What changes the cost of HRT
- Preparation: patches and gels are often priced differently from tablets; combined products differ from separate oestrogen and progestogen.

Is vaginal oestrogen cheaper than HRT?
Usually, because it is a small local dose used at a maintenance frequency, so a pack lasts some time, and it does not need the same monitoring as systemic therapy. It treats only the vaginal and urinary symptoms, so it is not a substitute for HRT when hot flushes or bone protection are the issue.
Can an aesthetic doctor prescribe HRT?
Systemic HRT is best managed by a gynaecologist or a doctor who runs a menopause service, because it involves ongoing monitoring. A doctor with obstetrics and gynaecology training can assess and prescribe low-dose vaginal oestrogen for local symptoms and refer for the wider review.
Does insurance cover HRT in Singapore?
