Sagging has more than one source. Establishing whether the slack is skin, fat or support determines whether tightening will do anything at all.
Book an assessment →Skin laxity is sagging that can come from four layers: thinner skin, weaker ligaments, shrinking or descending fat, and bone loss. Skin tightening only helps the collagen part, so the first step is working out which layer is responsible. Mild to moderate laxity may respond to energy-based tightening; marked laxity may need a surgical opinion. See skin tightening in Singapore.
Laxity arises from dermal collagen loss, weakening of the retaining ligaments, descent and deflation of fat compartments, and underlying bone resorption.
Skin excess, volume loss and ligament descent look similar in a mirror and respond to entirely different interventions. Tightening skin that is not the problem is the commonest wasted treatment in aesthetics.
Which layer is contributing and in what proportion, photodamage, skin thickness, and prior treatment.
Energy-based tightening addresses the collagen component, including VF Lift – Vertical Facelift where descent is the issue. Where volume dominates, tightening alone will disappoint — and that is said at assessment.
Significant laxity may be beyond what non-surgical treatment can address. Saying so is a legitimate outcome.
The assessment works through each layer: skin quality, fat position and volume, ligament support and bone. The plan follows the main contributor rather than a favourite device.
Where the skin and its collagen are the problem, energy-based tightening is used: monopolar radiofrequency in IN Eternity's VF Lift – Vertical Facelift on Volnewmer, focused ultrasound such as Ultherapy or HIFU, or Thermage. Where volume loss dominates, biostimulators or filler restore support; where descent dominates, threads may help. These options are compared on skin tightening in Singapore.
Tightening works through new collagen, so change builds over about three to six months after a session and is judged against photographs. Results vary between people and are maintained with periodic sessions, because ageing continues. If the honest assessment is that non-surgical treatment will not meet the goal, that is said at the first visit.

Collagen production starts to decline from the mid-twenties, but visible laxity usually appears from the late thirties onwards. Sun exposure, genetics, weight change and smoking make it earlier or more marked.
It can improve mild to moderate laxity by tightening and rebuilding collagen, and by restoring lost support. It does not match the change of a surgical facelift, and large amounts of excess skin need a surgical opinion.

Every assessment at IN Eternity Clinic is carried out personally by Medical Director Dr Sin Yong at 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza. If the honest answer is that treatment should wait, you will be told that.
