treating melasma?
Fitzpatrick type, epidermal versus dermal versus mixed depth, a vascular component, hormonal and medication history, and what photoprotection is realistically in place.
Read more: Melasma
When is treatment deferred?
Pregnancy, the postpartum period, recently changed hormonal medication and unmodified sun exposure are reasons to wait or begin with non-procedural components only.
Read more: Melasma
Can melasma go away on its own?
Sometimes it fades, especially melasma that began in pregnancy and lightens over the following year, or when a hormonal trigger is removed. More often it persists or comes and goes with sun exposure. Even after successful treatment, melasma can return, which is why sun protection and a maintenance routine continue long term. An assessment helps decide whether treatment is worthwhile now or whether to wait.
Read more: Melasma
Is tranexamic acid safe for melasma?
Oral tranexamic acid is a prescription medicine that reduces pigment signalling in melasma skin. It is generally well tolerated at the low doses used, but it affects clotting, so it is not given to people with a history of thrombosis, certain heart or kidney conditions, during pregnancy, or alongside some hormonal medicines without careful review. Dr Sin Yong screens for these risks before prescribing and reviews you during the course.
Read more: Melasma
Does laser make melasma worse?
It can, if the settings are too strong or sessions too close together. Heat inflames melasma skin, which can cause rebound darkening or white mottled patches. That is why laser for melasma at IN Eternity Clinic is low-fluence, spaced out and always combined with sun protection and topical or oral treatment, rather than used alone to chase quick clearance.
Read more: Melasma
How much does melasma treatment cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on the type and depth of melasma, which layers of the plan are needed (topicals, oral medicine, laser), how many laser sessions are planned and how long maintenance runs. Because melasma is managed over months, a single session price says little. Dr Sin Yong sets out the plan and its cost after assessment, before anything is booked.
Read more: Melasma
Is melasma dangerous?
No. Melasma is a pigment condition, not a cancer, and it does not spread to other people. Its effect is on appearance and confidence. A patch that is raised, very dark, changing quickly or only on one side should still be examined, because other conditions can look similar and need a different approach.
Read more: Melasma
What is the difference between melasma and chloasma?
They are the same condition. Chloasma is an older term often used when melasma appears during pregnancy, sometimes called the mask of pregnancy. Pregnancy-related melasma may fade partly after delivery, but it often does not clear completely, and treatment such as laser or oral medicine waits until after pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Read more: Melasma
Is melasma caused by poor skincare?
No. Melasma is driven by light, hormones, heat and genetic tendency rather than by hygiene or the products you use. Some products can make it worse, though: harsh scrubs, irritating actives and fragranced products inflame the skin and can deepen pigment. Gentle care and daily broad-spectrum sun protection are the foundation of control.
Read more: Melasma
How long before melasma treatment shows a change?
Usually weeks to months rather than days. Sun protection and topical treatment work slowly, and low-energy laser is spaced over a course, so progress is reviewed against photographs taken at the start.

Melasma Laser vs Tranexamic Acid vs Skincare
Is laser or tranexamic acid better for melasma?
They work differently. Laser toning fragments existing pigment; oral tranexamic acid, a prescription medicine, reduces the signals that drive pigment production. Many people do well with a combination, built on daily light protection and topical care. Suitability for tranexamic acid depends on screening for clotting risk.
Read more: Melasma Laser vs Tranexamic Acid vs Skincare
Is oral tranexamic acid safe?
At low doses it is generally well tolerated in suitable patients, but because it acts on the clotting system it is not appropriate for people with a history of blood clots, stroke, certain heart conditions, or pregnancy. A doctor screens you before prescribing and reviews you during the course.
Read more: Melasma Laser vs Tranexamic Acid vs Skincare
Can laser make melasma worse?
Yes, if settings are too aggressive or sessions too frequent, laser can cause rebound darkening or pale, mottled spots. That is why toning for melasma uses low energy, spaced sessions and careful review, alongside skincare and light protection. If darkening appears, the plan is paused or adjusted rather than pushed harder.
Read more: Melasma Laser vs Tranexamic Acid vs Skincare
Which skincare ingredients help melasma?
Useful ingredients include azelaic acid, niacinamide, tranexamic acid serums and cysteamine, along with prescription regimens such as hydroquinone with a retinoid, used for limited periods under supervision. A tinted broad-spectrum sunscreen containing iron oxides is the most important product of all.
Read more: Melasma Laser vs Tranexamic Acid vs Skincare
Can melasma be treated during pregnancy?
During pregnancy, treatment is limited to light protection and gentle, pregnancy-appropriate topical care. Oral tranexamic acid, hydroquinone, retinoids and lasers are usually deferred. Melasma that appears in pregnancy sometimes fades afterwards, and a plan can be made after delivery and breastfeeding.
Read more: Melasma Laser vs Tranexamic Acid vs Skincare
How much does melasma treatment cost?
It depends on the combination needed: prescription topicals, oral medicine, the number of laser sessions and the length of maintenance. A written estimate is given after assessment so you can see what the first phase and maintenance involve, and the plan is reviewed as your skin responds rather than fixed for a long course.
Read more: Melasma Laser vs Tranexamic Acid vs Skincare
Will my melasma come back?
It commonly does if triggers return, especially sun, heat and hormonal change. Ongoing light protection, a maintenance routine and occasional sessions keep it under better control. Reviews help adjust the plan before relapse becomes established, and many people find a short seasonal top-up easier than restarting treatment from scratch.

Why does my melasma get worse in summer or after exercise?
Both UV and heat stimulate pigment cells in melasma-prone skin. Visible light from the sun also contributes, which is why tinted sunscreen helps.

Can I treat melasma during pregnancy?
Many treatments are avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Gentle skincare and sun protection are usually the focus until afterwards.

How long before I see improvement?
Change is gradual over months and varies between people. Progress is reviewed with standard photographs.

Is oral tranexamic acid more effective than laser for melasma?
They do different jobs. In studies, oral tranexamic acid lightened moderate to severe melasma over a few months, while laser removes some existing pigment but can provoke rebound if used aggressively. Most people do well with protection and creams as the base, tranexamic acid where suitable, and gentle laser as support.

How long would I take tranexamic acid for melasma?
Courses in published studies commonly run for around three months or longer, with review along the way. The length is set by your doctor according to response, side effects and medical history. Melasma often returns after stopping, so sun protection and topical maintenance continue afterwards, and a further course may be discussed if it does.

Can skincare alone control melasma?
For mild melasma, daily tinted sunscreen and a well-chosen topical regimen may be enough, given a few months to work. Deeper or widespread patches usually need more. Irritating products can make melasma worse, so the regimen is kept simple, introduced gradually and adjusted at review.

Is topical tranexamic acid the same as the tablets?
No. Tranexamic acid serums and creams act on the skin surface and are generally milder; the tablets are a prescription medicine that works throughout the body and needs a medical review of clotting risk. The two are sometimes used together.

How do I know if my melasma is epidermal or dermal?
It is estimated at the consultation by colour, edges and how the patches look under magnification and, where helpful, a Wood’s lamp. Brown, sharply edged patches tend to be epidermal; blue-grey, soft-edged ones tend to be deeper. Most people have a mixed pattern.

Can pico laser treat melasma?
Picosecond toning at low energy can help as one part of a plan, because it fragments pigment with little heat. It does not cure melasma, and aggressive settings can make it darker. It is added after the skin is calm and protected.
Read more: Melasma Treatment Singapore
How many laser toning sessions are needed for melasma?
It varies. Toning is given as a spaced series and reviewed as it goes; it is paused or stopped if the skin flushes, darkens or stops responding. A fixed large package is not used, because too many sessions can cause pale spots.
Read more: Melasma Treatment Singapore
Why did my melasma get darker after laser?
Usually because the energy, the number of sessions or the heat was more than melasma-prone skin tolerates, or because protection lapsed afterwards. Rebound pigment generally settles with a pause, strict protection and medical care before any further laser.

Does melasma go away after pregnancy?
It can lighten in the months after pregnancy, but it often persists, and sun and heat keep it active. Most treatment other than sun protection and gentle skincare is deferred during pregnancy and breastfeeding and planned afterwards.

How can I stop melasma from coming back?
Daily tinted sunscreen with iron oxides, reapplication outdoors, avoiding prolonged heat and keeping a gentle topical routine are the core. Even so, melasma can return with summer sun or hormonal change, so a review is worth booking when patches start to reappear.
Read more: Melasma Treatment Singapore
Why does melasma come back after laser?
Because laser removes pigment that has already been made, not the tendency of the pigment cell to make more. Reviews of low-fluence Q-switched Nd:YAG used on its own report recurrence after stopping as high as 81%, which is why laser is one part of a maintained plan rather than a course with an end date.

Is melasma the same as sun spots or post-inflammatory pigmentation?
No. Sun spots are discrete, bounded marks. Post-inflammatory pigmentation follows an identifiable injury and fades as it heals. Melasma is symmetrical, patterned, influenced by hormones and light, and characteristically persistent, and the three are not treated the same way.

Why is a low-energy laser setting used for melasma?
Melasma skin shows photoageing and inflammation in the dermis, including changes in the basement membrane. Too much heat can provoke inflammation and darken it, which is why laser toning uses low energy over several sessions rather than high energy in a few.

What is mottled hypopigmentation after laser toning?
Small pale spots that can develop after repeated low-energy laser toning, reported more often in Fitzpatrick IV and V skin. Published guidance suggests larger spot sizes and longer intervals between sessions to reduce the risk.
Read more: Melasma Treatment Singapore
Is melasma treatment safe for darker skin?
It can be, but darker skin needs more caution. Skin types IV and V, common in Singapore, are more prone to rebound darkening and to pale spots after repeated laser toning. Plans for darker skin lean more on sun protection and topical care, keep laser energy low, space sessions further apart and pause at the first sign of a reaction.

Can I wear make-up after laser toning for melasma?
Usually yes, later the same day or the next morning once the pinkness has settled. A tinted mineral sunscreen or a foundation containing iron oxides is a sensible choice, because it also helps block visible light. Remove make-up gently, without scrubbing, since friction and irritation can feed melasma.

Does the contraceptive pill cause melasma?
It can contribute. Oestrogen and progesterone appear to make pigment cells more responsive to light and heat, so melasma often starts or worsens with pregnancy or the pill, although not everyone on the pill develops it. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own; it is discussed with the doctor who prescribed it, and the rest of the plan is adjusted around it.

Melasma vs Hori’s naevus: how can I tell them apart?
Both appear on the cheeks, but Hori’s naevus usually shows as blue-grey or brown-grey speckles on the cheekbones and sits deeper, while melasma forms broader brown patches that darken with sun and heat. They often occur together in Asian skin. The distinction matters because Hori’s naevus needs stronger pigment laser that would aggravate melasma; see age spots vs freckles vs melasma.

Does laser toning for melasma hurt?
Most people feel light, rapid tapping or a mild warm prickle, and numbing is rarely needed. The face may feel warm, like mild sunburn, for an hour or two afterwards. If any area feels hot or uncomfortable during the session the energy is adjusted, because heat is exactly what melasma-prone skin should be spared.
Read more: Melasma Treatment Singapore
What should I avoid during melasma laser treatment?
Avoid sun exposure without protection, tanning, saunas, hot yoga and prolonged heat close to the face, such as cooking over high heat. Pause irritating skincare, scrubs and strong acids around sessions unless advised otherwise. Tell the clinic about any new medicines or hormonal changes, as these can affect both the melasma and the treatment plan.

Is IPL suitable for melasma?
IPL is generally avoided for melasma. Its broad band of light heats the pigment and the surrounding skin together, and in melasma-prone skin that heat can trigger rebound darkening, more so in skin types III to V. Where laser is used for melasma, low-energy toning alongside sun protection and medical care is the usual approach, decided after examination.

Can men get melasma?
Yes. Melasma is more common in women, but men get it too, often on the cheeks, nose and forehead, with sun and heat as strong triggers. The treatment principles are the same: daily protection, creams, medicine where suitable and gentle laser. Men are less often affected by hormonal triggers, so sun, heat and family history are looked at closely.

Does melasma fade after menopause?
It sometimes softens as hormone levels fall, but many people still have melasma after menopause, because sun, visible light and heat keep driving it. Starting hormone therapy can make it worse in some women. Fading cannot be relied on, so protection and a maintenance plan continue whatever your age.

Pico Laser Downtime
How long is the downtime after pico laser?
It depends on the treatment. Toning usually means a few hours of redness. Spot treatment of sun spots means darkened spots and fine crusts that lift in five to ten days, with pinkness that fades over a few weeks. Fractional pico settles in three to five days, and tattoo removal can take one to two weeks or longer to heal.
Read more: Pico Laser Downtime
Can I go to work the day after pico laser?
Most people can. After toning or fractional pico you will usually look close to normal by the next day. After spot treatment the treated spots look darker and slightly crusted for about a week, which some people cover with tinted sunscreen. Tattoo areas should be kept clean and covered at work for the first few days.
Read more: Pico Laser Downtime
Why did my spots get darker after pico laser?
This is expected after spot treatment. The laser breaks the pigment into fragments, which rise to the surface with the healing skin and form fine dark crusts. These usually lift between days five and ten. Darkening that appears or deepens after two weeks is different and may be post-inflammatory pigmentation, which should be reviewed.
Read more: Pico Laser Downtime
When can I wear make-up after pico laser?
After toning, make-up is usually fine the next day. After spot treatment, avoid rubbing make-up over crusted spots; a mineral or tinted sunscreen applied gently is often enough until the crusts lift. Use clean applicators, remove make-up gently, and avoid exfoliating cleansers until the skin has settled. Ask if you are unsure about a product.
Read more: Pico Laser Downtime
When can I exercise after pico laser?
Light exercise is usually fine the next day. Avoid hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms and long outdoor sessions in the sun for two to three days, because heat and sweat prolong redness and can stimulate pigment cells. After tattoo removal, avoid swimming until the skin surface has fully closed, which usually takes about a week or more.

What if I get post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation?
It shows as a brown shadow over the treated area, usually two to six weeks after treatment, and is more common in darker or recently tanned skin. Most cases fade over weeks to months with strict sun protection and topical care. Contact the clinic early so that it can be assessed and treated rather than left to settle on its own.
Read more: Pico Laser Downtime
How much does pico laser cost, and does downtime affect it?
Cost depends on what is treated, the area, the protocol and the number of sessions, rather than on downtime itself. A few sun spots are a short plan; melasma or a tattoo needs a longer one. Dr Sin Yong gives a written quote after assessment, and the consultation fee is waived with any medical treatment.

Is PicoSure laser downtime different from other pico lasers?
Downtime follows what is treated and the settings used more than the brand. Toning on any picosecond platform usually means a few hours of redness; spot treatment means darkened spots and fine crusts for about a week. IN Eternity Clinic uses the Fotona StarWalker PQX and DEKA TORO rather than PicoSure.

How long does it take for skin to heal after pico laser?
Toning settles within a day or two. Treated sun spots shed their crusts in five to ten days, with pinkness that can last up to four weeks. Fractional pico settles in about three to five days. Tattoo sites can take two weeks or longer.
Read more: Pico Laser Downtime
Will my skin peel after pico laser?
Not in the way it does after a peel. After spot treatment, the darkened spots form fine crusts that flake off on their own; after toning or fractional pico, the skin may feel a little dry or rough for a few days. Leave crusts alone and moisturise.

Can I wash my face after pico laser?
Yes. Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser from the same evening, pat dry and apply a bland moisturiser and sunscreen. Avoid scrubs, exfoliating acids and retinoids until the skin has settled.

How long does redness last after pico laser?
After toning, redness usually lasts a few hours. After fractional pico it fades over one to two days. Around treated sun spots a small rim of redness is common on the day, and the new skin under a lifted crust can stay pink for up to about four weeks.
Read more: Pico Laser Downtime
Is there any downtime after pico toning?
Very little. The face is usually pink and warm for a few hours and may feel slightly dry the next day. There is no crusting because the surface is not broken, so make-up and work the next day are usually fine.
Read more: Pico Laser Downtime
When will I see results after pico laser?
For sun spots and freckles, once the crusts have lifted in one to two weeks, with the result reviewed at six to eight weeks. Toning and fractional pico work gradually over a course of sessions, so change is judged against photographs rather than the morning after.

How long is PicoSure laser downtime?
PicoSure is one brand of picosecond laser; IN Eternity Clinic uses the Fotona StarWalker PQX and DEKA TORO. Downtime depends more on the settings and what is treated than on the brand: toning usually leaves a few hours of redness, while spot treatment of pigment forms small crusts that lift over about five to ten days, varying between people.

Pico Laser for Acne Scars
Does pico laser work for acne scars?
Fractional picosecond laser can soften shallow boxcar scars, mild rolling texture and enlarged pores, and it treats post-acne pigmentation at the same time. Studies show modest improvement over a course of sessions. It has little effect on deep icepick scars or rolling scars held down by fibrous bands, which need subcision, focal TCA CROSS or fractional CO2 resurfacing.
Read more: Pico Laser for Acne Scars
What is fractional pico laser?
It is a picosecond laser fitted with a diffractive or microlens array that splits the beam into many tiny, high-energy points. Each point creates a microscopic zone of injury inside the skin, called laser-induced optical breakdown, which prompts collagen repair. Because the surface stays largely intact, recovery is short, usually a day or two of redness.
Read more: Pico Laser for Acne Scars
How many sessions of pico laser are needed for acne scars?
Studies have used four to six sessions, spaced roughly three to eight weeks apart, and change continues to build for months afterwards. The number depends on the depth and type of scars and on what else is in your plan. Deeper scars need other techniques, so the pico sessions are planned alongside them rather than on their own.
Read more: Pico Laser for Acne Scars
Is pico laser better than CO2 laser for acne scars?
They do different jobs. Fractional CO2 gives stronger remodelling per session for boxcar scars and sharp edges, with about a week of recovery and a higher pigment risk. Fractional pico is gentler and shallower, with short recovery, and suits mild scarring and texture. Many plans use both at different stages, chosen by scar type.
Read more: Pico Laser for Acne Scars
Is fractional pico safe for darker skin?
It is often chosen for skin that pigments easily, because the surface is largely spared and less heat is involved than with ablative resurfacing. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can still occur, so settings are adjusted for your skin type, sun protection is strict, and a test area may be treated first if you have reacted to procedures before.
Read more: Pico Laser for Acne Scars
Can I have pico laser while I still have acne?
Active acne is usually brought under control before scar treatment, because new inflammation creates new scars and can flare after procedures. Gentle pigment treatment for post-acne marks may be considered once breakouts have settled. If you are taking isotretinoin, a prescription medicine, the timing of any laser procedure is discussed with you first.
Read more: Pico Laser for Acne Scars
How much does pico laser for acne scars cost?
Cost depends on the area, the number of sessions and what else your scars need, such as subcision, focal TCA or fractional CO2. A plan for mild texture is very different from one for deep, mixed scarring. Dr Sin Yong gives a written quote after mapping your scars, and the consultation fee is waived with any medical treatment.
Read more: Pico Laser for Acne Scars
Can pico laser remove acne scars completely?
No. It softens shallow scars and texture gradually over a course; it does not erase scars. Deep or tethered scars need other techniques, and most plans aim for a visible improvement rather than clear skin.

How long before I see results from pico laser for acne scars?
Collagen remodelling builds over three to six months after a course, so change is gradual. Progress is judged against standard photographs taken before the first session rather than in the mirror after each one.

Does pico laser help red acne marks?
Brown marks left by acne often respond to the pigment settings on the same platform. Red marks come from small blood vessels rather than pigment, so they are usually approached differently and also fade with time.

Is pico laser good for icepick scars?
Not on its own. Icepick scars are narrow, deep pits that taper into the dermis, below where fractional pico has most effect. They are usually treated individually with focal TCA CROSS or punch techniques, and pico may then help the surrounding texture.
Read more: Pico Laser for Acne Scars
Can pico laser help rolling acne scars?
Only once the tethering is dealt with. Rolling scars are held down by fibrous bands, which are released with subcision. Fractional pico can then help smooth the surface over a course, as one part of a wider plan.

Pico Laser Price Singapore
Why does pico laser pricing vary so much online?
Because "pico laser" describes a laser technology, not a single fixed protocol. Settings, area, and session count all vary by concern and clinic.

Why does melasma cost more to treat than sun spots?
Sun spots often clear in a few sessions. Melasma needs gentle settings, more sessions spaced further apart, sun protection and often maintenance, because it tends to return. The total plan is longer even when each session is simpler.

Is a pico laser package worth buying?
Only once you know how your skin responds. A package bought before a first session commits you to a number nobody has tested. A plan with a review point after the first sessions is usually the better buy.

Pico Laser Results Timeline
How many pico laser sessions before I see results?
For sun spots and freckles, many people see a clear change after one or two sessions, judged four to six weeks after each. Melasma, post-acne marks and dull tone need a course, and tattoos need many sessions. The number for your skin is estimated at assessment and reviewed as you go.
Read more: Pico Laser Results Timeline
Why do my spots look darker after pico laser?
Darkening in the first week is expected. The laser breaks pigment into fine particles that rise with the healing surface and form micro-crusts, which lift in about five to ten days. New darkening two to six weeks later is different and should be shown to the clinic.

Is one session of pico laser enough?
Sometimes, for a few well-defined sun spots or freckles. Most other concerns, including melasma, dull tone, acne marks, texture and tattoos, need a course. Whether a second session is needed is decided at review, against your baseline photographs.
Read more: Pico Laser Results Timeline
When will I see the final result of pico laser?
For spot treatment, the fair comparison is four to six weeks after the session. For fractional pico aimed at texture or pores, change continues for three to six months. For melasma, results are judged after the course and then kept under review.

Do pico laser results last?
Treated sun spots usually stay lighter, but new spots can form with sun. Freckles return with sun exposure, and melasma tends to recur, so maintenance and daily sunscreen decide how long the result holds. Cleared tattoo ink does not return.

Can pico laser make pigmentation worse?
It can, uncommonly. Post-inflammatory darkening can follow treatment, especially in skin types III to V after sun or with excess energy, and melasma can darken after strong spot settings. Typing the pigment first, gentle settings and strict sun protection reduce the risk.

Is pico laser better than Q-switched laser for results?
For many benign pigmented spots in Asian skin, picosecond lasers clear pigment with less heat spread, and one randomised split-face study found fewer cases of post-inflammatory darkening on the picosecond side. For some uses the two are similar. The choice follows the pigment, not the label.

Pico Laser Side Effects and Aftercare Checklist
How long does redness last after pico laser?
After pico toning, redness usually fades within a few hours to a day. After spot treatment, the redness settles within a day or two, but the spots darken and form fine crusts that lift in about five to ten days. Fractional pico leaves redness and faint dots for one to three days.
Read more: Pico Laser Side Effects and Aftercare Checklist
Why did my pigmentation get darker after pico laser?
In the first week, treated spots darken because broken-up pigment rises to the surface in micro-crusts; that is expected. New darkening two to six weeks later is usually post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Send a photograph to the clinic; it is managed with sun protection and topical care, and further laser waits until it fades.

Can pico laser cause hypopigmentation?
It can, uncommonly. Temporary pale patches can follow strong spot treatment and usually even out. Scattered pale flecks have been reported after long, frequent toning courses, mainly with Q-switched lasers, which is why toning is planned as a course with review points rather than continued indefinitely.

When can I wear make-up after pico laser?
After toning, usually the same day once redness settles. After spot treatment, on intact skin only, so around treated spots straight away and over them once the crusts have lifted, typically after a week. Use clean brushes and remove make-up gently.

Is pico laser safe for melasma?
Pico laser can help some melasma as part of a wider plan, but strong spot settings can make melasma darker. Melasma is treated with sun protection, topical care and gentle, low-energy laser where suitable, and it tends to recur, so the diagnosis is confirmed first.

Can I go in the sun after pico laser?
Brief, protected exposure is fine; prolonged sun is not. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning and reapply outdoors, wear a hat, keep to shade, and avoid beach holidays in the first few weeks. Sun on freshly treated skin is the main cause of darkening afterwards.

Pico Laser Singapore
What is pico laser used for?
Pico laser is used mainly for brown pigment and tattoo ink. That includes sun spots, freckles, post-acne marks, deeper pigment such as Hori’s naevus and, at low energy and with caution, melasma. It is also used for dull, uneven tone. It is less suited to raised growths, redness and deep acne scars, which are treated with other methods after assessment.

How many pico laser sessions will I need?
It depends on the pigment. Many sun spots and freckles lighten in one to three sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart. Melasma and dull tone are treated with gentler sessions over a longer course, followed by maintenance. Tattoos usually need many sessions several weeks apart. Dr Sin Yong gives an estimate after examining the skin and reviews it as you respond.

Is there downtime after pico laser?
It varies with the setting. Low-energy toning usually leaves redness for a few hours. Spot treatment of sun spots causes darkening and fine crusts that lift over about five to ten days. Tattoo removal can blister and takes longer to settle. Most people return to work the same day, with sunscreen and gentle skincare while the skin heals.

Is pico laser safe for Asian skin?
Picosecond pulses deliver less heat to the surrounding skin than older nanosecond lasers, which helps in skin that pigments easily, but they do not remove risk. Post-inflammatory darkening, pale patches and, rarely, blistering or scarring can occur. Settings are chosen for your skin type, a test spot may be done, and sun protection in the weeks around treatment is essential.

Can pico laser remove melasma?
Melasma can be lightened but not removed for good, because it is a chronic condition driven by hormones, light and heat. Pico or low-fluence laser is used gently as one part of a plan that includes sun and visible-light protection, topical care and, where suitable, oral tranexamic acid, a prescription medicine. Aggressive laser can make melasma darker.

How much does pico laser cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on what is being treated, the size of the area, the protocol and wavelength used, and how many sessions your pigment is likely to need. Dr Sin Yong gives a written quote after assessment, and the consultation fee is waived with any medical treatment.

What are the benefits of pico laser?
Pico laser is used to lighten defined brown spots such as sun spots and freckles, to even out tone with low-energy passes, to reach deeper pigment such as Hori’s naevus, to fade persistent post-acne marks and to break up tattoo ink. Fractional modes can play a supporting part for shallow texture. Results vary with the pigment and skin type, and it does not lighten natural skin colour or tighten skin.
Read more: Pico Laser Singapore
Is pico laser the same as laser toning?
Not exactly. Pico describes a pulse length of trillionths of a second. Laser toning describes low-energy passes over the whole face, often with a Q-switched 1064 nm laser, to even out tone. A pico laser can also be used for toning, and many plans combine spot treatment with toning.

Which is better, Fotona StarWalker PQX or DEKA TORO?
Neither is better in general. The StarWalker PQX offers picosecond and Q-switched Nd:YAG pulses; the TORO offers 785 nm picosecond with 532 nm and 1064 nm Q-switched pulses. Dr Sin Yong chooses the platform and wavelength for your pigment and skin type after examination.

How often can I have pico laser?
Toning sessions are usually spaced two to four weeks apart. Spot treatment and deeper pigment are spaced four to eight weeks or more, so the skin has time to clear fragments and settle. More frequent sessions do not speed results and can raise the risk of pigment problems.

Can I have pico laser before an event?
Toning usually leaves only brief pinkness and can be done a few days before. Spot treatment causes darkening and fine crusts for about five to ten days, so it is better planned at least two weeks ahead. Avoid starting a course just before a beach holiday.
Read more: Pico Laser Singapore
How soon will I see results after pico laser?
Treated spots usually darken and flake within the first week, then look lighter over two to six weeks as the body clears the fragments. Toning changes are gradual and build across a course. Melasma, dermal pigment and tattoos change more slowly, over months. Progress is judged at review against your baseline photographs, not in the mirror the next day.

Can I wear make-up after pico laser?
After toning, usually yes, later the same day or the next morning. After spot treatment, make-up can usually be applied over the darkened spots from the next day, as long as the skin is not broken; remove it gently and do not rub the micro-crusts off. Over tattoo removal sites, wait until the skin has fully healed.

Pico laser vs CO2 laser: what is the difference?
They treat different problems. A pico laser breaks up pigment and ink with very short pulses and leaves the skin surface largely intact. A fractional CO2 laser is ablative: it creates tiny columns of controlled injury so the skin rebuilds, which suits acne scars and texture rather than pigment, and recovery takes longer. See CO2 laser in Singapore.

Can pico laser help acne scars?
Only in a supporting role. Fractional picosecond modes can soften shallow texture and lighten the brown marks acne leaves behind, but they do little for deep rolling, boxcar or ice-pick scars, which usually need subcision, TCA CROSS, resurfacing or RF microneedling first. See pico laser for acne scars for where it fits.

How long do pico laser results last?
A sun spot or freckle that has cleared usually stays clear at that spot, but new pigment can form with sun exposure, so daily sunscreen protects the result. Melasma tends to return without maintenance, because the tendency to make pigment remains. Faded tattoo ink does not come back, although some ink may remain. How long tone results hold varies between people.
Read more: Pico Laser Singapore
What should I avoid after pico laser?
For about a week, avoid direct sun, saunas, hot yoga and heavy sweating, and skip scrubs, strong acids and retinoids. Do not pick crusts. Use a gentle cleanser, a bland moisturiser and a high-protection, preferably tinted sunscreen every day. If a beach holiday or an outdoor event is coming up, tell the clinic so sessions can be timed around it.

Can pico laser remove tattoos?
Pico laser is often used for tattoo removal because the very short pulse fragments ink into particles small enough for the body to clear. Black and dark blue ink usually respond well; some colours and cosmetic inks respond slowly or poorly, and some can darken. Many sessions spaced well apart are needed, and complete clearance is not always possible. Tattoo removal is assessed and planned as its own treatment.

What are the disadvantages of pico laser?
The main drawbacks are that most concerns need several sessions, the cost builds over a course, and skin types III to V carry a risk of temporary darkening. Pico laser does little for redness, raised growths, deep scars or sagging. Melasma can return with sun, heat and hormonal change, so maintenance is usually needed. These limits are discussed at assessment before anything is booked.
Read more: Pico Laser Singapore
How long does a pico laser session take?
The laser itself is usually quick: a few minutes for scattered spots and longer for a full face or a large tattoo. Numbing cream, where used, adds time beforehand, and cleansing and photos come first. Plan for the visit to take longer than the laser time, and for a review four to eight weeks later.
Read more: Pico Laser Singapore
Should I stop retinoids before pico laser?
Usually, yes, for about a week before and until the skin has settled afterwards, unless the doctor advises otherwise. Retinoids, exfoliating acids and scrubs make skin more reactive, which raises the chance of irritation and darker marks. Prescription acne tablets are a separate question and may mean waiting longer, so mention every product and medicine at assessment.
Read more: Pico Laser Singapore
Can pico laser treat Hori’s naevus?
Often, over an extended course. Hori’s naevus is pigment set deep in the skin, usually on the cheeks, and it can respond to picosecond or Q-switched pulses spaced weeks apart. It is often mistaken for melasma, and the two can coexist, which is why the pigment is typed under magnification first. Temporary darkening between sessions is common and is managed early.
Read more: Pico Laser Singapore
Which pico laser wavelength is used for pigmentation?
It depends on depth. 532 nm reaches pigment near the surface, such as sun spots, while 1,064 nm reaches deeper pigment and is gentler on darker skin; the DEKA TORO adds 785 nm. A meta-analysis in Asian patients found 532, 755 and 1,064 nm picosecond lasers performed similarly, so the choice follows your pigment and skin type.

Is pico laser painful?
Most people describe a snapping or hot-pinprick feeling rather than pain. Toning is usually well tolerated without numbing; spot treatment and tattoos are more uncomfortable, so numbing cream may be applied first. Cooling during and after the session helps, and the area usually feels warm, like mild sunburn, for a few hours.

Can I have pico laser while pregnant?
Pigment laser is usually postponed during pregnancy, and often while breastfeeding, because pregnancy hormones make pigment, particularly melasma, less predictable and treatment is elective. Gentle skincare and sun protection continue, and the pigment can be assessed so a plan is ready afterwards; see treatments in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Pico Laser vs Microneedling Singapore
Is pico laser or microneedling better for acne scars?
Both can play a role depending on scar type. Rolling and boxcar scars often respond well to microneedling's collagen stimulation; associated pigmentation from old acne marks may respond better to pico laser. A proper assessment determines the right approach for your specific scarring.

Does microneedling have more downtime than pico laser?
Downtime varies by individual and by the specific settings/depth used in either treatment — this is worth discussing directly at consultation rather than assuming one is categorically shorter than the other.

Can I do pico laser and microneedling in the same visit?
This depends on individual skin condition and is assessed by your treating physician — not something to self-determine from general information online.

Which is better for enlarged pores, pico laser or microneedling?
Pores that look larger because of oil and texture often improve with microneedling or RF microneedling, which remodel the skin around them. Fractional pico laser can also help texture. The cause of the pores decides, and oil control is part of the plan.

Which comes first, pico laser or microneedling?
There is no fixed order. If marks are the main concern, pico laser often starts; if scar depth is, microneedling may. In combined plans they alternate with spacing set at assessment.
Read more: Pico Laser vs Microneedling Singapore
Is microneedling or pico laser safer for Asian skin?
Both can be used safely in Asian skin when settings are conservative. Microneedling leaves the surface largely intact, and pico laser spreads less heat than older lasers; either can still cause temporary darkening, so spacing and sun care matter.

Pico Toning vs Laser Toning
Is pico toning better than laser toning?
Not in every case. Pico toning breaks pigment with less heat spread and may even out tone a little faster, but Q-switched toning has a longer track record, especially in Asian melasma. Both can be overdone. The diagnosis, the settings and sun protection matter more than the type of pulse.
Read more: Pico Toning vs Laser Toning
What is pico toning?
Pico toning is a low-energy, large-spot technique using a picosecond laser, passed over the whole face several times and repeated across a course. Picosecond pulses break pigment mainly by pressure rather than heat. It is used for dull, uneven tone and, carefully, as part of melasma care.
Read more: Pico Toning vs Laser Toning
Is laser toning the same as Q-switched laser?
Laser toning is a technique, usually done with a Q-switched 1064 nm laser at low energy. The same Q-switched laser can also be used at higher energy on individual spots, which is a different treatment with more downtime. Pico lasers can be used in both ways too.
Read more: Pico Toning vs Laser Toning
How many pico toning sessions do I need?
Usually a course of several sessions, spaced one to a few weeks apart, then maintenance at longer intervals. The number depends on your pigment, skin type and response, and is reviewed partway through rather than fixed in advance.
Read more: Pico Toning vs Laser Toning
Can pico toning remove melasma?
It can lighten melasma as part of a plan that includes sun protection and topical care, but it does not remove the tendency. In studies, improvement faded without continued treatment. Melasma is managed rather than cured, and strong settings can make it darker.
Read more: Pico Toning vs Laser Toning
Is there downtime after pico toning or laser toning?
Usually only pinkness and warmth for a few hours. Make-up can often be worn the same day. Sunscreen is needed every day, and retinoids or exfoliating acids are usually paused for a few days around each session.
Read more: Pico Toning vs Laser Toning
Can laser toning cause white spots?
It can, uncommonly. Scattered pale flecks have been reported after long courses of frequent Q-switched toning. This is why toning is planned as a defined course with review points and spaced-out maintenance, rather than continued every week indefinitely.
Read more: Pico Toning vs Laser Toning
Which toning does IN Eternity Clinic use?
Both are available. Q-switched 1064 nm toning is done on the DEKA TORO, and pico toning on the clinic’s picosecond platforms, the DEKA TORO and Fotona StarWalker PQX. The choice is made at assessment by the doctor, based on your pigment and skin.

Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
Is pico laser better than Q-switched laser?
Not in every case. Picosecond pulses are about a thousand times shorter and break pigment with less heat, which helps in Asian skin and with tattoos. Q-switched pulses still work well for some pigment. Dr Sin Yong chooses the pulse, wavelength and settings after identifying the type of pigment.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
What is the difference between laser toning and pico laser?
Pico describes a pulse length. Laser toning describes a technique: low energy, large spot and repeated passes across the face over a course. Toning can be done with a Q-switched or picosecond laser. The choice depends on the pigment and how the skin responds.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
Can laser treat melasma?
Laser can be part of melasma care but does not remove its causes. Where used, it is gentle and conservative, alongside sun protection and, where suitable, medicines such as tranexamic acid, a prescription medicine. Aggressive laser can make melasma worse, so the plan is reviewed regularly.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
How many sessions will I need?
Discrete spots such as freckles may need one or two sessions. Deeper pigment and toning for uneven tone usually need a series spaced weeks or months apart. The number depends on the pigment, its depth and your skin type, and is estimated after assessment.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
Is there downtime after pico or Q-switched laser?
Toning usually leaves mild redness for a few hours. Targeted treatment of spots can leave darkened spots or small crusts that flake over about a week. Makeup can usually be worn the next day, and sun protection is essential throughout.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
How much does pico or laser toning cost?
Cost depends on the type and depth of pigment, the area treated, the platform and technique used, and the number of sessions needed. After assessment, Dr Sin Yong gives a written quote listing the planned sessions and any skincare or medicines included.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
Is laser safe for darker or Asian skin?
It can be, with the right wavelength, conservative settings and sensible intervals. The main risks are temporary darkening or pale spots. A test area may be treated first, and strict sun protection in the weeks around each session reduces the risk of pigment change.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
Is Q-switched laser the same as laser toning?
Not quite. Q-switched describes the pulse length. Laser toning describes how the laser is used: low energy, a large spot and repeated passes over a course. Toning is often done with a Q-switched 1064 nm laser, and can also be done with a picosecond laser.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
What is pico toning?
Pico toning is laser toning performed with a picosecond laser at low energy. The aim is the same as other toning, gradual evening of tone over a course, with pulses that deliver less heat to the surrounding skin.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
Which laser is used for Hori’s naevus?
Hori’s naevus sits deep in the dermis, so a longer wavelength such as 1064 nm is usually used, with sessions spaced weeks to months apart. It typically needs several sessions, and temporary darkening after treatment is watched for closely.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
Is Fotona StarWalker a pico laser or a Q-switched laser?
Both. The Fotona StarWalker PQX fires picosecond pulses and Q-switched nanosecond pulses, so one platform can switch pulse type to suit the pigment. The DEKA TORO used at IN Eternity Clinic also offers both.
Read more: Pico vs Q-Switched vs Laser Toning
Which is gentler, pico toning or Q-switched toning?
Both are low-energy techniques. Picosecond pulses deliver less heat to the surrounding skin, which can help in skin that darkens easily, but the settings and intervals matter more than the pulse type. Either can cause darkening or pale spots if pushed too hard.

PIE vs PIH
What is the difference between PIE and PIH?
PIE (post-inflammatory erythema) is a red or pink mark from widened small blood vessels; PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) is a brown mark from extra melanin. Press a clear glass on the mark: PIE fades under pressure, PIH does not.
Read more: PIE vs PIH
Do red acne marks go away on their own?
Most do, over months, once new spots stop forming. Sun protection, not picking and gentle skincare help. Red marks that persist can be treated with a laser that acts on the vessels.
Read more: PIE vs PIH
How long do brown acne marks last?
Surface pigment often fades over a few months with daily sunscreen. Deeper, greyer pigment can last a year or more, which is when treatment is usually considered.
Read more: PIE vs PIH
Are acne marks the same as acne scars?
No. Marks are flat changes in colour; scars change the contour of the skin, as dips, pits or raised bumps. They are treated with different tools, and many people have both.
Read more: PIE vs PIH
Which treatment helps brown acne marks in Asian skin?
Daily sunscreen and acne control come first, then pigment-safe or prescription skincare. For marks that persist, gentle low-heat options such as pico laser, laser toning or superficial peels are used, with settings chosen to avoid causing more pigment.
Read more: PIE vs PIH
Can I treat acne marks while I still have acne?
The acne is treated first, because every new spot can leave a new mark. Sun protection and gentle skincare can start straight away, and some mark treatment can run alongside acne treatment once spots are under control.

Pigmentation Concerns
Can pigmentation be permanently removed?
Sun-induced pigmentation often responds well and can stay clear with sun protection. Melasma is hormonally influenced and tends to recur, so it is managed over time rather than permanently resolved.
Read more: Pigmentation Concerns
Why did my pigmentation worsen after treatment?
This can occur when treatment triggers inflammation, which can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — a particular risk in melanin-rich skin when settings are not appropriately calibrated.
Read more: Pigmentation Concerns
How many sessions are needed?
This depends on pigment type, depth and severity, and is reviewed as treatment progresses rather than fixed at the outset.
Read more: Pigmentation Concerns
Why does pigmentation seem worse in Singapore?
Year-round UV, strong visible light and heat all stimulate pigment cells, and heat in particular aggravates melasma. Many people in Singapore also have skin types III to V, which react to inflammation with more pigment. Sun protection, heat avoidance and settings matched to skin type matter as much as the device.
Read more: Pigmentation Concerns
Can pigmentation be treated during pregnancy?
Most laser and prescription pigment treatment is postponed until after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Pregnancy often darkens melasma, and some of that settles afterwards. In the meantime, sun protection and pregnancy-safe skincare are used, and the plan is reassessed after delivery.
Read more: Pigmentation Concerns
Does pigmentation come back after laser?
It depends on the type. A treated sun spot does not usually return in the same place, though new spots can form with sun exposure. Melasma tends to recur, especially with heat and hormones, so it needs maintenance. Post-inflammatory marks fade once the inflammation that caused them is controlled.
Read more: Pigmentation Concerns
Can freckles be removed?
Freckles can be lightened with pico or Q-switched laser, often in one or a few sessions. The tendency to freckle is genetic, though, so new freckles appear with sun exposure. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen and shade are what keep the result. A freckle that looks different from the others is checked before any treatment.
Read more: Pigmentation Concerns
What can be done for dark lips?
It depends on the cause: sun, smoking, friction, some medicines, genetics or an old lip tattoo. Once a medical cause has been considered, pigment laser can lighten lip pigmentation over several sessions, with settings chosen for the thin lip skin. Balms that claim to bleach the lips rarely change deeper pigment. The lip pigmentation page covers this in detail.

Is pico laser always the right choice over laser toning?
No. Picosecond laser suits discrete spots such as solar lentigines and some freckles. Low-fluence laser toning suits diffuse uneven tone and is sometimes used cautiously in melasma. The choice depends on pigment type, depth and skin type, and some plans use both at different stages.
Read more: Pigmentation Concerns
How much does pigmentation treatment cost?
Cost depends on the pigment type, the size of the area, which laser or medical treatment is used and how many sessions are needed. Melasma usually needs a longer plan with maintenance than a few sun spots do. Dr Sin Yong gives a written quote after assessment, with no obligation to book on the day.

Pigmentation Hub
Which pigmentation page should I read first?
If you do not know what your marks are, start with pigmentation concerns by type. If you already know, go to the treatment page for that type, such as melasma treatment or freckles removal. The main guide to pigmentation removal in Singapore covers all the common types on one page, with sessions and darkening risk for each.
Read more: Pigmentation Hub
Can pigmentation be removed for good?
It depends on the type. Sun spots and freckles can often be lightened substantially, but new ones may form with further sun exposure. Melasma is a long-term tendency, so it is usually controlled rather than cleared once, and it can return with sun, heat or hormonal change. Upkeep and sun protection are part of every plan.
Read more: Pigmentation Hub
Is pico laser safe for Asian skin?
Pico laser is widely used in Asian skin, but skin types III to V darken more easily after inflammation, so settings, spacing and aftercare matter. At IN Eternity Clinic the pigment is typed first, a cautious first session is planned where risk is higher, and fresh tans and unstable melasma are reasons to wait.
Read more: Pigmentation Hub
Why does the type of pigmentation matter?
Each type sits at a different depth and has a different driver. Sun spots respond to targeted laser; melasma reacts to heat and needs gentler, combined care; acne marks fade once the acne is controlled. Treating the wrong type with the wrong settings can make pigmentation darker, so the type is confirmed before any plan.
Read more: Pigmentation Hub
How many sessions does pigmentation treatment take?
It varies between people and types. Sun spots often need one to three sessions; freckles a few; melasma and tattoos usually a longer course with maintenance. The number is estimated at assessment from the type, depth, area and your skin type, and reviewed as the skin responds.
Read more: Pigmentation Hub
What should I do before a pigmentation consultation?
Avoid tanning in the weeks before, bring a list of the creams and medicines you use, and note when the marks appeared and whether they change with sun or hormones. Photographs from earlier years can help. Dr Sin Yong examines the skin, and any spot that looks unusual is checked before laser is considered.

Pigmentation Removal Cost in Singapore
How much does pigmentation removal cost in Singapore?
There is no single figure, because the cost depends on the type of pigment, the area, the laser and protocol, the number of sessions and any medical treatment or maintenance. A few sun spots are a short plan; melasma and deeper pigment need longer ones. Dr Sin Yong gives a written quote after examining the skin, and the consultation fee is waived with any medical treatment.
Read more: Pigmentation Removal Cost in Singapore
Why do quotes for pigmentation treatment vary so much?
Quotes vary because “pigmentation” covers several conditions, and plans differ in the laser, wavelength, number of passes, area covered and number of sessions. Some quotes include medical care, review visits or maintenance and some do not. Comparing what is included, and whether the pigment has been diagnosed first, is more useful than comparing headline figures.

How many sessions does pigmentation removal take?
Sun spots often need one to three sessions. Freckles respond quickly but return with sun exposure. Melasma usually needs a course of gentle sessions over months, plus maintenance. Post-inflammatory marks and dermal pigment such as Hori’s naevus need several sessions. The estimate is given after assessment and reviewed as your skin responds.

Is pigmentation removal covered by insurance or MediSave?
Cosmetic pigment treatment is generally not covered by MediSave or by most insurance plans. A lesion that needs medical assessment, removal or laboratory testing may be handled differently. If you have a specific policy, check its terms with your insurer before treatment, and ask the clinic if you need details of the procedure for a claim.
Read more: Pigmentation Removal Cost in Singapore
Is a cheaper per-session price a better deal?
Not necessarily. What matters is whether the treatment matches your pigment, how many sessions it will take and what happens if it does not respond. A lower per-session figure for the wrong treatment can cost more overall, particularly in melasma, where unsuitable laser can cause rebound darkening that takes months to settle.

Do I need creams as well as laser?
Often. For melasma, sun protection that covers visible light and topical treatment are the foundation, with laser in a supporting role. For post-inflammatory marks, topical care usually comes first. For sun spots, creams are less important for removal but help keep tone even afterwards. What you need is decided after assessment.

Can pigmentation come back after I have paid for treatment?
Yes, depending on the type. Treated sun spots usually stay lighter, but new ones can form with sun. Freckles return with sun exposure. Melasma is chronic and tends to recur with sun, heat or hormonal change. Daily sun protection and, where needed, maintenance sessions are what protect the result and the money spent.

How many sessions for pigmentation laser in Singapore?
Solar lentigines and freckles often see significant improvement in 1–3 sessions. PIH requires 4–8 sessions. Melasma requires ongoing management — 6–10 sessions for initial improvement, then maintenance every 2–3 months.

Can pigmentation return after laser treatment?
Yes — particularly melasma, which recurs with UV exposure, hormonal changes or skin inflammation. Consistent sun protection and maintenance treatments prevent recurrence.
Read more: Pigmentation Removal Singapore
Is laser safe for Asian skin tones?
Yes, when performed by an experienced physician using appropriate protocols for Asian skin. The risk of PIH from laser is higher in Fitzpatrick III–V skin (typical of Singapore patients) if energy levels are too high. Dr Sin Yong calibrates all laser treatments to the patient's skin tone at every session.

Which treatment suits melasma?
A combination approach: low-energy Q-switched laser toning, topical lightening agents, oral photoprotection (Heliocare Luminance), and rigorous daily SPF 50+. Melasma management is a long-term commitment — no single treatment eliminates it.

What is the difference between melasma and sun spots?
Sun spots are discrete, sharp-edged brown spots from cumulative sun exposure, and they usually clear well with laser. Melasma is symmetrical, patchy and driven by hormones as well as light; it tends to recur and can darken with strong laser, so it is managed more gently.
Read more: Pigmentation Removal Singapore
Can pigmentation be removed completely?
Some types can be cleared, such as many sun spots and freckles, though new ones can form with sun exposure. Melasma can be lightened and controlled but tends to return, so the aim is control rather than a one-off removal.
Read more: Pigmentation Removal Singapore
Which laser is used for pigmentation?
It depends on the pigment. Picosecond or Q-switched lasers suit discrete spots and deeper dermal pigment; low-energy toning is sometimes used for melasma with care. At IN Eternity, the Fotona StarWalker PQX and DEKA TORO are used, with settings chosen after the pigment is typed.

What is Hori’s naevus, and how is it different from melasma?
Hori’s naevus is pigment made by cells in the deeper layer of the skin, showing as grey-brown or bluish speckles on both cheekbones, often appearing between the 20s and 40s. Melasma sits mostly in the upper skin as blurred brown patches that flare with sun and hormones. Hori’s naevus barely responds to creams and needs a spaced laser course; melasma needs gentle, long-term control. They often appear together.

Why did my pigmentation get darker after laser?
Two things can cause it. Spots treated directly darken and crust for about a week before lifting, which is expected. Darkening that appears two to six weeks later in or around the treated area is usually post-inflammatory pigmentation, which is more common in skin types III to V. It usually fades over months with sun protection and topical care. Contact the clinic so the settings and timing can be reviewed.
Read more: Pigmentation Removal Singapore
How soon will I see results from pigmentation treatment?
Sun spots and freckles treated directly often look lighter once the fine crusts lift, one to two weeks after a session, and keep fading over the following month. Melasma and acne marks change more slowly, over a course of sessions and creams spread across several months. Hori’s naevus fades gradually after each session. Results vary between people and are judged on standardised photographs.

Can I wear make-up after pigmentation laser?
Usually from the next day, if the skin is not broken. Mineral make-up or a tinted sunscreen over treated spots is fine once crusts have formed, provided you do not scrub or pick them. After stronger spot treatment or fractional settings, wait until the skin has closed, usually a few days. You are told on the day what applies to your treatment.

Does pigmentation laser hurt?
Most people describe a quick snap or prickle, like a rubber band, followed by warmth. Low-energy toning is usually mild. Treating dense spots or deeper pigment such as Hori’s naevus feels sharper, so numbing cream and cooling are used. The sensation stops when the laser stops, and any warmth usually settles within a few hours.
Read more: Pigmentation Removal Singapore
Can pregnancy or hormonal contraception cause pigmentation?
Yes. Melasma often starts or worsens during pregnancy or with hormonal contraception, because these hormones make pigment cells more responsive to light. Pigment laser and most prescription lightening creams are usually postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and strict sun protection is the main step until then. See treatments in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

How long does pigmentation removal last?
Removed sun spots and freckles do not come back in the same place, but new ones form with sun exposure, so results are not permanent in practice. Melasma and post-inflammatory marks can return with sun, heat, hormones or inflammation. Daily sunscreen, shade and occasional upkeep keep the skin clearer for longer.

Does pigmentation get darker before it fades after laser?
Often, yes, for sun spots and freckles: treated spots usually darken for a few days and then flake off over about a week. That is expected. Darkening of a wider area that lasts for weeks is different; it may be post-inflammatory pigmentation or melasma reacting, and should be reviewed rather than treated again.

Can oral medicine help pigmentation?
For melasma, oral tranexamic acid helps many people when prescribed after a check of clotting risk; in a Singapore study about nine in ten improved, though about a quarter relapsed. It is not used for sun spots or freckles, which respond to laser. Medicines are prescribed only after assessment, never as a self-started supplement.

What is the difference between pigmentation removal and laser toning?
Pigmentation removal is the aim; laser toning is one method. Toning passes a low-energy laser over the whole face and is used gently for melasma and uneven tone. Discrete sun spots are usually treated spot by spot at higher energy instead. Which approach suits you depends on the pigment type, explained on our laser toning page.

Is pico laser safe for Asian skin?
Picosecond lasers deliver less heat to the surrounding skin than older lasers, which lowers the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation in Asian skin. Safety still depends on correct pigment diagnosis, conservative settings and sun protection.

What is the difference between pico laser and Q-switched laser?
Pico lasers use pulses a thousand times shorter than Q-switched lasers, shattering pigment mainly by pressure rather than heat. In an Asian split-face trial on sun spots, pico cleared more pigment with less post-inflammatory pigmentation.

Can I go back to work the same day?
Yes, most people do. Redness usually settles within a few hours to a day. After targeted spot treatment, the treated marks darken and may flake for about five to ten days; they can usually be covered with make-up from the next day. Gentle toning sessions leave little to see beyond brief pinkness.

Will people notice I had pico laser?
After toning sessions, rarely. After spot treatment, darker crusting spots are visible close up for about a week, so some people avoid booking just before an event. As the fragments clear over the following weeks, people tend to notice that your skin looks clearer and more even rather than that you had laser.

Which laser is used for pigmentation in Singapore?
No single laser suits every pigment. Picosecond and Q-switched lasers are the most widely used for brown pigment, with the wavelength chosen for its depth. At IN Eternity Clinic, Dr Sin Yong uses the Fotona StarWalker PQX and the DEKA TORO, and sometimes laser toning, after typing the pigment.

Pico laser vs chemical peel for pigmentation: which is better?
They do different jobs. A pico laser breaks up pigment at a chosen depth, so it suits defined spots and deeper pigment. A chemical peel lifts surface pigment and helps topical care work, so it suits diffuse surface unevenness and some post-acne marks. Many plans use both at different times, and peel strength is chosen carefully in darker skin. See chemical peels in Singapore.

Can laser remove age spots on the hands?
Often, yes. Sun spots on the backs of the hands are usually in the upper skin and respond to targeted spot pulses much as facial spots do, although hand skin heals more slowly and crusts can take longer to lift. Any spot that is raised, rough or changing is examined first. Sun protection on the hands afterwards helps prevent new spots. See age spot removal.

Does laser work for Hori’s naevus?
Hori’s naevus is pigment in the dermis, so it needs longer wavelengths such as 785 nm or 1064 nm that reach deeper, given in sessions several months apart. It usually responds over a longer course than sun spots, and temporary darkening between sessions is common. Because it is often mistaken for melasma, the diagnosis is confirmed at examination before any laser is planned.
Read more: Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
What should I avoid before laser for pigmentation?
In the two weeks before, avoid tanning, beach holidays and long spells in the midday sun, since tanned skin raises the risk of pigment problems. Pause retinoids, exfoliating acids and scrubs for the few days advised. Tell the clinic about any new medicines, cold sores or skin irritation, and arrive without make-up if you can.

Can naevus of Ota or Hori’s naevus be treated with laser?
Usually, yes, but slowly. Both are pigment in the dermis, so they need longer wavelengths that reach deeper, such as 785 nm or 1064 nm, given in sessions spaced months apart. Temporary darkening after each session is common. The diagnosis is confirmed at examination first, because Hori’s naevus is often mistaken for melasma.
Read more: Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
Can pigmentation get worse after laser?
It can, which is why settings follow the pigment type. Post-inflammatory darkening two to six weeks after treatment is the main risk in skin types III to V, and melasma can rebound if treated with too much heat. Both usually fade with strict sun protection and skincare. Typing the pigment first and starting conservatively reduce the risk.
Read more: Pigmentation Treatment Singapore
What is the difference between laser toning and pico spot treatment?
Laser toning uses low-energy passes over the whole face to even out tone and calm melasma gradually, with little visible downtime. Pico spot treatment aims higher energy at individual sun spots or freckles, which darken and flake over about a week. Many plans use both at different times, chosen by pigment type.

Should melasma be treated before sun spots?
Usually the two are planned together but handled differently. Sun spots can be treated spot by spot, while melasma around them is calmed with sun protection, skincare and gentle sessions. Strong spot settings placed over melasma can provoke rebound, so the order and energy are set after the pigment types have been mapped.

Post-Laser Scab Care
How long do laser scabs last?
On the face, crusts after pico spot treatment usually lift in five to ten days, and the fine crusts after fractional CO2 in about a week. A scab after a laser mole shave takes one to two weeks. Body skin, especially the legs and back, takes longer.
Read more: Post-Laser Scab Care
Should I put Vaseline on laser scabs?
A thin layer of plain petroleum jelly or the ointment you were given is commonly advised to keep crusts moist so they lift evenly. Follow your written aftercare sheet, and stop any product that stings or causes a rash.
Read more: Post-Laser Scab Care
Can I wear make-up over laser scabs?
It is better not to. Make-up rubbed over crusts can lift them early and carry bacteria into healing skin. Apply it around the treated area with clean brushes, and over it once the crusts have come off on their own.
Read more: Post-Laser Scab Care
What happens if I pick a laser scab?
The new skin underneath is exposed before it is ready. That raises the chance of a dark mark, especially in Asian skin, and can leave a small dent or scar. If a crust is caught and lifts, clean the area, apply ointment and protect it from sun.

Why do I still have scabs two weeks after laser?
Body skin, deeper settings and tattoo removal can take longer, so this is sometimes normal. Scabs that are thick, weeping, painful or still present after about two weeks on the face should be reviewed, because infection or delayed healing needs treating early.
Read more: Post-Laser Scab Care
Is scabbing after laser hair removal normal?
Redness and small bumps are normal; scabs are not routine. Scattered small crusts usually heal in one to two weeks if left alone, but show them to the clinic before your next session so the settings can be adjusted.
Read more: Post-Laser Scab Care
Should laser scabs be kept moist or dry?
Moist, under a thin layer. Crusts kept moist with the ointment or bland moisturiser you were given stay thinner and lift more evenly, while dry crusts crack and catch. A thick layer is not needed, and any product that stings should be stopped.
Read more: Post-Laser Scab Care
Can I shower and wash my face with laser scabs?
Yes. Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser, let water run over the area rather than rubbing it, and pat dry. Avoid long hot showers, saunas and swimming pools for the first few days.
Read more: Post-Laser Scab Care
Why do laser scabs look darker than the original spot?
After pigment treatment the crust contains the fragmented pigment rising to the surface, so spots look darker for a few days before the crusts lift. That is expected. Darkening that appears two to six weeks later is different and should be reviewed.

R2 Glow
What does the R2 Glow Laser treat?
Skin brightening, mild pigmentation (solar lentigines, mild PIH), skin texture improvement and overall radiance enhancement — with little downtime for most people.
Read more: R2 Glow
How many sessions are needed?
Typically 4–6 sessions spaced 2–3 weeks apart for initial brightening, followed by monthly maintenance.
Read more: R2 Glow
Is there downtime?
Little downtime — the R2 Glow usually fits into a lunch break. Mild redness for 1–2 hours is common.
Read more: R2 Glow
Can it treat melasma?
The R2 Glow Laser is appropriate for mild skin brightening but should not be used aggressively on active melasma without a specific melasma management protocol. Dr Sin Yong assesses each patient's pigmentation type before selecting the appropriate laser approach.

Can the R2 Glow be combined with the FSX Laser?
Yes — the two are frequently combined in a single session for simultaneous skin brightening and lifting.

How much does R2 Glow Laser cost in Singapore?
Pricing depends on the area treated and the number of sessions your plan involves, which vary with your skin and concern. Because the course is tailored, IN Eternity Clinic sets out the full plan and cost at consultation rather than a fixed price.

Is R2 Glow Laser painful?
Most patients describe a warm or light prickling sensation during treatment, managed with cooling and adjustable settings. Numbing can be applied where helpful. The sensation passes quickly, and what to expect is explained beforehand.

How do you remove pigmentation from the face permanently?
No treatment can promise permanent pigment removal, and any that claims to should be treated with caution — pigment can recur if its drivers, such as sun exposure or inflammation, continue. What laser treatment can do is reduce existing pigment and, alongside sun protection and management of the underlying driver, help keep it from returning. At IN Eternity Clinic the pigment is assessed first, since epidermal pigment, dermal pigment and melasma respond differently.
Read more: R2 Glow
How do you get rid of pigmentation on the face?
Facial pigmentation is addressed by first identifying its type — sun-induced, post-inflammatory, or melasma — because each responds to a different approach. Laser treatment fragments or reduces the pigment, while addressing drivers such as sun exposure limits recurrence. At IN Eternity Clinic this is assessed in person, as aggressive treatment of some pigment, melasma in particular, can worsen it.

What is pigmentation?
Pigmentation refers to areas of skin that are darker than the surrounding skin because of excess melanin. It has several forms — sun-induced lentigines, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after acne or irritation, and melasma, a chronic hormonally-influenced pattern. The type matters because each responds to different treatment, which is why assessment comes before any laser at IN Eternity Clinic.

How long do results from the R2 Glow Laser last?
Results from the R2 Glow Laser build in the weeks after each session as the skin renews, and are commonly maintained with periodic treatment. The interval depends on your skin and concern, and is planned individually.

Can I go back to work the same day after R2 Glow?
Yes. Most people have mild redness that settles within a few hours, and make-up can usually be applied later the same day. If darker spots are being targeted, they may flake over the following days, which is easy to cover. Strong actives such as retinoids are usually paused for a few days, as advised at your visit.
Read more: R2 Glow
Will people notice I had a laser treatment?
Usually not, beyond a little redness for an hour or two. Over the course, people tend to notice that your skin looks brighter and more even. If discrete sun spots are treated, they may look darker and flake for several days before clearing, so plan around important events if that matters to you.
Read more: R2 Glow
Is R2 Glow safe for darker skin?
It can be used in skin types III to V with care. Gentle, multi-pass settings keep heat low, which reduces the risk of post-inflammatory darkening, though it does not remove it. Recent tanning is a reason to wait, sessions are spaced, and daily sunscreen between sessions is part of the treatment.

R2 Glow vs laser toning: what is the difference?
Laser toning usually means low-energy Q-switched 1064 nm passes over the whole face. R2 Glow is IN Eternity Clinic’s protocol on the Fotona StarWalker PQX, combining several passes at different settings, with picosecond or Q-switched pulses chosen for the concern. See laser toning in Singapore.
Read more: R2 Glow
How soon will I see results from R2 Glow?
Many people notice their skin looks fresher within days of a session, but a more even tone usually builds across a course of several sessions. Darker spots may flake within the first week before looking lighter. Change is judged against your baseline photographs at review, and varies between people.

Does R2 Glow help acne marks?
It can help the flat brown marks that acne leaves behind, once active acne is under control, because those marks are pigment. Red marks and textured scars are different problems and usually need other treatments, such as a 675 nm laser or resurfacing. See post-inflammatory pigmentation for how acne marks are told apart.

Singapore Humidity and Post-Laser Care
Is it safe to have laser in Singapore’s hot weather?
Yes, with planning. Heat, sweat and strong UV prolong redness and raise the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially in skin types III to V, so settings are chosen conservatively and aftercare focuses on shade, sun protection and light, bland products.
Read more: Singapore Humidity and Post-Laser Care
Should I use a thick ointment after laser in humid weather?
Only a thin film, and only where the surface is open, for example in the first days after CO2 resurfacing. A thick layer on warm, sweating skin traps heat and can cause heat rash or bumps. Once the skin has closed, a light, fragrance-free moisturiser is usually enough.
Read more: Singapore Humidity and Post-Laser Care
When can I exercise after laser?
It depends on the treatment: about a day after laser toning or laser hair removal, two to three days after non-ablative fractional laser, and once the surface has closed, usually about a week, after CO2 resurfacing. Hot yoga, saunas and steam need longer. Follow your own aftercare sheet.
Read more: Singapore Humidity and Post-Laser Care
Does sweat cause pigmentation after laser?
Not directly. Sweat irritates healing skin and can prolong inflammation, and inflammation is what drives post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Blotting sweat gently, rinsing after exercise and strict sun protection all reduce the risk.
Read more: Singapore Humidity and Post-Laser Care
Which sunscreen should I use after laser?
A broad-spectrum sunscreen you will re-apply, once the treated surface has closed. Mineral or tinted formulas are often better tolerated on healing skin, and tinted sunscreens with iron oxides add visible-light protection, which is useful for melasma.
Read more: Singapore Humidity and Post-Laser Care
Why does my skin feel tight in the office after laser?
Air-conditioned air is drier than outdoor air, so healing skin loses water faster indoors. A light moisturiser top-up in the afternoon usually helps more than a heavier product in the morning.
Read more: Singapore Humidity and Post-Laser Care
Can I swim after laser?
Not until the surface has fully closed and any crusts have lifted. Chlorine and salt water irritate open or healing skin. After non-ablative treatments, a day or two is usually enough; after resurfacing it is longer.

Skin Brightening Treatment Singapore
Is skin brightening the same as skin whitening?
No. Skin whitening is the term many people search for, but the medical aim is brightening: even tone and better light reflection at your natural colour. Natural skin colour is set by genetics; trying to lighten it with strong products risks irritation, darkening or damage.
Read more: Skin Brightening Treatment Singapore
What is the most effective skin brightening treatment?
It depends on the cause. Diffuse uneven pigment responds to laser toning, defined spots to pigment laser spot treatment, rough texture to peels and facials, and dehydration to skin boosters. Most plans combine two or three steps, chosen after assessment.

Does IN Eternity Clinic offer glutathione injections?
No. IN Eternity Clinic does not offer glutathione injections or drips. Evidence that injected glutathione brightens skin is limited, with uncertain dosing and long-term safety, and some products used elsewhere are unregistered.

How many laser toning sessions are needed for brighter skin?
Usually a course of several sessions spaced one to a few weeks apart, then maintenance at longer intervals. The number depends on the cause and your skin, and is reviewed during the course. Toning is not continued indefinitely.
Read more: Skin Brightening Treatment Singapore
Is there downtime after skin brightening treatment?
Usually little. Laser toning leaves pinkness for a few hours, facials none to minimal, and skin boosters small bumps for a day or two. Spot treatment of pigment leaves darkened spots and fine crusts for about a week.
Read more: Skin Brightening Treatment Singapore
Can darker skin types have brightening treatment?
Yes, with care. The aim is evenness at your natural colour, which suits every skin tone. Laser energy is lower, intervals longer and sun protection stricter in skin types IV to V, because they are more prone to post-inflammatory darkening.

Are brightening creams from online shops safe?
Some are not. Products sold for lightening have been found to contain mercury, steroids or undeclared prescription ingredients. Use products from reputable sources, and bring anything you are unsure of to your consultation.

How long do skin brightening results last?
Results hold with daily sunscreen, a gentle routine and maintenance every few months. Sun exposure, hormonal changes and melasma can bring unevenness back, so maintenance is part of the plan.
Read more: Skin Brightening Treatment Singapore
Can I combine skin brightening with skin boosters?
Often, yes. Many plans pair a tone step, such as laser toning, with a hydration step, such as a skin booster, because well-hydrated skin reflects light more evenly. The order and spacing are set so each step can be judged.
Read more: Skin Brightening Treatment Singapore
Can I wear make-up after skin brightening laser?
After laser toning, usually yes, later the same day once the pinkness has settled. After spot treatment, make-up can usually go over the darkened spots from the next day if the skin is intact. After a peel, wait until any stinging has stopped. Choose a gentle product, and remove it carefully without scrubbing.

Laser toning vs chemical peel for brightening: which suits me?
Toning breaks up excess pigment a little at a time with little downtime, so it suits diffuse uneven tone. A peel removes built-up surface cells, so it suits a rough, grey-looking surface and helps skincare work. Many plans alternate them, with strength and spacing chosen for your skin type. See laser toning vs chemical peel and chemical peels.

Is skin brightening treatment safe during pregnancy?
Most elective laser and injectable steps are deferred during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Gentle skincare and sun protection are the focus until afterwards, because pregnancy often brings melasma that can be treated later. Some ingredients, including certain prescription lightening creams and retinoids, are avoided. Bring your products to the consultation so they can be checked.

Can skin brightening help dark underarms?
Sometimes, once the cause is clear. Darker underarms can come from friction, shaving, deodorant irritation, humidity or insulin resistance, and the last needs a medical check. The cause is addressed first, and gentle laser or peels may then help. See underarm treatment in Singapore for the options.

Skin Care for Singapore Weather
Why is my skin oily but also flaky in Singapore?
Heat raises sebum output, while air-conditioning dries the outer skin layer. Using strong cleansers to control shine damages the barrier further, so the skin ends up shiny yet tight or flaky. Gentler cleansing and a light, barrier-supporting moisturiser often help both problems.
Read more: Skin Care for Singapore Weather
What SPF should I use in Singapore?
A broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, applied generously every morning and reapplied when you are outdoors for long periods. If you are prone to melasma or pigmentation, a tinted formula with iron oxides also helps against visible light.

How should I care for my skin during the haze?
Limit long periods outdoors when published readings are high, cleanse gently in the evening, use a barrier-supporting moisturiser and consider a topical antioxidant in the morning. Pause strong scrubs and acids until any redness or stinging settles. If your skin flares badly despite these steps, an assessment can help separate irritation from conditions such as rosacea or eczema.

Are the small itchy bumps on my forehead acne?
Not always. Small, uniform, itchy bumps on the forehead, chest or back in hot weather can be Malassezia folliculitis, which is driven by yeast and needs different treatment from acne. A doctor can usually tell the difference on examination. Sometimes a simple skin scraping or a short trial of treatment is used to confirm it.

Can I have laser treatment in Singapore’s sun?
Yes, with planning. The choice of laser, the settings and the aftercare all account for year-round UV, and daily sunscreen is part of the plan. People with darker skin or melasma are treated with particular care to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Read more: Skin Care for Singapore Weather
Does air-conditioning age skin?
Air-conditioning does not age skin in the way UV does, but it lowers humidity and can dehydrate the surface, making fine lines and dullness more noticeable. A good moisturiser and gentle cleansing usually offset this. Keeping the air-conditioning a little less cold at night and avoiding very hot showers can also help the skin hold on to water.

How much does treatment for climate-related skin problems cost?
It depends on the diagnosis, the treatment chosen, the number of sessions and whether skincare alone is enough. Some concerns settle with a better routine; others, such as melasma or acne scarring, need a course. Fees are explained after assessment, in writing.

When is haze season in Singapore?
Slight to moderate haze is most common during the Southwest Monsoon, from June to September, and can also occur when winds are light in the inter-monsoon months. Severe smoke haze varies from year to year, so check the published PSI and PM2.5 readings on haze days.

Is UV lower during the monsoon season in Singapore?
Cloud and rain lower the UV index for a while, but less than people expect, and on clearer days it still reaches the very high to extreme range around midday throughout the year. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is worth keeping up in every season.

Skin Type Quiz
Is the Fitzpatrick type the same as my skin colour?
Not exactly. It describes how your skin reacts to sun, which usually tracks with colour but not always. A doctor confirms it on examination.

Can darker skin have laser treatment?
Yes, with appropriate wavelengths such as 1064 nm, conservative settings and sometimes a test spot. The risk of temporary darkening is higher, so planning matters.

Why do I get dark marks after pimples?
Inflammation stimulates pigment cells, and skin types III and above make more pigment in response. These marks usually fade, faster with sun protection.

Should I still use sunscreen if I tan easily?
Yes. Ultraviolet exposure drives pigmentation and skin ageing in all skin types, and Singapore has a high UV index all year.

Sun Spots and Age Spots
What are sun spots?
Solar lentigines are discrete, bounded collections of pigment produced by cumulative ultraviolet exposure. Unlike melasma, they are stable and removable.
Read more: Sun Spots and Age Spots
How are sun spots told apart from similar conditions?
The distinction from melasma is the single most useful thing to establish. A lentigo has an edge you can trace; melasma has a patterned distribution that fades into surrounding skin. Treating melasma as a lentigo makes it worse.
Read more: Sun Spots and Age Spots
What is assessed before treating sun spots?
Border definition, symmetry, distribution across sun-exposed sites, Fitzpatrick type, and whether any lesion looks atypical.
Read more: Sun Spots and Age Spots
When is treatment deferred?
Any pigmented lesion with an irregular border, uneven colour or recent change is examined before it is treated as a sunspot.
Read more: Sun Spots and Age Spots
Are age spots dangerous?
Solar lentigines themselves are harmless. They do show that the skin has had significant sun exposure, which is linked to skin cancer risk, so they are a reason to look at the whole skin. Any spot that is changing, irregular in border or colour, or different from the others is examined before it is treated cosmetically.
Read more: Sun Spots and Age Spots
How many sessions do age spots need?
Many flat age spots lighten noticeably after one session; darker or larger ones may need two or three sessions about four to six weeks apart. Spots on the hands and body sometimes need more than those on the face. Dr Sin Yong gives an estimate after examining the spots.
Read more: Sun Spots and Age Spots
How much does age spot removal cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on the number and size of spots, the areas treated (face, hands or both), the laser chosen and how many sessions are likely. A few spots cost less to treat than a full face of sun damage. The plan and cost are explained after assessment at IN Eternity Clinic.
Read more: Sun Spots and Age Spots
Are sun spots the same as melasma?
No. Sun spots are individual, clearly edged spots. Melasma is a patchy, symmetrical pigment that blends into the skin and is treated more gently, because aggressive laser can worsen it.
Read more: Sun Spots and Age Spots
Can sun spots be treated if I also have melasma?
Often yes, but the plan changes. Melasma is brought under control first, laser energy is kept low, and spot treatment is kept away from melasma patches so the heat does not flare them.

T2 Frax Radiance
Can I go back to work the same day after T2 Frax Radiance?
Yes. Most people have redness for a few hours and can apply make-up later the same day or the next morning. If discrete sun spots are treated, they may darken and flake for several days, which is easy to cover. Retinoids and exfoliating acids are paused for the short period advised.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Will people notice I had a pico laser?
Usually not beyond a few hours of redness. Over a course, people tend to notice more even tone and smoother texture. If individual dark spots are targeted, they may look darker and flake for several days before clearing, so plan around important events if needed.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
What is a pico laser?
It is a laser whose pulses last picoseconds (trillionths of a second). The pulse ends before heat spreads, so pigment is broken up by a pressure wave rather than by heat. Lower heat matters for Asian skin, which is more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
What does T2 mean in T2 Frax Radiance?
Tone and Tighten. Tone uses picosecond pulses to break up pigment. Tighten uses a longer thermal pulse to prompt a collagen response in the dermis. The two steps act on different targets at different depths within one session.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Which laser is used for T2 Frax Radiance?
The DEKA TORO, a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with picosecond and nanosecond outputs at three wavelengths (785 nm picosecond; 532 nm and 1064 nm nanosecond), a long-pulse thermal mode and repetition rates up to 20 Hz.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Why is 785 nm used?
At 785 nm with picosecond pulses, the laser reaches both superficial and deeper pigment while leaving less heat behind. Many older laser settings were worked out on fairer skin; in Fitzpatrick III–V skin, common in Singapore, lower heat reduces the chance of triggering new pigment.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Pico laser vs Q-switched laser — what is the difference?
The difference is pulse length. Nanosecond pulses carry more heat with the pressure effect; picosecond pulses are about a thousand times shorter, so more of the action is mechanical. The TORO has both, so Dr Sin Yong can use either within the same session.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
What is T2 Frax Radiance used for?
Tone covers superficial and deeper pigment, sun-related pigment, melasma and marks left after inflammation. Tighten covers laxity and texture through a collagen response. The balance between them is set for each patient at IN Eternity Clinic after assessment.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Is it suitable for melasma?
Melasma needs particular care. It is a long-term condition that tends to recur, not a single mark to remove, and over-treating it can make it darker. Melasma plans are kept conservative and only start after an in-person assessment.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
What does pico laser feel like?
Most people feel a light, quick snapping on the skin. Sensitivity differs from person to person and across the face, and settings and comfort measures are adjusted during the session. Protective eyewear is worn throughout.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
How many pico laser sessions will I need?
That depends on what is being treated, so an honest number cannot be given before assessment. Superficial pigment, deeper pigment and melasma all respond on different timelines. Dr Sin Yong plans the course after seeing your skin rather than selling a fixed package.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
What does a pico laser cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on whether tone, tighten or both are planned, the presentation and pigment depth, and how many sessions the plan involves. Because the right approach differs between patients, a figure quoted before assessment would not be meaningful. Pricing is discussed at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
How does pico laser work?
A pico laser delivers pulses lasting about a trillionth of a second — short enough that the pulse ends before meaningful heat spreads into surrounding tissue. Instead of burning pigment, it generates a rapid pressure wave that fragments pigment particles mechanically, a photoacoustic effect. On the DEKA TORO platform used at IN Eternity Clinic, the 785 nm picosecond emission is suited to the pigment depths and skin types most common in Singapore.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
How often should you do pico laser?
Pico laser is delivered as a spaced course rather than a fixed schedule, because pigment in the epidermis behaves differently from pigment in the dermis, and melasma behaves differently again. The interval between sessions is planned individually at IN Eternity Clinic after in-person assessment.

Is the T2 Frax Radiance pico laser painful?

How long do results from the T2 Frax Radiance pico laser last?
Results from the T2 Frax Radiance pico laser build in the weeks after each session as the skin renews, and are commonly maintained with periodic treatment. The interval depends on your skin and concern, and is planned individually.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
How is T2 Frax Radiance different from laser toning?
Laser toning usually means repeated low-energy passes, often with a nanosecond Q-switched laser, to lighten pigment gradually. T2 Frax Radiance uses picosecond pulses for pigment and adds a separate thermal pulse for dermal collagen, so tone and texture are addressed in the same visit.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Is T2 Frax Radiance suitable for darker or tanned skin?
It can be, with care. Darker skin types carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, so energy is kept conservative, sessions are spaced, and recent tanning is a reason to wait. Sun protection between sessions is essential.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Can T2 Frax Radiance be done on the same day as a skin booster?
Often, yes. The laser is done first and the booster afterwards, so the injection points are not exposed to laser heat. Whether to combine them on one day depends on your skin and is decided at assessment.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
How soon will I see results from T2 Frax Radiance?
Distinct spots usually darken and flake within the first week, then lighten over the following weeks as fragments are cleared. The collagen response from the Tighten step builds more slowly, over several weeks. Most people judge the change across a course rather than after one session, and progress is reviewed against baseline photographs.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Does T2 Frax Radiance help acne marks?
It can help the flat brown marks left after acne, once active acne is controlled, because those marks are pigment that the Tone step can break up. Red marks and depressed scars are different problems: red marks respond better to vascular approaches such as the 675 nm 少女光 laser, and scars to resurfacing or subcision.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
Can T2 Frax Radiance treat the neck or hands?
Sometimes. Sun spots on the hands and uneven tone on the neck can be treated, but the skin there is thinner and heals more slowly than the face, so settings are gentler and crusts can last longer. Whether these areas are suitable, and which step is used, is decided at assessment.
Read more: T2 Frax Radiance
What should I avoid before T2 Frax Radiance?
Avoid tanning and long midday sun for about two weeks beforehand, and pause retinoids and exfoliating acids for the few days advised. Tell the clinic about cold sores, new medicines or recent treatments such as skin boosters. If you have an event, book at least a week or two ahead in case spots flake.

Tattoo Regret Singapore
What is tattoo regret?
Tattoo ink sits as particles in the dermis, engulfed by cells that cannot break them down. Removal means fragmenting particles small enough for the body to clear.
Read more: Tattoo Regret Singapore
How is tattoo regret told apart from similar conditions?
Black and dark blue absorb 1064 nm well; red responds to 532 nm; green and light blue need other wavelengths entirely. A clinic with one wavelength can only clear some of a multicoloured tattoo.
Read more: Tattoo Regret Singapore
What is assessed before treating tattoo regret?
Ink colours present, depth and density, age of the tattoo, amateur or professional, prior removal attempts, and Fitzpatrick type.

When is treatment deferred?
Some pigments — particularly certain whites, greens and cosmetic inks — respond poorly or can darken. That is said before starting, not after.

Can a tattoo be completely removed?
Many tattoos can be faded until they are hard to see, but complete removal is not certain. Dense professional work, some colours and some cosmetic inks may leave a faint shadow or change colour. This is assessed before the first session.
Read more: Tattoo Regret Singapore
Why are tattoo removal sessions spaced so far apart?
Because most of the fading happens between sessions, as immune cells carry away the shattered ink. Treating again too soon adds risk to the skin without speeding that clearance.

Tattoo Removal Cost Singapore
How much does tattoo removal cost in Singapore?
Each session is priced by the area treated, and the total depends on how many sessions the tattoo needs. Size, colours, density, age, location and skin type all affect that number. At IN Eternity Clinic, Dr Sin Yong assesses the tattoo and gives a written quote with a per-session cost and an estimated range.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Cost Singapore
How many sessions will my tattoo need?
It varies widely. Small, older, black amateur tattoos may need fewer; large, dense, multicoloured professional tattoos may need many more. An estimate is given after assessment and refined as the tattoo responds over the first sessions. The estimate is written into the plan.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Cost Singapore
Is pico laser tattoo removal more expensive?
Per session it may be, because picosecond platforms cost more to run. It may also shorten the course for some inks. Whether it is better value depends on your tattoo, which is assessed before the quote. Both pulse types are available at IN Eternity Clinic.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Cost Singapore
Why do coloured tattoos cost more to remove?
Different colours absorb different wavelengths, so multicoloured tattoos need more than one wavelength and often more sessions. Green, blue-green, yellow and white inks are among the hardest to clear. Black usually responds most readily, and a single-colour black tattoo is often the simplest to plan.

Can eyebrow embroidery be removed, and what does it cost?
Often, yes. Some cosmetic inks darken with laser, so a test area is treated first. The cost depends on the area, ink response and number of sessions, and is quoted after the test area has been assessed. Results with cosmetic inks are less predictable.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Cost Singapore
How far apart are sessions?
Usually several weeks, to let the skin heal and the body clear fragmented ink. Treating too often does not speed up removal and raises the risk of skin injury. The spacing is stated in the written plan. Several weeks is typical.

Will tattoo removal leave a scar?
The risk is low with appropriate settings and good aftercare, but blistering, texture change and pigment change can occur. These risks are higher with aggressive settings or poor aftercare, and are explained at consultation. Aftercare instructions are given in writing after each session.

Can I go back to work the same day after tattoo removal?
Yes, in most cases. The treated area is covered with a dressing and may be red, swollen or blistered for a few days. If it is on a visible area such as the hand or neck, you may want to keep it covered. Avoid swimming, saunas and heavy friction on the area until it has healed.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Singapore
Can I get a new tattoo over the area later?
Often, yes. Some people fade an old tattoo so a cover-up design works better. The skin should be fully healed, and most tattoo artists prefer to wait some weeks after the last laser session. Discuss your plans at consultation so the number of fading sessions can be planned around them.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Singapore
How long should I wait between tattoo removal sessions?
Usually six to eight weeks, sometimes longer. The body clears ink fragments slowly between sessions and the skin needs to heal fully, so shorter gaps do not speed the result and can raise the risk of skin changes.

Why does the tattoo turn white during laser treatment?
The white frosting is gas released in the skin as the ink absorbs the pulse. It is expected and fades within about 20 minutes. It is not a sign of a burn.

Is picosecond laser better than Q-switched for tattoo removal?
They work differently rather than one being better for every tattoo. Picosecond pulses can break ink into finer fragments with less heat, while Q-switched pulses remain useful for some inks. IN Eternity Clinic has both, and the choice is made per tattoo and per colour.

Can a cover-up tattoo be removed?
Often it can be faded, but layered tattoos carry more ink at different depths and usually need more sessions. Mixed colours from the original and the cover-up may respond at different rates.

Can tattoo removal cause an allergic reaction?
It is uncommon, but if you have had itching, swelling or raised areas in a tattoo, particularly red ink, mention it. Ink fragments released by the laser can trigger a reaction in people already sensitised, so the plan is adjusted or a test area is used first.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Singapore
Is tattoo removal safe for darker skin?
It can be done with care. The 1064 nm wavelength is absorbed less by skin pigment, settings are more conservative, and sun protection afterwards matters. Temporary lightening or darkening of the skin is possible and is discussed before treatment.

Can I exercise after tattoo removal?
Light activity is usually fine the next day, but heavy sweating, contact sports and anything that rubs the area should be avoided until blisters and scabs have settled, often about a week. Swimming pools, the sea, saunas and hot tubs should wait until the skin has fully healed, because soaking raises the risk of infection.

Will tattoo removal leave a ghost image?
Sometimes. A faint outline can remain even after most of the ink has gone, either from residual ink or from slight lightening or darkening of the skin where the tattoo was. Skin colour changes usually fade over months. Whether further sessions would help is judged at review rather than assumed.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Singapore
Can I have tattoo removal while pregnant?
Elective tattoo removal is usually deferred during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This is a precaution: the ink fragments released are cleared through the body, and there is little safety information for this period. Treatment can be planned after you have finished breastfeeding, and the tattoo will not change while you wait.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Singapore
How soon will I see a tattoo fade?
Some lightening may be visible once the skin has healed after the first session, but most fading happens gradually in the weeks between sessions as immune cells carry ink away. Black amateur tattoos often fade sooner than dense professional or multicoloured ones. Progress is compared with photographs at each review on the pico laser platforms.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Singapore
Do tattoo removal creams work?
No cream has been shown to remove tattoo ink safely. Tattoo ink sits in the dermis, below the reach of creams; products that work at all do so by burning the skin, which risks scarring and colour change. Laser breaks the ink into fragments without breaking the surface, which is why it is the usual method.

Does the skin heal normally after tattoo removal?
Usually, yes. Redness, swelling and sometimes blisters settle over days to a couple of weeks, and the skin texture generally returns to normal between sessions. Lighter or darker patches can follow, particularly in darker skin, and usually fade over months. Scarring is uncommon and is more likely if blisters are picked or sessions are too close together.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Singapore
How many sessions are needed to fade a tattoo for a cover-up?
Often fewer than for full removal, because the aim is to lighten the old design enough that the new one covers it. The number depends on the ink and the new design, and is agreed with your tattoo artist and the doctor. The fading is reviewed at each visit until the artist is satisfied.

Can white or skin-coloured tattoo ink be removed?
Sometimes, but cautiously. White, flesh, pink and some brown inks may contain titanium dioxide or iron oxide, which can turn darker when hit by laser. A small test area is treated first and reviewed before the rest. If the ink darkens, it can usually be treated further as a dark ink, but the course becomes longer.
Read more: Tattoo Removal Singapore
Why is my tattoo raised and itchy after laser?
Some swelling, raised skin and itch for a few days after a session is expected as the skin reacts to the ink fragments. Cool compresses and the aftercare cream usually help. Itch, raised skin or a rash that persists for weeks, or appears mainly in one colour such as red, may be an ink reaction and should be reviewed.

Types of Pigmentation in Asian Skin, Compared
What are the different types of pigmentation?
The common types on the face are melasma, freckles, solar lentigines (sun spots or age spots), Hori’s naevus (ABNOM), post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and naevus of Ota. They differ in how they look, how deep they sit and what drives them, which is why each needs a different plan.
Read more: Types of Pigmentation in Asian Skin, Compared
Is Hori’s naevus the same as melasma?
No. Melasma is mostly surface brown patching driven by light, heat and hormones; Hori’s naevus is deeper, grey-brown speckled pigment from cells in the dermis. They often appear together on the cheeks, which is why the type is confirmed at examination before any laser is chosen.
Read more: Types of Pigmentation in Asian Skin, Compared
What does ABNOM stand for?
ABNOM stands for acquired bilateral naevus of Ota-like macules. It is the same condition as Hori’s naevus: grey-brown speckles, usually on both cheekbones, that appear in the late teens to thirties, mostly in East Asian women. It is treated with a spaced course of laser.
Read more: Types of Pigmentation in Asian Skin, Compared
Which type of pigmentation is hardest to treat?
Melasma is usually the hardest to keep away, because it is driven by light, heat and hormones and tends to return; it is controlled rather than removed. Deep pigment such as Hori’s naevus and naevus of Ota responds to laser but needs more sessions spaced further apart.
Read more: Types of Pigmentation in Asian Skin, Compared
Can pigmentation in Asian skin be removed completely?
Some types can clear well: freckles and sun spots often lighten markedly with spot laser, though new ones form without sun protection. Hori’s naevus can lighten substantially over a course. Melasma can be lightened and controlled but tends to recur, so results vary between people and are reviewed over months.

Why did my pigmentation get darker after laser?
Darkening after laser is usually post-inflammatory pigmentation, from energy that was too high for skin that tans readily, or melasma reacting to heat. It usually fades over weeks to months with sun protection and time. Choosing the type first and keeping settings cautious lowers the risk.
Read more: Types of Pigmentation in Asian Skin, Compared
How can I tell if my pigmentation is deep?
Colour is the first clue: deep pigment looks grey, slate or blue-brown rather than brown, and it changes little with lightening creams. Dermoscopy at an examination helps confirm the depth. A brown, sharp-edged spot is usually surface pigment; grey speckles on both cheekbones suggest Hori’s naevus.
Read more: Types of Pigmentation in Asian Skin, Compared
Does sunscreen help every type of pigmentation?
Yes, though in different ways. It slows new freckles and sun spots, is essential for controlling melasma, and helps post-inflammatory marks fade. It does not lighten deep dermal pigment such as Hori’s naevus, but it protects the skin during and after laser treatment, when darkening is more likely.

Underarm Whitening Singapore
Can I wear sleeveless clothes and deodorant after treatment?
Sleeveless clothing is fine and loose tops are more comfortable than tight ones. Deodorant and antiperspirant are usually avoided for about 24 hours, then a gentle, fragrance-free product can be resumed once the skin is calm. Sun exposure on the treated area should be limited during the course.
Read more: Underarm Whitening Singapore
Can I go back to work the same day after underarm laser?
Yes. The treated area is covered by clothing, and redness usually settles within a few hours. Avoid heavy exercise, saunas and anything that causes friction or heavy sweating for a day or two, as advised at your visit. Most people schedule sessions around a normal working day.

Does underarm whitening work?
It can, when the cause is post-inflammatory pigment and the driver is removed. Picosecond laser reduces excess pigment over a course, and stopping friction and shaving irritation keeps it from returning. It aims for your own natural tone, not a lighter-than-natural colour.

Can laser hair removal lighten dark underarms?
Often, yes. Shaving and waxing irritate the skin and leave a grey shadow of hair beneath it. Once hair is reduced and shaving stops, many people find their underarms lighten. It is often combined with pigment treatment.
Read more: Underarm Whitening Singapore
Are whitening creams safe for the underarms?
Some are too harsh for a skin fold. Strong bleaching or peeling products can irritate the underarm and make post-inflammatory darkening worse. Gentle, supervised creams used for a limited time are safer, alongside removing the cause.

Can dark underarms be a sign of diabetes?
Sometimes. Velvety, thickened darkening of the underarms and neck, called acanthosis nigricans, is linked with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. If the pattern suggests it, a blood test such as HbA1c is advised before any cosmetic treatment.

Why are my underarms dark?
Underarm darkening is most often post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: melanin produced in response to repeated irritation. Friction from clothing, shaving and waxing, deodorant sensitivity and heat are the usual drivers. Less commonly, darkening reflects acanthosis nigricans, which presents as velvety thickened skin and warrants medical assessment.
Read more: Underarm Whitening Singapore
Can underarm pigmentation be treated?
Post-inflammatory pigmentation in the underarm can be addressed, but the mechanical drivers need attention alongside it. Treating the pigment while friction, shaving irritation or product sensitivity continues produces a result that does not hold.
Read more: Underarm Whitening Singapore
What is acanthosis nigricans?
Acanthosis nigricans is darkening accompanied by a velvety, thickened skin texture, often extending to the neck and other flexural areas. It can be associated with insulin resistance and other endocrine conditions, which is why it calls for medical investigation rather than a cosmetic protocol.

Does shaving cause dark underarms?
Shaving and waxing contribute through repeated irritation of the skin, which drives melanin production. The hair itself sitting just below the surface can also darken the appearance. Reviewing the hair removal method is part of addressing the pigment.

What does underarm pigmentation treatment cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on the cause identified, the depth of pigment involved and how the plan is staged. Because the appropriate approach differs between presentations, a figure given before assessment would not be meaningful. Pricing is discussed at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic.
Read more: Underarm Whitening Singapore
Will the pigmentation come back?
If the drivers continue, pigment production continues. This is why assessment covers hair removal method, clothing friction and product sensitivity alongside the pigment itself, and why those elements form part of the plan.

Is underarm pigmentation treatment painful?
Comfort depends on the specific approach used for underarm pigmentation treatment; laser and energy-based treatments are managed with cooling and adjustable settings, and numbing can be applied where helpful. What to expect is explained beforehand at IN Eternity Clinic.

How many sessions of underarm pigmentation treatment will I need?
Underarm pigmentation treatment is usually delivered as a spaced course, with the number of sessions depending on the presentation and its depth. Your plan is set at consultation by Medical Director Dr Sin Yong.

How long do results from underarm pigmentation treatment last?
Results from underarm pigmentation treatment build progressively and are maintained over time, with the pattern depending on the cause and its depth. What to expect is discussed as part of your plan.

Is underarm laser safe for darker skin?
It can be, with care. Darker skin is more prone to post-inflammatory darkening, so picosecond settings are kept conservative, sessions are spaced out, and friction and irritation are reduced alongside. A test area may be done first. The aim is to return the underarm towards your own skin tone, not to make it lighter than the surrounding skin.

How soon will I see results from underarm pigmentation treatment?
Some lightening may be noticed after a few sessions, but change is gradual and is judged against the baseline photographs over the course. Results depend heavily on whether the driver, such as shaving, friction or a deodorant, has been removed; if it continues, pigment tends to return. Response varies between people.

Can dark inner thighs or neck be treated the same way?
Often, after assessment. Dark inner thighs are usually from friction and respond to similar principles: reduce rubbing, then treat the pigment gently. A dark, velvety neck can be acanthosis nigricans, which is a reason to check blood sugar and weight-related factors before any cosmetic plan. Each area is examined separately.

Do I need to stop shaving before underarm treatment?
You do not need to grow the hair out, but avoid shaving, waxing or plucking for a few days before each session so the skin is not freshly irritated. Waxing in particular is paused during the course. Many people move to laser hair removal, which reduces the shaving that often drives the darkening.

Do home remedies such as lemon or baking soda lighten underarms?
They are not recommended. Lemon juice is acidic and baking soda is abrasive and alkaline; in a warm, rubbed skin fold both often irritate, and irritation is one of the main causes of underarm darkening in the first place. There is no good evidence that they lighten pigment. Gentle care and treating the cause work better.

Is pico laser the same as IPL for underarms?
No. Picosecond laser delivers one wavelength in extremely short pulses that break up pigment with little heat. IPL is a broad flash of light with more heat, which in darker skin can cause pigment change. For dark underarms in Asian skin, low-energy picosecond laser is the usual choice at IN Eternity Clinic.

Can deodorant cause dark underarms?
It can. Fragranced deodorants and some antiperspirants irritate the skin, and repeated irritation leaves pigment behind, especially in darker skin. If a product stings or itches, stop it. Switching to a fragrance-free product is often part of the plan, and a reaction may be checked as contact dermatitis.

Are underarm whitening creams bought online safe?
Some are not. Singapore authorities have warned about whitening products found to contain undeclared mercury or potent steroids, which can harm the skin and the body. Use only products you can trace, and ideally ones prescribed after assessment. Stop any cream that stings, thins the skin or causes spots.

When Pigmentation Creams Stop Working
Why has my pigmentation cream stopped working?
Common reasons are that the remaining pigment sits too deep for creams to reach, triggers such as sun, heat or hormones are still active, the routine is irritating the skin and causing new marks, or the pigment is a different type from what you assumed. A medical assessment identifies which applies.
Read more: When Pigmentation Creams Stop Working
Can creams remove Hori’s macules?
Usually not. Hori’s macules sit in the dermis, below the level most brightening ingredients act on. They are typically treated with a series of pigment-laser sessions spaced well apart, with topical care and sun protection to support the result. Temporary darkening after sessions is common and is planned for.

Is hydroquinone safe?
Hydroquinone is an effective prescription medicine when used at an appropriate strength for a limited period under a doctor’s supervision. Long, unsupervised use, especially of high strengths or unregistered products, can cause irritation and exogenous ochronosis, a blue-grey darkening that is difficult to treat. In Singapore it is not permitted in cosmetic products and is supplied on prescription.

How do I know if a lightening cream is safe?
Buy from reputable sources, check the full ingredient list, and be cautious of products promising rapid or dramatic whitening, unlabelled jars, or creams bought abroad or online. HSA publishes warnings about products found to contain mercury, hydroquinone or steroids. If in doubt, stop and show it to a doctor.

Is laser better than cream for pigmentation?
They do different jobs. Lasers can break up pigment, including deeper pigment, that creams cannot reach. Creams control pigment production and maintain results. Most plans that work well use both, with sun protection, and the balance depends on the diagnosis and how your skin responds over the first few months.

How much does in-clinic pigmentation treatment cost?
It depends on the type of pigment, the area, the laser or treatment chosen, the number of sessions, and any prescription topical or oral medicine. A written estimate is given after assessment so you can see the whole plan, including maintenance, before deciding.
Read more: When Pigmentation Creams Stop Working
Can pigmentation come back after laser?
Yes, particularly melasma and sun-induced pigment, if triggers continue. Daily sun protection, a maintenance skincare routine and occasional maintenance sessions help keep it under control. Melasma in particular is a chronic condition that is managed rather than cured, so a plan for the sunny months and for holidays is part of the conversation.

YAG Laser Singapore
Is a YAG laser the same as a pico laser?
Not exactly. A pico laser is defined by its very short picosecond pulse; many pico lasers use the Nd:YAG wavelengths of 1064 and 532 nm. A YAG laser can also run in Q-switched (nanosecond) or long-pulsed (millisecond) modes, which do quite different jobs.
Read more: YAG Laser Singapore
What is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser?
It is an Nd:YAG laser that releases energy in very short, intense nanosecond pulses. These shatter pigment and ink with limited heat. At low energy over the whole face it is used for laser toning; at higher energy on small areas it treats spots and tattoos.
Read more: YAG Laser Singapore
Is the YAG laser safe for dark skin?
The 1064 nm wavelength is the one most often chosen for darker skin because surface melanin absorbs it less. It still needs conservative settings, proper intervals and sun protection, because over-treatment can cause darkening or white spots.

Does YAG laser treatment hurt?
Most people describe quick snapping or warm prickling. Laser toning is gentle; targeted pigment and tattoo treatment feels sharper; hair removal on the Clarity II uses integrated cooling. Numbing cream can be used where needed.

Does IN Eternity Clinic do the YAG laser for eyes after cataract surgery?
No. A YAG capsulotomy is an eye procedure performed by an ophthalmologist. IN Eternity Clinic uses Nd:YAG lasers for skin and hair only, so please see an eye specialist for that treatment.

What is the difference between Nd:YAG and Er:YAG?
Nd:YAG emits 1064 nm light that passes deep into the skin and targets pigment, ink or hair follicles. Er:YAG emits 2940 nm light that is absorbed by water at the surface and removes skin layer by layer. They are different lasers for different purposes.
Read more: YAG Laser Singapore
How long is the downtime after YAG laser?
For laser toning, usually a few hours of mild redness. After targeted pigment treatment, small spots may darken and flake over about a week. After laser hair removal, redness and small bumps around follicles usually settle within a day or two.
Read more: YAG Laser Singapore
How soon will I see results after YAG laser?
It depends on the mode. Toning gives a gradual change that builds across a course. Discrete spots usually darken and flake within a week, then lighten over the following weeks. After hair removal, treated hairs shed over one to three weeks, and reduction becomes clearer after several sessions because hair grows in cycles.
Read more: YAG Laser Singapore
Can I wear make-up after YAG laser?
After toning, usually later the same day or the next morning. After spot treatment, make-up can usually go over darkened spots from the next day if the skin is not broken. After hair removal on the face, wait until any redness or bumps have settled. Remove make-up gently and keep sunscreen on underneath.

YAG laser vs IPL: what is the difference?
A YAG laser emits a single 1064 nm wavelength, or 532 nm when frequency-doubled, in precise pulses. IPL is broad-spectrum flashed light, filtered to target pigment or vessels, and is absorbed more by surface melanin, so it is used more cautiously in darker skin. They are different tools, and the choice follows the diagnosis.
Read more: YAG Laser Singapore
Can a YAG laser remove moles?
A pigment laser is not used to remove moles. Moles are nests of pigment cells, and lasering one can destroy the pigment needed for diagnosis while leaving cells behind. A mole that bothers you, or one that is changing, is examined first and removed by a suitable method where appropriate. See mole removal in Singapore.
Read more: YAG Laser Singapore
How often can I have YAG laser toning?
Toning is usually spaced one to a few weeks apart as a planned course, followed by maintenance at longer intervals. Having it more often, or continuing indefinitely, raises the risk of pale spots in Asian skin rather than speeding results; the reasons are set out in pico vs Q-switched vs laser toning.
Read more: YAG Laser Singapore
Can a YAG laser help acne or oily skin?
In a supporting role. The carbon laser peel uses Q-switched Nd:YAG to heat and disperse a thin carbon layer, which can reduce oiliness and help congested pores for a while. Active acne still needs medical treatment, and the marks it leaves are treated once it has settled. See carbon laser peel.

Yellow Laser vs Pico vs Laser Toning
Does IN Eternity Clinic offer yellow laser?
No. Yellow laser is described on this page for comparison. For redness the clinic uses the 675 nm 少女光 laser, the Triple Hydrating LDM facial and medical rosacea care; for pigment it uses pico laser and laser toning.
Read more: Yellow Laser vs Pico vs Laser Toning
Is yellow laser better than pico laser?
Neither is better in general; they target different things. Yellow laser is absorbed mainly by blood vessels and is used for redness. Pico laser breaks up pigment and is used for brown spots. The concern decides which kind of laser fits.

Can yellow laser treat melasma?
Small studies in Asian patients report improvement in melasma with copper bromide yellow laser, on the rationale that melasma skin has more small vessels. Melasma still needs sun protection and medical skincare, and it tends to return after any procedure.

Which laser helps facial redness?
Vascular lasers such as yellow, pulsed dye and KTP lasers, and the 675 nm laser, act on the vascular part of redness. The cause matters first: rosacea, a damaged barrier, red acne marks and visible vessels each need a different plan.
Read more: Yellow Laser vs Pico vs Laser Toning
Is laser toning the same as pico laser?
No. Laser toning passes a low-energy Q-switched 1064 nm laser over the whole face many times across a course. Pico laser uses picosecond pulses, often aimed at specific spots. Both target pigment; toning is gentler per session.
Read more: Yellow Laser vs Pico vs Laser Toning
Which laser gives the skin a glow?
It depends on why the skin looks dull. Redness, uneven pigment, rough texture and dehydration each answer to a different treatment. Working out which one dominates comes before choosing a laser.

Can pico laser and a redness laser be combined?
Often, yes, because red and brown marks commonly sit side by side after acne. They are usually sequenced rather than done at full strength on the same day, and the order is set at assessment.
Read more: Yellow Laser vs Pico vs Laser Toning
Is there downtime after yellow laser?
Usually redness and mild swelling for hours to a few days, sometimes small crusts over treated vessels. A tan or darker skin raises the risk of darkening, so sun protection in the weeks around treatment matters.
