All four Rejuran formulations carry polynucleotide purified from salmon DNA. Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic on Orchard Road explains how concentration, thickness and added ingredients decide where each one goes.
WhatsApp to Enquire →Key facts ↓Rejuran Healer, HB, S and i all contain polynucleotide (PN) from purified salmon DNA. Healer is the standard 2% gel for overall skin quality. HB adds hyaluronic acid and lidocaine for hydration and comfort. S is a more viscous gel placed into individual acne scars. Rejuran i, or Rejuran Eye, is a thinner 1% formulation for delicate under-eye skin.
Rejuran is made by PharmaResearch in Korea. Every product in the range is built on the same active ingredient: polynucleotide, long chains of DNA building blocks extracted from salmon and purified to remove proteins that could provoke a reaction. Once injected into the dermis, the gel holds water and is thought to support the fibroblasts that maintain collagen and the surrounding matrix. Laboratory work on the shorter-fragment form, PDRN, shows activity at adenosine A2A receptors, which are involved in repair and in damping inflammation.
That shared base is why all four formulations are skin-quality treatments rather than shaping ones. None of them adds volume or lifts. What differs is concentration, thickness, syringe size and, in one case, added ingredients. Those differences decide how deep the product goes, how much spreads from each injection point and which area it is made for. Choosing the formulation is therefore a question about the skin in front of the doctor, not about which version is newer.

| Formulation | What is different | Usual focus |
|---|---|---|
| Rejuran Healer | PN 2%, 2 ml syringe | Whole-face texture, fine lines, dullness, resilience |
| Rejuran HB | PN with hyaluronic acid and lidocaine | Skin quality where dryness is also a concern; comfort |
| Rejuran S | Same PN concentration, more viscous, 1 ml | Individual depressed acne scars |
| Rejuran i (Eye) | PN 1%, thinner and more liquid, 1 ml | Crepey lower eyelid and crow’s feet |
The concentrations and syringe sizes above follow the manufacturer’s descriptions. Product names and formulations vary between markets and change over time, so the vial or syringe label is checked against HSA registration before use, as with every injectable at IN Eternity Clinic.
“The question is not which Rejuran is strongest. It is which layer of skin, in which area, and whether polynucleotide is the right tool at all.”
Rejuran Healer is the original formulation and the one most people mean when they say “Rejuran”. It is placed as many small, shallow deposits across the cheeks, forehead, jawline and sometimes the neck. It suits skin that looks thin, tired or reactive, skin that marks easily after acne, and skin that has become fragile after repeated lasers or harsh actives. The change is gradual and is judged after a course, typically three sessions a few weeks apart.
Rejuran HB keeps the polynucleotide and adds hyaluronic acid, which binds water in the dermis, together with lidocaine to make the injections more comfortable. It tends to be considered where dehydration and fine surface lines are as prominent as fragility, or for people who find Healer injections hard to tolerate. The trade-off is that the added hyaluronic acid can make early puffiness slightly more noticeable for a day in some people. Where hydration is the main problem and repair is secondary, a hyaluronic acid booster or Profhilo may be the more direct choice; the Rejuran vs Profhilo vs Juvelook guide sets out that decision.

Rejuran S carries the same concentration of polynucleotide as Healer but as a thicker gel in a smaller syringe. Instead of being spread across the face, it is placed directly beneath individual depressed scars, a few at a time. The thicker gel stays where it is put, which is the point: the aim is to support repair of the scarred dermis under each scar rather than to improve the whole face evenly. A small randomised study of highly purified polynucleotide in moderate to severe acne scars reported improvement over placebo, but the evidence base is still modest.
Rejuran S works on the skin under a scar; it does not cut the fibrous bands that tether rolling scars or resurface the sharp edges of boxcar scars. Deep or mixed scarring usually needs subcision and fractional resurfacing such as S3 Resurfacing on the DEKA Tetra PRO, with Rejuran S as one supporting layer. Skin boosters for acne scars explains where boosters help and where they do not.
The lower eyelid has some of the thinnest skin on the body, and anything placed too superficially or in too large a bolus shows as a ridge or bump. Rejuran i is made more liquid and at half the concentration for that reason. It is used for crepey, finely lined skin under the eyes and at the crow’s feet, where the problem is skin quality rather than volume.
It is important to be clear about what Rejuran Eye does not do. It does not fill a tear-trough hollow, reduce a fat pad that bulges into an eye bag, or remove brown pigment. If the darkness under your eyes is a shadow from a hollow, a different approach is needed; under-eye filler vs Rejuran Eye explains how the cause is worked out, and Rejuran Eye in Singapore covers the treatment in more detail.
The choice starts with the examination, not the brand. Dr Sin Yong looks at skin thickness, texture, how quickly the skin recovers when pinched, scar type and the under-eye area separately. A common plan uses Healer across the face and i under the eyes in the same session, because the two areas need different products. Scarred cheeks may have Healer across the face with S placed into the scars, or S alone as part of a staged scar plan.
Rejuran is often combined with other treatments, but timing matters. Energy-based treatments and resurfacing are usually spaced from injections so that swelling from one does not hide the effect of the other. Where the concern is sagging rather than skin quality, polynucleotides are not the tool, and lifting is discussed instead. Another polynucleotide range, Plinest, works in a similar way; Plinest vs Rejuran compares them.
Skin type also shapes the choice. Darker or easily irritated skin that marks after lasers is often prepared with polynucleotide before resurfacing, because a calmer, better-supported dermis tends to recover more predictably. Very oily, thick skin with large pores may gain more from a collagen-stimulating booster or energy treatment, with polynucleotide used selectively. Where the skin is mainly dehydrated, a hyaluronic acid booster may do the job more directly.
Whichever formulation is used, polynucleotide works through the skin’s own response, so a single session is rarely judged on its own. A typical course is around three sessions, three to four weeks apart, with photographs in standard light at the first visit for comparison. Scar plans run longer and are interleaved with subcision or resurfacing. After the course, maintenance is usually every few months, decided by how your skin holds the change rather than by a fixed calendar.
Each visit starts with a short review. If the skin has responded well in one area and less in another, the formulation or the amount in each zone can be adjusted. If a concern turns out to be volume or sagging rather than skin quality, the plan changes direction rather than adding more syringes of the same product.
Small raised bumps along the injection points are expected after Healer and S and usually settle within hours to a day or two. Redness, mild swelling and pinpoint bruises are common. Lumps that persist, infection and allergic reactions are uncommon but possible, so the skin is cleaned carefully and any concerns after treatment are reviewed promptly. The Rejuran downtime and aftercare guide goes through the first two weeks day by day.
Because every formulation is derived from salmon, a history of fish allergy or a previous reaction to injectables is discussed before treatment, and in some cases Rejuran is not advised. Treatment is deferred during pregnancy and breastfeeding, over active acne cysts or infection, and during a flare of eczema or rosacea in the area. Rejuran HB contains lidocaine, so any history of reaction to local anaesthetic is checked.
Both contain polynucleotide. Rejuran HB adds hyaluronic acid, which binds water in the skin, and lidocaine, a local anaesthetic that makes the injections more comfortable. Healer is the standard formulation for overall skin quality; HB is considered where dryness and fine lines are prominent or comfort is a priority. Which suits you is decided after Dr Sin Yong examines your skin.
Rejuran S is designed for scars: it is a thicker gel placed beneath individual depressed scars, where it stays put. Healer is spread across the face for general skin quality. Many scar plans use both. Deeper rolling, boxcar or icepick scars still need subcision or resurfacing, because polynucleotide does not release tethering or reshape scar edges.
Rejuran i is the under-eye formulation, often called Rejuran Eye. It contains polynucleotide at half the concentration of Healer in a more liquid gel, which spreads more evenly in thin eyelid skin and is less likely to show as bumps. It improves crepey texture and fine lines, but it does not fill hollows or reduce eye bags.
Yes. A common plan is Rejuran Healer across the face and Rejuran i under the eyes in the same visit, because the two areas need different textures. Rejuran S may be added into individual scars. The total amount and the areas are agreed at consultation, and the plan is reviewed before each later session.
A typical course is around three sessions spaced three to four weeks apart, followed by maintenance every few months if you are pleased with the change. Scars may need more sessions as part of a wider plan. The number varies with your skin, age and goals, and progress is reviewed at each visit rather than fixed in advance.
Cost depends on which formulation is used, how many syringes your areas need, how many sessions the course runs to and whether Rejuran is part of a wider plan such as scar treatment. Dr Sin Yong gives a written, itemised quote after assessment. The consultation fee is waived with any medical treatment.
Tell the doctor about any fish allergy or past reaction to an injectable. Rejuran is purified from salmon DNA, and although the purification is designed to remove proteins, your history is reviewed carefully and in some cases Rejuran is not advised. An alternative such as a hyaluronic acid booster may be considered instead.
